It's a real shame that I even made this, but it can't be helped. Shadow was a character I liked due his character in Sonic Adventure 2. But given how Sega is currently trying to make Shadow into an edgy a**hole, I needed to express my thoughts on Shadow. His character in Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, and (believe it or not) Sonic 06 was perfect. In SA2 his actions were driven by revenge against those who took Maria's life. From the Hero's side, he is the bad guy, but from his view, he feels like he is avenging Maria. Until Amy talks with him about what his doing is wrong and he should help. In the final act to stop the Arc from crashing into Earth, Shadow helps Sonic and Knuckles by fighting the Biolizard. When the fight with the Final Hazard ends, Shadow gives his life to save the Earth for Maria, thus dying a Hero. In Sonic Heroes, he has lost his memories, and wants to get them back, with the help of Rouge, and Omega. As the game goes on, he learns that he doesn't need to know what happened to be who he is. He made friends with Rouge and Omega, and helped in the final fight with Metal Madness. In Sonic 06, he is written as selfless and heroic. He works well with Sonic when they need to work together, and is in grief when he died. He saved Rouge's life in Kingdom Valley, and stepped in front of her when Iblis came. And Shadow was very clearly upset when he saw a broken down Omega in the future. When Mephiles tells Shadow what humanity will do to him in the future, Shadow is upset by this, but still refuses to join Mephiles side, and still helps those around him despite what the world will think og him. He even become something of a "mentor" to Silver in the game. But sadly, every other game paints him as an edgy a**hole, who throws all the good things I said about him down the drain. In Sonic Boom, he thinks his better then everyone. In Sonic Forces, he is basically the main cause for the game in the first place by killing Infinites allies, and beats the crap out of him once. Does he appear at all through the main game to help his friends stop Infinite and Eggman? NOPE. "Sega: Shadow will play a major role in the game." No he didn't Sega, no he didn't. In the Sonic Racing Overdrive animation, he leaves Rouge and Omega behind while there car broke down, and steals a Chao's popcorn bag. And don't even get me started on his game, Shadow the Hedgehog. THIS IS WHAT SEGA WANTS FROM SHADOW?! Bottom line, Shadow character is only good in SA2, Heroes, and 06. Every other game his an edgy a**hole, and you can't change my mind about that. Also before anyone asks, I can't speak for the Comics about his character since I don't read them. But from what I heard about the IDW version, his an a**hole. And from what little I remeber about him in Sonic X, he was basically an a**hole there too. I get questions from so many other people why I hate Shadow, and even I explain it to them, CLEARLY, they still don't understand and are just like "Wha?". Also I would be lying if I said this video about Shadow didn't inspire me to make this. I pray that Sega will make Shadow back into the character he was before in the newest Sonic game. But given there track record for making GOOD Sonic games, I don't have any hope sadly. But who knows, I heard that there looking into what made Sonic Adventure such a good game for the new one.
