Description Station One "The Big House" is located on 1st Ave in Downtown Bayside, East River County. It is home to Engine One, Ladder One, Collapse Rescue One, the Shift Commander, and the Water Rescue Unit. The Shift Commander oversees the day to day operations of District One, District Two, and District Three, and reports directly to the Deputy Chief of Fire Operations. Station One is part of Battalion One, District One, and serves as headquarters for the Shift Commander.

Update 9/24/23: The former Ladder 1 (SL0801), and former Water Rescue Unit (ER9501) have been retired, and placed up for sale due to age. The former Collapse Rescue One (KR0301) has been moved to replace the older Collapse Rescue Eighteen out of station 18. 

Engine One (Shops # EP2001) Engine One is staffed by up to: 1 FF/Engineer (EMT/Paramedic), 1 Lieutenant (EMT/Paramedic), and 2 of either FF/EMTs and/or FF/Paramedics. Total normal staffing: 4 and maintains a ALS response level. The crew of Engine One will cross staff the Water Rescue Unit as needed. Engine One is set up with four hosebeds: one with 1000' of 5" large diameter supply hose preconnected to a four way hydrant valve, one with 500' of 2 1/2" supply/attack hose, one with 300' of 1 3/4" attack hose, and one empty tray used to store three 150' high rise packs of 1 3/4" attack hose. In addition to it's hosebeds, Engine One also carries three 150' preconnected 1 3/4" crosslays, one 8' segment of 5" hard suction hose, one 15' segment of 5" large diameter supply hose in the front bumper tray, and one 25' segment of 2 1/2" supply/attack hose in the engineer's compartment. Engine One also carries one 24' extension ladder, one 14' roof ladder, one 10' attic ladder, two sets of forcible entry tools, one 8' pike pole, one 6' pike pole, one roof hook, one denver tool, one trash hook, one dry chemical extinguisher, one pressurized water extinguisher, four spare SCBA bottles, two sets of hydrant tools, hose adapters and nozzles, one automotive lockout kit, one 300' bag of life safety rope, two 150' lengths of utility rope, one chainsaw, one K-12 saw, five collapsible traffic cones, cribbing, ten road flares, one 5 gallon bucket of quick absorbent, one wide mouth shovel, one push broom (disassembled for transport), one bolt cutter, four rolls of fire scene tape, gas monitoring devices, a thermal imaging camera, two long backboards, the crews ballistic PPE, one decon kit, one mobile data terminal, city map books, county map books, station area pre plan books, city wide hazard pre plan books, one lifepak, one trauma jump bag, one oxygen jump bag, one maternity jump bag, one spare M-15 oxygen cylinder, and a ALS jump bag.

A FF/EMT or FF/Paramedic from Ladder One will cross staff Collapse Rescue One as needed, with Ladder One following for manpower. Water Rescue Unit (Shops # U1R2303) "Big Blue Two" The Water Rescue Unit is staffed by up to: 1 FF/Engineer (EMT/Paramedic), 1 Lieutenant (EMT/Paramedic), and 2 of either FF/EMTs and/or FF/Paramedics. Total normal staffing: 4 and maintains a First Responder response level. The crew of Engine One will cross staff the Water Rescue Unit as needed. The Water Rescue Unit carries rope rescue equipment, dive rescue equipment, twenty five life jackets, two dry chemical extinguishers, one supplied air cart, twenty spare SCBUA bottles, ten wetsuits, one rigid hull inflatable boat, the boat's motor, fuel for the motor, one mobile data terminal, city map books, county map books, city wide hazard pre plan books, one floating stokes basket, two long back boards, one trauma jump bag, one oxygen jump bag, one maternity jump bag, one spare M-15 oxygen cylinder, and an AED.

Shift Commander (Shops # CM1801) The Shift Commander is staffed by up to: 1 Deputy Chief (EMT/Paramedic), and 1 FF/Paramedic or FF/EMT. Total normal staffing: 2 and maintains an BLS response level. The Shift Commander carries a mobile command post, one set of forcible entry tools, one dry chemical extinguisher, two spare SCBA packs and bottles, two rolls of fire scene tape, one decon kit, one extraction kit for active shooter calls, one bison cooler full of water, one bolt cutter, spare trunked radios, radio chargers, two handheld VHF radios, one thermal imaging camera, one gas monitoring device, one automotive lockout kit, the crews ballistic PPE, the crews structural PPE, spare ballistic PPE, one mobile data terminal, city map books, county map books, city wide hazard pre plan books, one trauma jump bag, one oxygen jump bag, one maternity jump bag, and one AED.
