Description Research Log entry #2010.141.01

Experimentation with subject #251 continues to meet with success, our latest endeavour concluding with the capture and transportation of a creature from the targeted time period. Genetic testing has since discovered an unusual degree of affinity between this Pokémon’s Base sequence and that of Pokémon #141, Kabutops; even more so than an evolutionary relation would suggest. The Subject was thus designated #141-A, though the research staff
have since nicknamed it “Terrotops” upon observation of it’s method of attack. Analysis of it’s physiology has concluded that the Subject’s base stat growths are above average, totalling to a theoretical limit of 580, equal to that of many ‘legendary’ Pokémon.
Ex Situ observation of #141-A has revealed similar feeding behaviour to that of Kabutops, involving external digestion of solid matter. However, the mode of attack and variety of prey differ considerably between the two. Kabutops prefer to pin their prey down with their chelae and feed on it whole, and are, due to their heavy stone shells, lacking in their capability of subduing Pokémon that are more agile than they are. #141-A has a much lower degree of mineralization in it’s carapace, and exhibited better reflexes and acceleration that allowed it to catch and kill even mammalian Pokémon, which did not exist in #141-A’s species’ lifetime. When caught, prey is immediately dismembered by #141-A’s remarkable rotational sawblades, a structure heretofore unknown to exist amongst organic Pokémon.
Among the staff directly involved with Subject #141-A’s welfare (myself included) a theory as to it’s extreme relation to Kabutops has been developing, i.e. that It and Kabutops are the same creature. It is no secret to
anyone within R&D that our current fossil revival process is flawed by the inherent flaws in the fossils used, and missing sequences are replaced with material from the fossil rock itself. “Terrotops”, therefore, may represent a Kabutops with an intact Genome, and thus an excellent subject for refinement of our defossilization technology. It is hoped that further Temporal Displacement experiments will provide equally strong specimens of prehistoric Pokémon for the organization’s use in the future.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
So this is my entry for 's 2nd contest, as usual, right on the knife-edge of the deadline. Struggling for an idea, It suddenly struck me that the fossil revival shown in Pokémon is totally ridiculous, considering the general trend of complete and total absence of any useful genetic material surviving the rendering of bone to stone. Since 'mon exist that are made of rock anyway, it was simple to deduce that the scientists were literally reviving the fossil itself, fusing flesh with stone, and that these fossil 'mon must have existed in a pure, non-rock state sometime in prehistory, and Terrotops is one of them. The overall design was based on that of the Xenomorphs in the Alien tetralogy, mixed with a Eurypterid of the genus Eurypterus tetragonophthalmus. I played a bit with non-existent censors in the patterns over it's body; they don't leave much to the imagination, I'll tell you that .
I forgot to mention the vagaries of the "Killer Edge" ability; which replaces Battle Armor, and grants the bearer a 25% boost to the base attack power of any slashing attack it knows (slash, night slash, X-scissor etc.). The OHKO move "Guillotine" is granted a 25% accuracy boost as well.
So, despite the lateness, I hope to make a better showing than last year! TTFN!
Pokémon is of course a property of Nintendo, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company. I merely show my appreciation for it through my art

SCDifference In reply to PanicChain [2011-07-05 23:28:54 +0000 UTC]

Pokemon world humans technically aren't the dominant species, they SHARE the world with Pokemon, due to those creatures being intelligent and compassionate enough to forge cognizant bonds of friendship with humans, willingly enslaving themselves to people so that they have better opportunities to beat each other up.
Shame the real world doesn't work the same way eh?

the red patches are all natural pigmentation that just happens to make it look like it's covered in blood.

I can assure you that Team Rocket's R&D division have it safely locked away, at least until it injures itself and it's acidic blood causes a containment breach that sets it loose inside the complex; who knows what will happen then...

Not that Terrotops's blood is actually hollywood acid, as such an idea is very silly! XD

BEEEEEEEEEEEAST MOOOOOOOOOOOODE. I always liked Kautops. And the affect of the red on it's shell and around the saws really adds to the whole, ultimate predator.
