I fig. out that I can go by my gradient button in apo and click right button icon, (smooth palette) find one of my picture on my PC (a map where I have them saved) bluemark it and click OK, 99% of my pics works,seems that apo (7X) do some abracadabra cuz the new color show up on the fractal I have in apo window! So it seems to be one more way to get colors out from other picture !

Don't forget about the editing the color saturation, brightness and such...can be found under the 'Rotate'

Nicely prepared! Even though I'm familiar with this method, I'm adding it to my resource folder for reference.
In addition to what you've mentioned here, I also crop my images to isolate the colors I'm most interested in. Probably obvious enough but might be overlooked.
