Idea is mine, though based on the Tournament of Mortals...Sometimes, it's all about Control....
Magneto: The Master of Magnetism and the Leader of the Mutant Brotherhood, Magneto seeks to completely overthrow mankind once and for all!
Shadow: A master of chaos energy and one of Sonic's most powerful rivals, Shadow wields the power of the Chaos Emeralds, but seeks a purpose for his power.
Now the master of metal will meet the master of chaos. Can the leader of some of the worlds most evil mutants beat this speed demon? Can Sonic's rival beat a man who has given the forces of the X-Men trouble for decades? When magnetism and chaos collide, in the end, only one can be crowned...
THE DEADLIEST MORTAL!
Finally, in a classic 'To the Victor Goes the Spoils', after you pick a winner, pick something for them to take from the loser. It may be something as simple as a piece of equipment, to something as complex as a power. I'm just curious what you all would say.

Magneto, most people don't realize that his powers go far beyond just manipulating metal he can throw the world into chaos causing major disasters just by tampering with the earth's magnetic poles.

Magneto would manipulate the iron in Shadow's blood and kill him with a mass hemorrhage.

Shadow can win this. Chaos is more powerful than any metal.
Shadow should be given the power of magnetism after winning. Chaos and metal combined? well, we're boned.

You know Magneto, can cause global disasters just by tampering with the earth's magnetic poles right.

Actually, tampering with the magnetic poles doesn't do much. the magnetic north and south poles have switched...yet nothing bad has happened.

Maybe, yet while Magneto has been shown to manipulate metal at a distance (shown best in X-Men: First Class), we have yet to see him actually tampering with the Earth's electromagnetic field. So while he is powerful enough to do just that, we've yet to see him do so.

Which version of Magneto? Which version of Shadow?
If it was the Archie comics Shadow, I'd see him being a very tough contender.

I really don't see Magneto having anything over Shadow that would give him the ultimate edge.
If it were Rouge, he'd have a bit more of a hassle, but against Magneto, I think he has this fight in the bag.

Shadow. What could Magneto throw at Shadow that he couldn't get up from? Shadow survived reentry into earths atmosphere with minor wounds. Add on top of that Shadows mastery over Chaos control (Space-time manipulation) and he's ability to turn into Dark Shadow or Hero Shadow (both of which make him invincible). Yeah, Shadow would win.

Magneto has better Pre-Battle, Long Range, Mid Range, Defense, and takes the X-Factors Mental and Preparation.
Shadow has better Close Range, Chaos Control / Equipment, Transformation / Power-Ups, and takes the X-Factors Physical, Psychological, and Energy Potential.
Conclusion: Initial analysis suggests a tie, however, factoring in Super-Shadow, I lean closer towards Shadow. I imagine that in the beginning, things will be somewhat even, Magneto even doing some real damage to Shadow. But once Shadow busts out the ultimate form, he wins.
