Description
Swarms swarms everywhere, and not a place to step--OH GOD ONE OF THEM JUST ATE MY LEG!The Tyranids: The mentality of the Tyranid approach to warfare can be described with the phrase "quantity has a quality all its own". Like a foul cancer, these creatures travel the stars eating away at worlds and destroying planets; seeking only there own propagation and evolutionary advancement. Constantly changing, adapting, and growing, the Tyranids have defied those that would hope to halt their advancement to consume all life. Driven by the great hunger, these star locusts will not stop until all universes have been made one in the Great Devourer.
Arachnids: The Arachnid's monstrous appearance belies their cunning; for these are no mere beasts. They are conquerors bent on destroying all other species with an army of engineered evolutionary horrors. Many times have the forces of man been besieged by these creatures, and they are not always victorious. Whether bursting from the ground with some great leviathan-esque horror, or managing to sneak right past our defenses only to burst from within our own ranks, these creatures are as tricky as they are deadly.
Now teeming writhing hordes will collide, each in a desperate rush to consume the other. Both sides will cook up brand new genetic horrors as they move to adapt and counter each other. But in the end, only one side will be left, all the stronger for the encounter. And the universe will tremble in fear at what we must call...
THE DEADLIEST WARRIOR!
*(Because I know this will pop up if I say nothing: No space battles. Planet-side only.)
(Disclaimer: Just to be clear, these two combatants were created / are owned by people far more creative / wealthier then me. I have made this, not for profit, but in the hopes of encouraging spirited discussion among fans. Please support the combatants official series. Thank you, that is all).

I think an gant is even so small, that the mouth of the Arachnid worriers couldn't get close enough to bit it in two parts XD.

Both have a lot of strong figthing units, but the Tyranids have alot of psykers, and that would give them the upper hand. Tyranids would definately win this one.

Arachnid Warrior bug is awesome in design compared to the basic gaunt Tyranid. Love both factions.

That is true. Arachnids have a more alien, insectoid feel to them - whereas Tyranids, especially basic 'Gaunts, are kind of "meh".
No challenge in terms of who'd win a fight, though.

Honestly Tyranids have a wide array of expendable infantry with all sorts of biological weapons, yet I can see Arachnid warrior bugs out classing even a Tyranid warrior in melee. Due in part to numbers, but nids win in numbers as they number well....shit...the sky is raining nids. Nonetheless, Star Ship Stroopers Rough Necks had a lot of interesting species of Arachnids. It be an awesome our really dull fight as each side throws billions into a meat grinder. I think Nids would love morphing the Arachnid designs to suit Hive Minds needs.

Tyranids. In addition to everything vaynehellsing said, the tyranids have the deathleaper and lictors that can easily infiltrate the brain bugs lairs and kill them. With the brain bugs dead, the Arachnids fall into leaderless chaos and will be absorbed and assimilated by the highly coordinated army of the tyranids

Tyranids. I'm always curious as to how the psychic fights between hive minds may play out, but I give the dog's share of advantages to the Tyranids.

....Those poor, poor Arachnids. Tyranids can massively outnumber them and beat them out in quantity. A Warrior Bug may be better one on one, compared to a Hormagant, but Hormagants are going to outnumber Warrior Bugs 12-1. And Termagants can engage them at range. Tyranids would have complete dominion of the skies with their Harpies, Harridans and Hive Crones. Spore Chimneys and Venomthropes would butcher any attempted Arachnid offense, as any Arachnid trying to assault Tyranid lines would choke, burn and die in an immense cloud of spores that are lethal to any non-Tyranid Organisms. Not to mention the immense amounts of biomass available. And then, there's the Tyranid Bio-Titans.
....The Tyranids throw even ONE Hierophant at the Arachnids and the Arachnids will have absolutely no answer for it.
Tyranids also have the firepower to crush Arachnids in long range engagements with things like Tyrannofexen, or Exocrines, and up close, they're at least a match for the Arachnids, if not their betters, using things like Carnifexen, or god forbid, Scythed Hierodules.
Quantity, Quality. Air, Ground. At range, or up close. Tyranids dominate the Arachnids in every possible way. The only thing the Arachnids have over the Tyranids is a better basic melee troop. Warrior Bugs may be superior to Hormagants, but if you threw one Warrior bug against 6 Hormagants, I'd bet on the Hormagants every time. And the Hormagants, like I said, will be outnumbering the Warrior Bugs at LEAST 12 to 1, if not more.

I believe it more of whose biology will win. The side that able to convert the planet into their spawning pit first win. Because admit it, these two are equal.
In number 'nid win, but Arachnids made up by better basic troop. And this is not space battle, so we can forget 'nid bioship.
But if it galaxy scale fight, 'nid win; no question.

Um, even nids' basic forms have highly lethal guns. A single carnifex would be able to run rampant through an entire swarm of regular soldier bugs with near impunity. This matchup is a joke.

I think noone wins...cause after a short outreach of the tyranids hive mind the Arachnids would understand that they have both the same goal... so they set up teamwork and crush everyone in there path ^^

It would more likely end with the `nids assimilating the Arachnids into the fold, Arachnids going in willingly.

Hmmm also a way yes... the Barinbugs might be powerfull but i can't think that they would overcome the all overwhelming Swam Intelligence... since the 'Hive Mind' kills thousands of Imperial Telepath Psionikers by just 'stroking' there mind at the very edge...

No. It wouldn't be. The Arachnids would get utterly roflstomped.
Regular humans could defeat the Arachnids.
Super-soldiers in Warhammer 40,000 struggle to defeat the Tyranids.

Well, while the Tyranids are basically superior to the Arachnids in every way, those are areas where the Arachnids manage to do (slightly) better.
Infantry is:
Hormagant / Termagant / Tyranid Warrior (plus Prime) /Genestealer Cultists
vs.
Warrior Bug (Tiger Bugs (Tiger Spit / Tiger Shard) /Blister Bug / Blaster Bug / Fireflies / Skinnies / Bombardier Bugs / Rhino (underwater) / Spitter Bug / Water Tigers /
While typically the weakest, but most prominent section of the army, the Arachnids have better, more varied cannon fodder. The best unit the Tyranids bring in this category is their warrior, and that one unit can't overcome all the others.
Victory Gains is just what the two would take from the other. These two armies are notable for being able to apply those gains mid battle
Tyranids:
Numbers / DNA Absorption (Very High)
vs.
Arachnids:
Mind Control / Numbers / Technological Adaption (Low) /Biological Adaption
While both are going to increase their numbers rapdily via biomass and breeding, the Arachnids up their game by being able mind control other units, and having limited technological adapting abilities (which really only comes in handy with a third part faction present). Both sides can adapt via DNA absorption, but the Tyranids tend to loose some of their adaptions over time, particularly if they are forced to adapt over and over. Plus, additional adaptions require additional biomass, while the Arachnids just need to alter their DNA to some degree.
Ultimately though these don't overcome the overwhelming edge the Tyranids have on them in most every other area, and I doubt that in an actual battle the Arachnids would be able to hold out for very long.

Ah, I had forgotten that the Arachnids had a lot of more stuff than the standard warrior bug. It's been too long
I interpreted Victory Gains as what each faction would have the most to gain from winning the conflict. And since Tyranids don't actually lose anything if they win and only become stronger, I thought it was weird that you gave the point to the Arachnids. But now that you've clarified it your original judgement makes more sense.
Thank you for responding with actual info instead of just rage and trolling like some other users have.

I think the biggest advantage that the tyranids have is that every victory the Arachnids squeeze out is utterly Pyrrhic because the nids just come in and eat ALL the casualties, there own and the Arachnids, so they recoup their numbers and they gain more numbers from the Arachnids casualties. Also a tyranid hive fleet always holds several planet loads of biomass, so they could probably literally choke the arachnids to death with rippers if the hive mind saw fit.
