Description
Made entirely of clay (except for the sword and emblem)This character is made for my clay animation project during collage, entitled "Catfight". Spent about a week moulding, painting, polishing, lacquering this lil' baby.
Teamed up with ~chinchyela for this animation.
The concept adapts Tim Burton's (Corpse's Bride) dark and gloomy style for the background, while the characters resembles Nick Park's (Wallace and Gromit) cartoony and colorful characters. Thus ensuring that the characters stand out from the background

i think you are limited to what you can do with the model the way you made him. if her hasnt got an armature underneath, then he doesnt have much support, and if you havent got magnets or pins to hold the characters down it also makes it harder.
it was fun to watch, but the animation was quite limited to be honest.

The armature was pretty well built. This character is fully flexible in all angles. The characters are pretty heavy so no adhesives were needed to hold them down.
We spent too much time on the characters and props. We were left with only two days for shooting.... hence we couldn't be too ambitious with the animation. We didn't even follow our original storyboard
Stop motion is fun and challenging but as collage students we have to deal with deadlines often ridiculously short, that don't allow us to show our full potential coz we have to rush for the sake of meeting the deadlines.

i know what you mean. we had many weekly deadlines for animations, but then you got lectures aswell. but its quite an elaborate piece if you were stuck for time. stop motion is also hard because of the camera time and such.

It's a matter of trial and error....first time I'm doing a hardened clay model
I ruined 3 helmets before I managed to get one with the perfect shape
There's another model for my 2nd claymation....will post it within these few days!
