Description
This is a continuation of this meme here: truesonicspirit.deviantart.com…Instead of pandering to those who want Sonic's friends remove, Sega should of listen to the one's who wanted other characters to have their own games. The Adventure games had something going with having multiple playable characters with different playstyle the problem was it was to a series that's a platformer through and though. Tails' games manage to avoid this problem since they were put into different genres. Shadow the Hedgehog did everything right except for the gameplay since it was still largely a platformer which many will compare it to Sonic's main games same with Knuckles Chatiox. People had the right idea about giving the other characters their own game problem is outside of Knuckles being a beat'em up like the Werehog nobody really explain WHAT they want the character's games to be.
Tails' game should be like Tails Adventure where you get to use Tails' gadget like his arm cannon from Sonic Battle and his mech from Sonic Adventure 2 and his story could either involve the Battle Bird Kukku coming back for revenge or a whole new original character that'll put Tails technological skills to the test kinda like Wave from Sonic Riders.
Knuckles' game should combine Knuckles' treasure hunting skill from the Adventure games with the beat'em up style from Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, God of Wars, etc. with storytelling ala Samurai Jack or that Knuckles center episode from Sonic X.
Team Dark should be like Metal Gear Solid and Saint Row where Shadow, Rouge, and Omega go on missions to different top secret bases around the world to retrieve something or to gain information. Gameplay wise Shadow should be like what he did in his story's intro in Sonic 06 but a hint of stealth put in to keep it from being another Sonic platformer, Rouge's would be like how she was in SA2 and 06 where she would find keys or passwords to open a value or door, and Omega's would be like how he was in Sonic Heroes where he would use his fire power to destroy enemy robots or machinery with a small detail from R2-D2 from Star Wars where he attach himself to a computer to gain information about the enemies plans. The story needs to be on the same level as Metal Gear Solid and since Team Dark is maturer than most of the main Sonic cast having a story that dive deeper into the Sonic the hedgehog lore will be widely accepted.
Team Chatiox (As a team) should be a mix of Ace Attorney, Professor Layton, and a bunch of 70s and 80s cop movies where they have to use their detective skills to other keep someone from being convicted or find the criminal of a major crime I mean it is a waste that these guys are detectives but they rarely utilize their detective skills outside of Sonic Heroes and Sonic Chronicles. The story needs to be told in a fashion similar to detective tv shows, animes, and movies like Detective Conan (Cased Closed), Law & Order, Lupin III, and Ghost in the shell.
Esipo out of the 3 have the most potential for his own game. His gameplay should be similar to Ninja Gaiden, Strider, Naruto, TMNT, etc. where you use your ninja equipment (Ninjutsu, Genjustsu, etc.) to get into enemy base, defeat the enemy army, or assassinate someone. The story have to be some deep, interesting, and cool like it could be a backstory explaining how Esipo became a ninja and explaining all the events leading up to him joining Team Chatiox or where Esipo go on his own solo mission to work for an organization that needs you to assassinate someone, steal something, or destroy the enemy army and considering how Esipo is on his own I don't feel like they can force in unnecessary comedy to lighted the story since Esipo will be on his own and if they much give him a partner and want to make that character a comic relief make it so that's not ALL that character is and be taking serious when the time is right.
Silver has been a character that fans had asked the longest to have his own game. Silver's gameplay will be what he did in Sonic 06 but better. His story could other A. Be a backstory about the events leading up to 06 in his timeline or B. Be a story that takes the fact he's a time traveling cop that involve him going to the past, present, or future to stop a criminal or Eggman Nega from the Rush games from alternating the past and ultimately change the future and maybe even dive into the multiverse concept the comics did before the reboot.
See Classicist we can give the other characters their own spotlight without having them be erase from the main timeline because you don't like them. Like I said in the past I like multiple playable characters in Sonic games but if they aren't allow to be there than give them their own games so they have room to flesh out and grow instead of being background cheerleaders that are there to fill up a slot *Cough* Amy and Knuckles in Lost World *Cough*.

That's not a hard than to do. Megaman X1 and 2 prove that X doesn't need any other Maverick Hunters to help him on his adventures but he still needed help from Zero and Axl so this doesn't prove anything especially when the developers make power ups that do EXACTLY like Sonic friends do

OMG YASS! Also Silver's telekinesis could work like the Force Unleashed telekinesis, where you can ram enemies into other enemies, and use one enemy as a wrecking ball of DOOM! Also Silver could have different types of telekinesis like in Saints Row 4, like Life steal (Ring Absorb), Explosion, Lightning, and Mind Control (An enemy fights for you.)

I didn't even read the description and I already completely agree with you. I have been saying this for the longest and people keep looking at me like I'm crazy. Do you realize how awesome it would be to play as the Chaotix in a game completely centered around them?
Not only that, but can we get a game about Sonic Villains? Playing as Fang, Bean and Bark in a crime game would be epic! But yeah, give me more games centered around other characters plz SEGA, thankz, ily XDDDD

I have been saying this for Blaze specifically. She is everyone’s fave female character mostly. If you think about it logically. She would sell best. She lives in a different dimension. We don’t know much about it. So much to explore! They can do so much with that. Sol emeralds. Blaze would be so fun to play as. In 06 she was the best playable character.

I've been a Blaze fan for awhile now, got Rush a couple of years after it came out, Blaze was my favorite.
She honestly does deserve a game, she's probably one of the best female characters so far.

I mean, I don't mind if SEGA does that. I mean giving characters like Knuckles or Shadow their own game would be a awesome idea, especially due to the fact that basically all the Sonic games from Unleashed to Forces, only Sonic is the one playable. The reason they made Shadow playable is because they just want to for the money. The only thing I'll love in Forces is the story, the custom Hero and the stages....everything else is just meh, especially when the classic/modern mechanic is still the same from Generations.
I just wish SEGA let more of the characters become playable, like in Adventure and Heroes. Those were the games I enjoyed because it doesn't revolve around Sonic so much. I mean, I like Sonic, I really do, but don't make him the star because he's the main character and let everyone else be completely useless as NPC and etc.

Some of these just don't seem commercially viable. Team Chaotix is so obscure while Shadow and Silver are kind of toxic with the reputation of Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06 since Sega hasn't done much with the characters since those two. Sega would need to do a lot with these characters in the main games to get people to buy them. A Tails or Knuckles solo game could be a decent seller, but I feel would need to start as a smaller $20-30 game or as part of a Sonic game then see if it can work. Not saying it would need to be 2D, just maybe not as high production values or as high a budget to start with.

Blaze in the sol dimension would actually be a popular buy out of everyone. In sonic rush adventure we never really explored that realm. It was all about Sonic’s world problems. What about the problems that happen in the sol dimension not to do with outside forces? Blaze is everyone female fave. Her abilities in sonic 06 people found fun. People just enjoy her. I am confident she would sell well out of all characters.

They may not seem so, but if they're actually good, what's holding them back?
Donkey Kong wasn't a very marketable character at the time Donkey Kong Country came out. He was a King Kong rip off, a stupid ape who only wasn't called "Stupid Kong" because Miyamoto sucked at English back then. Nintendo itself long ditched him in favor of Bowser and never planned to use him again. But Rareware was so sure of themselves and look what they made of it. Aside from the graphics being amazing and the platformers kicking ass, with games like Diddy Kong Racing and Donkey Konga it got to the point where some people will argue that Donkey Kong is not a Mario character(even though he clearly is) and instead the host of his own franchise. And after all these years and Rareware dying, it's still alive and well. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze was easily one of the best 2D platformers on the WiiU and definitely one of the best 2D platformers I've played in general.
Same thing with Wario. Seriously, who even gave a shit about Wario when he first debuted as the villain of Mario Land 2? He essentially was what Fang the Sniper was during the Classic era and you know what happened to that guy. So what did Nintendo do? Remove Mario from the Mario Land series and turn it into the Wario Land series. And that's how it won people over. Nobody cares about the first two Mario Land games anymore other than them being the debut of Daisy and Wario, but everyone remembers Wario Land and more than a few people are pretty mad that it hasn't been getting any entries lately. There's also Wario Ware which is kind of fun, but not as good as Wario Land.
Oh, and did I mention that these series took off BEFORE the internet came around? If they made character spin offs nowadays, these games are going to have a serious advantage over DK and Wario. Just generate a bit of hype and boom, free advertisement all over the internet. Shadow and Silver definitely wouldn't have to worry about not selling. Not even Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06 had to worry about that. Team Chaotix, I sort of see your point with, but I do think that these guys have enough potential to carry their own games, they just need to look interesting enough. Stereotypical detective plays aren't gonna do anything, this would need some great mystery and sharp humor. Which is why I actually would put Knuckles and Mighty into the game too. Knuckles is a more popular and marketable character and Mighty is kind of a new character, but also and old character returning, so it would definitely get some attention. And they both are rather mysterious characters if you use them correctly.

Actually, Wario was very popular when "Super Mario Land 2" came out. (Especially, thanks to those goofy-yet well animated commercials he used to star in.) That's why he became the star in "Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land" instead of Mario. Plus, the team behind the SML games wanted to try to make their own game, sense they usually didn't make Mario games.
And actually, the first two Mario Land Gameboy games are still considered some of the best Gameboy games, and best selling, as well. Some even consider SML2 on par with Mario's NES & SNES games.

Donkey Kong and Wario are popular characters, but they were surprise hits. DKC was expensive by 1994 standards, but Rare took the risk, not Nintendo and it's still a lot cheaper than these proposed spin-offs would cost, even adjusted for inflation. So an equivalent would be if say Platinum really wanted to make a Knuckles game for instance, but no developer is really rushing to Sega to make a Sonic spin-off, at least none I'm aware of. Wario meanwhile spun off into a Gameboy game. Today, the modern equivalent would be a $20-30 low budget spin-off. And then he had later had games like Wario World and Shake It which had much higher production. Which is exactly what I'm proposing Sega should do with Tails and Knuckles. So thank you for proving my point.
Now for your last point, Shadow was at his peak of popularity with Shadow. Now the kids playing Sonic weren't alive when a game where you can play as him came out. So it's a different market. And Silver debuted in Sonic 06. The vast majority people picking that game up had no clue what he was like. That game sold well because Sonic was in it, not Silver. You may buy these games and a lot of people will as well, but Sega needs more than that. And the majority of their millions who buy these games don't like Sonic as much as you. But they're the ones who make the games successful. It's tough balancing appealing to both sides, but Sega's going where the money is and pretty much any character outside Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles at this point of time are there. They can be, but not right now.

"Donkey Kong and Wario are popular characters, but they were surprise hits."
Back in the 80s and early 90s that wasn't the case. Donkey Kong was completely forgotten and Wario was just as uninteresting as all the other Mario characters at the time. Rareware took a gamble with DK and it paid off big time and now DK is as popular as Mario himself if not more than Mario as for Wario they literally had to take the sub-series away from Mario just to make Wario appealing and that work. If things had just play out the way they did DK and Wario would be the most forgettable characters in the series next to Princess Daisy.
"DKC was expensive by 1994 standards, but Rare took the risk, not Nintendo and it's still a lot cheaper than these proposed spin-offs would cost, even adjusted for inflation."
These proposed plans wouldn't of count anymore than most triple A games of this era. DKC cost as much back than as a big triple A game of that era. So there's literally no difference even with Inflation involve. There are spin-off games more expensive than my plans and they're from small companies that don't even have HALF of the money of what Sega got. And a lot of Nintendo's spin off games are usually sport or racing games and all their RPG series are watered down because "Gameplay is important".
"So an equivalent would be if say Platinum really wanted to make a Knuckles game for instance, but no developer is really rushing to Sega to make a Sonic spin-off, at least none I'm aware of. Wario meanwhile spun off into a Gameboy game."
Where was you going with that? Is the suggesting is Platinum would be more for a Wario game than a Knuckles game because of that was the case than that logic fail because if something is popular than developers would be quick to go for it or if their passion about said character or series than it shouldn't matter where they originated from.
"Today, the modern equivalent would be a $20-30 low budget spin-off."
Low budget spin-offs would cost around $40 at best but than again WHY would anyone want they stuff to be low budget?
"And then he had later had games like Wario World and Shake It which had much higher production. Which is exactly what I'm proposing Sega should do with Tails and Knuckles. So thank you for proving my point."
So your proposing Sega just make shoveware games with these characters? That is the dumbest than I ever heard in my life. Tails and Knuckles had games on the same levels as Sonic's Genesis games so why would people want to make games with content less than a traditional Sonic game that's the problem with the Colors era. We're paying more for less of something we got for the same price back in the Classic and Adventure era people are tired of paying $40 - $60 dollars for something we got less of nowadays and that including the spin-off titles like Mario & Sonic at the olympics. If Sega isn't gonna give it their all with these characters than why would they expect people to pay money for something Sega clearly gave no fucks about and just made them to get extra cash.
"Now for your last point, Shadow was at his peak of popularity with Shadow. Now the kids playing Sonic weren't alive when a game where you can play as him came out."
The same thing apply to every video game character ever. Whether kids grew up with these characters is irrelevant because if the people like them especially kids than nobody cares if they grew up with these characters or not.
"So it's a different market."
The market is the same as it was back in 2005. Nintards continue to act like the market is the same as the 1970s where games are being sold off their gameplay in nothing else. The change in market happen in the 1990s where gamers were expecting more from the games thanks to the likes of Sonic, Metal Gear Solid, and Jak and Daxter, the only thing change is what genre is still alive and what isn't. 2D platformers and collect-a-thons are dead genres and the one's that are still alive relay on their content to sell themselves. Mario games are the only 2D platformers that is still relaying on gameplay and even they are getting bash for being rehash-y.
"And Silver debuted in Sonic 06."
What does Silver debuting in Sonic 06 have to do with anything?
"The vast majority people picking that game up had no clue what he was like."
The vast majority of people also doesn't care if they know the characters or not if they look appealing and have interesting content than they'll pick up the games regardless. Star Fox, Metal Gear Solid, Megaman, F-Zero, Castlevania, Silent Hill, etc. are to this day being bought by people who have never played their original games or know who they are you probably bought a game to a franchise that you never heard about with a character you never seen before and I doubt them being there ruin your interest in these characters. I didn't play the Genesis games to care about Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles but their character were so interesting to me when I played Sonic Adventure 2 Battle that I fell in love with them and was willing to learn more about them. The vast majority will love these characters regardless if they grew up with them or not if you can't understand that than your just as close minded as these Nintendo fanboys who want everyone to do with Nintendo is doing.
"That game sold well because Sonic was in it, not Silver."
Sonic being in it doesn't mean anything. Sonic was in Lost World and Boom and nobody bought those games so those games killed your point.
"But they're the ones who make the games successful."
A character doesn't make a game it's the content. If Sonic made a game successful than Sonic Lost World and the Boom games wouldn't of done as bad as they did. Sonic was barely in Shadow's game and he wasn't even in any of Tails' games at all and they sold well just fine.
"You may buy these games and a lot of people will as well, but Sega needs more than that."
Sega is a company that needs money and want to see people buy their games. So if he and a lot of people are buying the games than that's all Sega needs. If Sonic meets his sales standard than Sega will call the games a success regardless of their quality. Sega knew that good in well with 06.
" And the majority of their millions who buy these games don't like Sonic as much as you."
Them liking Sonic is irrelevant if they buy the games than they can all be sheep for all they care.
" It's tough balancing appealing to both sides"
Sega so stop trying to balance both sides and stuck with who they're customers are instead of the retard fanboys and mainstream media who are never happy when Sega put love and care in their games.
"but Sega's going where the money is and pretty much any character outside Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles at this point of time are there. They can be, but not right now."
They ARE the money. Sega knew that for years but they listen to Nintendo fanboys and the mainstream media who'll make up any excuse for Sonic to be as lame as Mario.

"Team Chaotix is so obscure"
How is Team Chaotix obsurce? They been important in a lot of Sonic games since Sonic Heroes and with Sonic Forces the Chaotix are more known than half the cast who isn't Team Sonic, Amy, or Shadow. People remember Espio since he's the only member from Team Chatiox that shows up without the other members of his party and Vector had shown up from time to time without the other Chatiox crew members and the comics made it literally impossible for anyone to not notice characters like Team Chatiox exist why else would characters like Mighty, Ray, or Team Hooligan be remember when they hasn't been uses or known since the 90s.
"Shadow and Silver are kind of toxic with the reputation of Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06 since Sega hasn't done much with the characters since those two."
Shadow and Silver's reputation were not damage to anyone with those games except Nintendo fanboys who can't get over those games. People asking for a Silver game and people asking for another Shadow game prove this. Shadow and 06 didn't make the characters toxic it was the special snowflakes who let one game decide how the characters look in their eyes did otherwise Sonic would of been toxic with games like Sonic R, Labyrinth, or even 3D Blast.
"Sega would need to do a lot with these characters in the main games to get people to buy them."
People are still willing to buy them even though Sega hasn't done shit with the characters since 2006. Sega doesn't have to do anything to make people buy the games of the other characters I mean people are literally pre-ordering Forces for the Shadow DLC because Shadow is now a playable character that people had been asking for, for 11 years now. The Shadow DLC is prove that the characters are profitable even though Shadow's gameplay is no better than Sonic's but because it's another character (and it's free) people will buy it. People had been pointing out to Sega for years that their sitting on a gold mine but instead decided to listen to Nintendo fanboys and Classicist and remove the other characters leaving Sonic which people had been sick of for seven years.
"A Tails or Knuckles solo game could be a decent seller, but I feel would need to start as a smaller $20-30 game or as part of a Sonic game then see if it can work."
Tails and Knuckles been apart of Sonic games since 1992/94 they work back than and they'll work now. Your trying to limit the character spin-off games based on the opinion of people who had done nothing but destory this series to fit their own agenda because Sonic being more than a simple platformer is taboo and every since of the word.
"Not saying it would need to be 2D, just maybe not as high production values or as high a budget to start with."
With that mindset they might as well be 2D. If your sitting on a gold mine why only take out LESS than what you want? The price and production doesn't have to be Disney quality high but that doesn't mean you can lessen it because of the opinion of a few tards who have and never will represent the majority of the fanbase. The Megaman X series wasn't less than it's worth even though Zero was the more popular of the two characters and once Zero got his own series he build off the foundation of the X series and kept building it up with each entree. The other characters spin-off can build off the foundation of the main games and keep evolving the series with each pasting entry of their own respective series. Tails Adventure, Knuckles Chatiox, and Shadow the Hedgehog did it well even if they weren't perfect.

1. Every character who isn't Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, or Eggman is obscure outside the Sonic fandom, and even then a lot of the kids currently buying Sonic games didn't grow up with those characters, so they'd need to be introduced to them.
2. No one talks about R, Labyrinth, or 3D Blast. People still talk about Shadow and 06. Not to mention, R and 3D Blast did hurt Sonic's reputation on the Saturn to the point where Adventure was basically a reboot. It's just Sonic had built up more goodwill than any other character in the 90's and they weren't that damaging. Shadow and Silver were never that popular. Shadow was popular after A2 and Heroes, but that one two punch really hurt his popularity while Silver was never popular. Not saying it's wrong if you still like either character, but that's what the public thinks And I don't know where you got that Nintendo fanboys thing from. TBH they're the ones usually defending Shadow from my experience since they grew up with A2, Heroes, and Shadow.
3. It's been over a decade since a game with other characters in it. So there are teenagers who started with Unleashed and don't have much familiarity with characters besides Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Eggman. So you're talking about games for an esoteric market Which yes, is why Shadow is getting DLC. Sega wants to see how people respond to them before having more Shadow.
4. No, I'm looking from a business standpoint. Tails and Knuckles are basically to Sonic what Luigi, Yoshi, and Wario are to Mario. All of them get spin-offs and all those spin-offs sell a fraction of what Mario's main games do. Sonic, meanwhile, does not sell what Mario does. Like his games ever since Adventure 1 do about as well as the Yoshi series. Which is good, but Tails and Knuckles aren't as popular as Sonic so there will be a drop-off. How big of one, no one really knows. That's why it would be smart for Sega to test things first.
5. You take out less to see how people respond. If they like it, build on that for a bigger game. If not, then Sega didn't risk much. Games are expensive dude, especially ones with the kind of production values you're proposing. Making a smaller game first can lead there, you just have to be patient.

"1. Every character who isn't Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, or Eggman is obscure outside the Sonic fandom"
That's complete bullshit the only obscure characters are the one's that hasn't been use in years none of the modern characters except spin-off characters like the Babylon Rouge, Marine, or Chip were obscure characters like Shadow, Blaze, and so on are member by people outside the community.
"even then a lot of the kids currently buying Sonic games didn't grow up with those characters, so they'd need to be introduced to them."
Than the same would apply to every single character. You get to know the character by "playing" the game. The characters don't need to get reintroduce to these people because they didn't grow up with them because they can other A. Play the original games because were at a point in time where you can buy or emulate the original games, B. Do what most modern games do and that include character bios, and or C. Slowly get to know/understand the characters through the story. Nobody needs to play the original Zelda game to understand Link, nobody needs to play the original Metroid game to understand Samus, nobody needs to play the original Megaman game to understand Megaman. Their actions in their story as well as the characters inside said story will tell you about their character or the characters you'll meet throughout so that's a dumb excuses for why the other characters can't have their own game.
"2. No one talks about R, Labyrinth, or 3D Blast. People still talk about Shadow and 06. Not to mention, R and 3D Blast did hurt Sonic's reputation on the Saturn to the point where Adventure was basically a reboot."
Except nothing got rebooted after 06 and half the time the people who talk about Shadow and 06 are the one's who blame them for the downfall of Sonic when nothing happen but a few Nintendo fanboys losing their mind because they forgot Sonic was an edgy character or Shadow wasn't anything like Sonic in any way, shape, or form beside them both being hedgehogs and the Saturn era was at the point where Sonic was on death road since none of the games since Sonic & Knuckles sold very well.
"It's just Sonic had built up more goodwill than any other character in the 90's and they weren't that damaging."
They build that off of 3 games. CD was ignore due to how bad a rep the Sega CD was, the game gear games aren't that well remember, the saturn games speak for themselves, and the Classicfags hated the modern games with a burning passion. So no Sonic's goodwill didn't save him from all the bullshit that happen after 1994.
"Shadow was popular after A2 and Heroes, but that one two punch really hurt his popularity"
Shadow's popularity was not damage after his game. Nobody hated Shadow because of his game. Shadow is still well love even after his own game with that logic going back the Saturn games would of damage Sonic's popularity since they were a lot worst than Shadow or 06.
"Silver were never that popular."
Silver WAS popular. Yeah not in 06 but thanks to Rivals and the comics he became a fan favorite why else would people ask Sega to give him his own game if he wasn't popular. Tails wasn't popular in his first debut game since he didn't do anything different from Sonic beside being cuter but you see he got two games both were release on the Sega Game Gear. Tails didn't really hit it off for people until Sonic 3 & Knuckles if not Sonic Adventure when he learn to stand up for himself and exit out of Sonic's shadow.
" Not saying it's wrong if you still like either character, but that's what the public thinks And I don't know where you got that Nintendo fanboys thing from."
The public WANT these characters to have their own game, the Nintendo fanboys want them to other go away or be sidelined for Sonic because apparently the rest were stealing the show from Sonic when it was never the case in any game. Knuckles Chatiox, Tails Skypotral and Adventure, and Shadow the Hedgehog was the only time that happen but they had a reason it was about the OTHER characters and not Sonic. Sonic was in Shadow the Hedgehog and he did help but he was not the main character.
"TBH they're the ones usually defending Shadow from my experience since they grew up with A2, Heroes, and Shadow."
Than their not Nintendo fanboys there just regular gamers, played the original Sonic games and knew what's the deal with them, and or Nintendo fans that played other games and judge them off their own merits and not on whether or not their like a Nintendo game. There's a difference between a Nintendo fanboy and a Nintendo fan.
"3. It's been over a decade since a game with other characters in it. So there are teenagers who started with Unleashed and don't have much familiarity with characters besides Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Eggman."
What does being over a decade or playing one game mean? It's been over a decade since Sonic, Tails, and any of the other characters appear when SA2 was release and it didn't bother me so what does ten years have to do with anything especially when we had the Adventure games, Heroes, Advance, and the Rush games before we gotten Unleashed. You make it sound like people can't get attract to the other characters because they don't know them. With your dumb logic how are they suppose to get to know them if they can't get their own game to know them.
"So you're talking about games for an esoteric market Which yes, is why Shadow is getting DLC. Sega wants to see how people respond to them before having more Shadow."
Sega already know how people will respond that's why their doing it in the first place. This isn't testing anything especially when we had spin-off games that had multiple playable characters. The characters have appeal in the consumer market so having DLC for one character isn't gonna test something that had work in the past and will still work now.
"No, I'm looking from a business standpoint."
You can't be because your shit is setting the company up for failure. Limiting a game will only cause more problems and just show Sega is doing it for a quick cash in the bucket and not out of fan demand or care.
"Tails and Knuckles are basically to Sonic what Luigi, Yoshi, and Wario are to Mario."
Except Yoshi had no appeal and his very first game was to prove that gameplay is the only way to make games all because Donkey Kong Country was acknowledge for everything not involving gameplay and it didn't do well. Luigi had no potential for his own game like Shadow or Blaze since he didn't have any character at the time to give him his own game so they had to make up a character for him on the fly and the story and gameplay were far different from a typical Mario game, Wario had a character but it wasn't much beside being the neighborhood bully and all his games not counting Super Mario Land 3 doesn't utilize the character in any way, shape, or form beside being on the cover of almost every single mini game. Tails and Knuckles had character that can work in their own game without a cosmic makeover or just being the face on something. No Mario game that gave the other characters the spotlight has ever work without having to force them a personality, change the series core, or not having Mario as the center focus piece that drives the story and events. Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow's game didn't change the characters' personality or change the series core to make their games work and Sonic wasn't there to artificially jump start the story because the characters didn't do it themselves. Heck in SA1 and 2 all the characters except Tails in SA1 didn't change the characters personality or use Sonic as a way to start the story and most cases Sonic doesn't show up until the middle of their story or the very end and some remove Sonic after awhile to give focus to the characters.
SA1 Sonic was their for Tails' and Amy's story but he didn't jump start Amy's and he was remove in certain part of the characters' story and in Amy's case, Sonic's role was very small since his Adventure revolve around Chaos and Robotnik. Once Sonic was gone Tails learn to become his own hero and stop a missile from destroying Station Square killing millions and Amy went on an Adventure to find that fickily's family and destroy the robot that gave her so much hell in her own story.
In SA1 and 2 Chaos and Rouge jump started Knuckles' story and both of them was around the M.E and a lot of his adventure he was finding the M.E. SA1 Knuckles didn't interact with any other character except Dr. Eggman with Sonic only been around for like 5-7 minutes total and never again. SA2 Knuckles was solo until they were about to go for Eggman's base and as soon as they went to the Ark he remove himself to continue to find the M.E and got into a fight with Rouge because she had six pieces of the M.E and didn't meet up with Sonic until the journey was over.
Shadow's story was jump started by Eggman because Eggman freed him and even though he was working with Eggman and Rouge he had his own goal separated from the other characters and the only reason they made up Shadow's character as they went along was because at that point Shadow was a new character unlike Luigi and Wario that had zero character until their own game.
Rouge's story started as a mission from GUN which is why she was trying to get the M.E. in the first place because she knew it was the only way to get Eggman's attention and by the end once her part was over she decided to pocketed the rest of the M.E and the Chaos Emeralds as payment.
Big's story while unnecessary didn't have Sonic jump start it either heck Sonic was only there for 20 to 30 seconds and by that time Big's journey was over.
And Gamma's story was jump started by Eggman because Eggman just activated him and Sonic was only there for 15 to 20 minutes and was gone.
"All of them get spin-offs and all those spin-offs sell a fraction of what Mario's main games do."
One of them was hardly a Wario game and more as a collection of mini games which is what makes the series so popular and that had nothing to do with the character himself and Luigi's games were carbon copies of ghostbusters and the one time he did want Mario did it bomb. Super Princess Peach was no better since it was largely ignore even by the Mario fanbase and Peach was already an empty headed character to begin with and unlike Luigi and Wario that gave them power by traditional means Peach's powers relay on the typical female stereotype and a game that's pretty much like Yoshi's Island. The only Mario character that excel at this was Donkey Kong and that's because he did want Sonic did, be appealing, cool, and had edge to him that was pleasing and not cringy and force like all the other Sonic knock off of the 90s.
"Sonic, meanwhile, does not sell what Mario does."
And Mario doesn't sell as well as CoD, GTA, Battlefield, or his past games so what's your point.
"Like his games ever since Adventure 1 do about as well as the Yoshi series."
Sonic's games had done well by Sonic's own standards. Your doing like a lot of Nintendo fanboys are doing and that's judging the series off of whether or not it's like a Nintendo game and Yoshi sales like dogshit. Sonic's games sales around 2 million as the standards with certain games like Unleashed breaking the limit. That argument makes it like Sonic's games hasn't reach the standards of 2 mil when the only one's that hasn't crack 2 mil was most of the Sonic's spin-offs, Colors, Lost World, the Boom games and Mania on PC. Yoshi has been on platforms with large install base and still can't crack 2 million which is what most companies use as a way of saying the game is successful.
"Which is good"
That's because you bullshitted with that since you compare it to a series that can't even sale itself off of it's own ideas.
"but Tails and Knuckles aren't as popular as Sonic so there will be a drop-off."
Tails and Knuckles ARE as popular as Sonic and hell Shadow was WAY more popular than Sonic. The series isn't a popularity contest so stop acting like the characters are in a contest on who is the coolest character in the series because Knuckles, Metal Sonic, and Sonic until Shadow appear were 3 of the most popular characters in the series. Knuckles' popularity decrease because they turn him into a buffoon who can't read even though he's "suppose" to be the guard of a gem so power his people die trying to control it and Shadow's popularity decrease because they made him a douche. Heck all the character's popularity decrease because Pontaff write the characters in such a way that it turn people off. But at the time of Shadow and 06 everyone was at their peak in popularity with Sonic's only going down because the extremist didn't like the idea of Sonic going 3D. Unless the number was Lost World level bad than a few thousand people leaving isn't gonna hurt the game or the series as a whole.
"That's why it would be smart for Sega to test things first."
Sega has been "testing" things for seven years and all their testes end in the same result people leaving because of lame content. Sonic 4 was literally a test to see how well a Classic style game can work in this modern age and people hated it to the point the Classic extremest boycott the game because it wasn't like the Classics. Mania was a test to see how good a Sonic game made by fans would do and going off the Steam chart that didn't do so hot either. It only did well on Switch because that console hardly have any noteworthy games and it's been like 3 or 4 months since Mania was release and we still have no sales numbers when freaking Cuphead in one week reach 1 million is sad below all levels.
"If they like it, build on that for a bigger game."
That never works. Starting small before going big will never work especially if it's characters who people had been DEMANDING for years. It's if Nintendo use Metroid Samus Return as a testing group for future Metroid games and they cheapen the product because nobody knew who Samus was. Star Fox Zero did that shit and it blew up in their face.
" If not, then Sega didn't risk much."
Except THAT'S a risky move. These characters are well love and giving Sega's track record of cheapening out on Sonic games when they're high in demand doing something as dumb as that will hurt them rather than help.
"Games are expensive dude, especially ones with the kind of production values you're proposing."
The stuff I propose will be no different from games like Ace Authority, Ninja Gaiden, etc. Sega has lots of money and them cheapening out on things is what gives them a bad reputation from the start. Your proposal is to ignore customer demands because of the characters not being like by a few tards and limit the game in risk of losing money when they been cheapening out since 2010 and lost way more money than any of my proposals. If the content is good than people will buy it regardless, you hasn't propose a single counter idea beside not using the other characters which is what got them in this shit in the first place and try to defend it by using Mario and opinions of Nintendo fanboys and Snowflakes to justified this when they been wrong since 2010. You made it like I want the games as big as the Last of Us or Mass effect when the games and shows I use doesn't have budgets that break the bank and when I use Metal Gear Solid I use it for an example of Team Dark's storytelling which isn't too much if you got a good confident writer who knows what he/she is writing for and doesn't water it down because heh dur it'z a kidz game.
"Making a smaller game first can lead there, you just have to be patient."
And the smaller games other fail, get ignore, or get hated because of that. Sonic games has always been small games with the Adventure games, Unleashed, and Forces being the real big one's. So that suggestion doesn't work if the games are already naturally small and even than the stuff I propose are still naturally small compare to those who want the series' core to change because they didn't like it from the beginning.

Rainbowser [2017-10-15 20:04:56 +0000 UTC]
I'm all for character spin offs in Sonic. Sonic has many great characters and they deserve to be showcased, but I feel like the main Sonic games are unable to do all of them justice. In fact, it's impossible to do all of them justice at once because there's so much that can be done with them. Don't shove them in a game they don't need to be in for the sake of having them show up. Give them their own stories that are unrelated to Sonic himself and have every main Sonic game be an Avengers/Justice League kind of thing where Sonic takes the lead and other characters drop by if they are needed and can add anything to the story. And besides, if Mario can do it, there's no reason why Sonic shouldn't be able to do the same thing with characters who have way more personality.
One important aspect one has to consider when making the concepts for these games is the question "Why doesn't Sonic interfere?"
The opposite already was problematic in other games like Unleashed where the world was literally torn apart and neither Knuckles nor Shadow and his GUN team tried to do something about it, but if you don't consider it in these games, there will be people who will never shut up about it. And besides, it's technically not that hard a thing to avoid. It's something I never really got about Knuckles Chaotix(though I love the idea of this game). Metal Sonic(under Eggman's control) is literally the main villain and Sonic never shows up? Oh wait, he does show up, but only in the end credits after the Chaotix Crew already did all the work. He doesn't show up if you fail though, in that case he just lets Hyper Metal Sonic destroy everything. The Tails games(at least the original Japanese versions) explained it by saying it all happened before Tails and Sonic met which I can buy. The villains in these games also weren't world-threatening, so Sonic would probably be too busy to even notice them. Shadow the Hedgehog on the other hand does have Sonic in it, but he's portrayed as uncharacteristically childish and is only second banana to Shadow all throughout the game which is an aspect I actually understand people having a problem with. Sure, it's Shadow's game, but there's no need to make Sonic being stripped of his main character powers this obvious. I mean, the scene with the paralyzing gas was pretty much an excuse to not have any of the other characters step into Shadow's spotlight. This should be avoided in any case. You should never dumb down or weaken any characters, let alone the original main character, in order to put the focus on another character who should be able to put on the show by himself. But well, at least Shadow the Hedgehog actually had Shadow's name on the box unlike something like Sonic Rush which, while it didn't go as far as touching Sonic's main character powers, if we're completely honest, 90% of the game was about Blaze(while the actual conflict about both worlds going to hell is in the background for the most part!) and pretty much everyone else(except for Sonic, of course) was dumbed down in her favor. I'd actually say they should try to keep Sonic out of these games for the most part or else people will complain that it's not about him. Or maybe have him cameo at the end like in Knuckles Chaotix minus the whole "not showing up when he should" thing. One thing that I think would be really funny is if some character spin offs referenced each other. Like, in the Team Chaotix spin off, you can spy on Team Dark doing the stuff from their game. It would help the integrity of the series instead of making it feel like every studio is just having their way with the characters.
The question of Sonic not interfering wouldn't need to be asked in the cases of characters like Silver or Blaze as they aren't in the same world as Sonic. Team Chaotix most likely would deal with common criminals, so it's an entirely different territory from Sonic's. Team Dark, I could imagine dealing with some kind of sect or secret society which would want to stay undercover, so Sonic probably wouldn't even notice them. Knuckles could be going up against some kind of ancient spiritual entity which can't really be seen for the most part, so it would make sense that no one else would go after it. Which leaves us with Tails who is probably the hardest to get into the spotlight, simply because he is always with Sonic and if he got into trouble, Sonic would most likely try to help him aka do all the work for him. We obviously wouldn't want Sonic to get kidnapped or pushed away for some bullshit reason just so he'll leave Tails alone. I guess you could do something like Little Nemo where it's all a dream and Tails really is on his own. The one thing I'm opposed to here though is Espio being seperated from his team mates. Again. Team Chaotix is great because of their unique trio dynamic, splitting them up is like taking away two thirds of each character's personality. And on their own, the members of Team Chaotix are not much. Espio may be the most interesting one of them, but who is he supposed to be the straight man to if he's all alone? He'd just be a really standard serious protagonist. Don't get me wrong though, as a game, it would definitely be interesting. As a story, not so much. I'd either make that segment part of the Team Chaotix game or a seperate mobile game to play on the go where a cool protagonist is all it needs. But it's just wishful thinking either way. Man, the things I'd do if I got my hands on the Chaotix Crew and a good crew of game developers...

But did Sega give a shit when making that game? No.
A spinoff title that focuses on another character can work for sure. But Shadow the Hedgehog as a game was filled to the brim with forgettable music and repetitive missions. It doesn’t even need to exist from a story perspective and it is never mentioned again.
If they made a Blaze game and repeat the exact same issues with Shadow’s game, I sure as hell wouldn’t be too happy with it.

"But did Sega give a shit when making that game? No."
They did give a shit that's why the game was made it was a respond to Heroes a game that nobody wanted but got anyway because Ilzukia thought an Adventure 3 was gonna sale to hardcore Sonic fans which isn't even close to being true otherwise games like Sonic 4 and Sonic Mania wouldn't of been made because only hardcore Sonic fans would buy them.
"A spinoff title that focuses on another character can work for sure. But Shadow the Hedgehog as a game was filled to the brim with forgettable music and repetitive missions."
Shadow's music was anything but forgettable just like other Sonic games it had atmosphere tracks that work well for a character like Shadow just like rap music working for a character like Knuckles or smooth jazz for a character like Rouge that can work on their own and I mean outside of Westopolis and the missions are only repetitive in certain levels which you can skip a lot of them it isn't forcing you to do them.
"It doesn’t even need to exist from a story perspective and it is never mentioned again."
All Sonic stories are like that. When was the last time they brought up Sonic 1's story, Sonic Battle's story, or even Unleashed's story? That's a shitty reason to discount Shadow's story since all Sonic games stories are like that and why would they Shadow put the past behind him so there's no need to remind the audiences about Shadow's pasts it be like in Metroid where everytime there's a new entry they remind you of the events of the original Metroid or in the Legend of Zelda where in every new Zelda entry they keep reminding you of the events of the first game. They're simply not relevant and serve nothing to move the series forward unless it's a sequel to said game or a spin-off.
"If they made a Blaze game and repeat the exact same issues with Shadow’s game, I sure as hell wouldn’t be too happy with it."
That's you and even still outside of the missions and story structure everything else about Shadow was loved down to it's uses of mature lesson with the only one's hating it were the typical Nintendo fanboys.

Actually, most Zelda & Metroid games never regard the first NES game. "Metroid Fusion" for example only mentioned events from "Super Metroid," and every new Zelda basically reboots Link.
Also, most fans of the controversial Shadow game I see are "Nintendo fanboys." In fact, the GameCube version sold very well. I'm a huuuge Nintendo fan, and I still enjoyed/liked the Shadow game despite it's flaws.
I even liked the music, and such.

No they didn’t. Sega just made that game just to have a title for 2005 and fill the empty gap. The only reason why it sold well is because the Sonic Fanbase wasn’t what it is now.
Honestly, I can’t remember much from Shadow aside from the vocal tracks, westopolis, the cyberspace levels, and lost impact. Going off of the Great Clement, “Could you honestly tell me what Air Fleet sounds like?” Mission wise, while you can skip a lot of them, any mission that didn’t involve getting to the goal ring was out right tedious and monotonous. Plus what’s the point in the morality system if it all gets shot in the ass with a final story. That to me is a sign that Sega just didn’t give a fuck.
In 2005 who cares about Shadow’s past at that point since SA2 already did a decent enough job telling it. Wasn’t there a small bit in Sonic Battle where Shadow suddenly remembers his past? If that’s the case, then there literally no reason for Shadow to exist story wise. Shadow the Hedgehog should’ve gone the same route with 06 where instead of focusing on the past, it just strictly focuses on the future. I find Mephilies to be more interesting, and Shadow’s character was clearly the best in that game.
It’s not about getting what I want, but it’s the actual quality of it. Like I said, as long as it’s good, I don’t care.

"No they didn’t. Sega just made that game just to have a title for 2005 and fill the empty gap. The only reason why it sold well is because the Sonic Fanbase wasn’t what it is now."
Shadow the hedgehog was made because people WANTED it. Sonic Heroes was made to fill an empty hole in 2003/4 that SA3 could of easily fit but Ilzukia decided to go against the idea and the reason it sold was because the content was appealing to the masses the Sonic fanbase back than was overcrowded with Nintendo fanboys because Sonic was on a system a lot of them were on and consider Sonic jumping the shark when Shadow hasn't jump anything but the ego of Nintards. Nowadays people who wising up to the bs surrounding Shadow the Hedgehog from back than and a lot of them are defending Shadow the Hedgehog because of the hate towards it were myth made up by the Nintendo fanboys saying it was too edgy or Shadow had no business willing guns. Sonic fans didn't consider Shadow going to far because everything Shadow did was the same thing Sonic been doing for years since Sonic 3 & Knuckles there were legit problems with the game but stuff involving the tone, story, and guns is just bullshit garbage that were never an issue in previous Sonic games.
"Honestly, I can’t remember much from Shadow aside from the vocal tracks, westopolis, the cyberspace levels, and lost impact."
Again that's just you but people remember tracks from the game like The Ark, Doom, Final Hunt, etc.
"Going off of the Great Clement, “Could you honestly tell me what Air Fleet sounds like?”"
Again that's just him. I don't see what's so appealing about Sonic Colors but people can tell me what makes it so great even if I don't agree with it.
"Mission wise, while you can skip a lot of them, any mission that didn’t involve getting to the goal ring was out right tedious and monotonous."
A lot of it normally apply to killing a set of enemies in a level or like Central City setting off bombs with a specific weapon the rest weren't anymore of a drag than collecting all the chaos emeralds in the Classic games.
"Plus what’s the point in the morality system if it all gets shot in the ass with a final story."
The point was letting you decide WHO Shadow was gonna be. The game marketed itself as a game that let you decide the faith of Shadow's character nobody expected THEIR version of the character was gonna be the end all, be all of the character. Megaman X5/X6 had multiple endings but only one of them was truly canon and the other means absolutely nothing and that was random number generated and you don't see anyone getting mad at the endings just the RNG.
"That to me is a sign that Sega just didn’t give a fuck."
Again they gave you the OPTION to choose it which is what has been asking for, for years why else is there a custom character generator in Forces. If Sega didn't care at the time than Shadow would be dead, Gamma would of never been created, and Sonic Colors and Mania wouldn't exist even though fans wanted that stuff. Sonic Heroes was the only time where Sega gave fuck all about what the consumer want since people wanted it other on the same level as Sonic 3 or Sonic Adventure 2 but instead went for something crampy and light hearted which nobody was expecting or wanted.
"In 2005 who cares about Shadow’s past at that point since SA2 already did a decent enough job telling it."
The same reason people wanted Shadow to return after SA2 even though he serve his purpose in that game because it was interesting and people wanted to learn more about Shadow as a character and his backstory. Why wouldn't people want to learn more about their favorite characters it's the very same reason people wanted to learn about Knuckles' backstory when Sonic 3 & Knuckles never set Knuckles up for one in the first place.
"Wasn’t there a small bit in Sonic Battle where Shadow suddenly remembers his past?"
Sonic Battle canonically takes place AFTER Shadow the Hedgehog which made sense since Battle and 06 are Shadow after his arc was over. How does one lose his memory and suddenly remember it again that was a plot hole Shadow cover up nicely.
"If that’s the case, then there literally no reason for Shadow to exist story wise."
People wanted him back and that's what Sega did and gave him an amnesia story line that took two games to resolve and once that's over Shadow started working for GUN which made sense because it show that Shadow truly put his past behind him which people who didn't pay attention complain about it being a plot hole.
"Shadow the Hedgehog should’ve gone the same route with 06 where instead of focusing on the past, it just strictly focuses on the future."
Except that would make more plot holes than fix because Shadow would of still been as clueless as he was in Heroes so Shadow's game had to be created to help the character development to the point where he started to work with the very people who gave him hell to begin with.
"I find Mephilies to be more interesting, and Shadow’s character was clearly the best in that game."
That's because Shadow was at his peak since he accepted who he is and doesn't let his past hold him back anymore. Shadow would of been a terrible character had Shadow the Hedgehog not been created than he would basically be his Heroes' persona which wasn't much of a character more than a child who have no idea where he's act or how he got there.
"It’s not about getting what I want, but it’s the actual quality of it."
Quality means nothing if the game in question doesn't sale. A lot of games had quality to that of Disney and still bomb hard. Example SLW had great quality and it became one of the worst selling Sonic games in history before Sonic Boom was made.
"Like I said, as long as it’s good, I don’t care."
Good for you everyone have an opinion on what makes a good game but again if the game sales horrible who cares.

What about games for Amy, Cream, Emerl, Shade, Cosmo, or Blaze? I'd love to see those. For an Emerl/Gemerl-themed game, I'd imagine some sort of fighter with something similar to the Castlevania Soul System, in that he has the chance to gain new abilities from enemies he defeats.
Also, I like your idea for the Chaotix Ace Attorney one. Maybe a Knux-themed game could take some hints from Knuckles Chaotix too.

Shade and Cosmo can't get their own games because Shade is legally problematic thanks to that dickhead Penders and Cosmo only appeared in Sonic X where she also died aka her story is finished, so giving her a game makes pretty much no sense. For Amy, Cream and Emerl, it would be problematic as well as these characters are not important to any kind of lore(like Knuckles being connected to the ME and the Chaos Emeralds) and don't really have a concept you could detach from Sonic himself(like Team Chaotix being detectives). Maybe they could have a game where they're all together doing something, but not each on their own. A game for Blaze would probably be incredibly fanfic-y since you'd have to introduce tons of entirely new lore, but I'd actually say go ahead with this one because I really do want to see it. Well, sort of. Blaze is one of those characters that I want to like, but her creators just pulled so much bullshit in order to make her "special" that she's pretty much unusable in a normal Sonic game(that actually gives a shit about the characters). For example, her entire bio trips and falls over the completely unnecessary and never actually important detail that she's supposed to be a princess. Who the hell bullies a princess? How do you bully a princess? Did the other kids just randomly break into the palace and went "Neuheuheu, look at this royal guardian princess with the awesome magic fire superpowers who will rule our country one day and could execute us when she's in a bad mood because she has pretty much all the power and nobody's there to check it. I bet she can light a candle with her bare hands." and nobody ever did anything about it? And this is actually kind of sad because being a princess is the one character trait of hers that has a kind of potential that you can't do better with other characters. If she got her own game, they should elaborate on that instead of rehashing Tails' and Knuckles' stories because it could actually be really interesting. And while they're at it, they could also explain how exactly Blaze's dimension differs from Sonic's and how exactly the Sol Emeralds work compared to the Chaos Emeralds. Because I never actually saw any of the Rush games make a mere attempt to explain that and it really felt like they were just making shit up so Blaze could have her own personal batch of Chaos Emeralds that only she can use and her own personal version of Eggman because she's "special". God, I really hope the new comic series tries to do something about this. They can't just leave her character at... that!

I've been wanting to see the other Sonic Characters get their own spin off games for some time now, In fact I've been making a series of concepts for how I'd see these games be made:
My Sonic Characters Spin off ideas
Sonic Spin Off Ideas- Knuckles
Sonic Spin Off Ideas- Chaotix Detective Agency (I plan on giving this one a rewrite)
Sonic Spin Off Ideas- Shadow
Sonic Spin Off Ideas- Blaze
Sonic Spin Off Ideas- Silver
Sonic Spin Off Ideas- Tails
though I'd disagree with none of the character's solo games can't be platformers, like they could be different kinds of platformers than the Sonic ones.

Hmm, I think those are a little all over the place with all those different continuities mixed together. I think I like the Blaze one best as it just sounds the most interesting to me with a new villain and this kind of stuff. There's no way some of those could work given the legal issues that the comic characters have been facing, but one can definitely dream. I also think that throwing all continuities together is just not a good idea. Especially Sonic: The Comic and Sonic Boom are better left as their seperate continuities, they shouldn't directly relate to the games. I would definitely be for taking inspiration from previous continuities for the sake of integrity like Fang being one of the criminals Team Chaotix tries to capture, but you even need to be careful with that if you don't want Penders at your throat. I think that some original characters wouldn't hurt. I know that Sonic OCs have a bad reputation, but you wouldn't be able to do these games in reality without using them anyway, so why not? But I do like that you have all those different ideas, this kind of stuff should be encouraged more in this fandom.
I only have this one really defined idea for a Knuckles Chaotix RPG which would have Vector, Charmy, Espio, Knuckles and Mighty playable. It would probably start off with a reenactment of the events of Knuckles Chaotix and the Chaotix Crew disbanding afterwards with Team Chaotix becoming detectives, Mighty going on a journey and Knuckles returning to Angel Island. Then we have Knuckles defending the Master Emerald from the villains in a tutorial battle, but then getting cheap shotted, immobilized and kicked off the island. Then we'd cut to Team Chaotix in their shack and Charmy carries in some tax mail which Vector only pretends to read, so it's stacking everywhere. Espio then sees a letter that came in a few weeks ago which is from Mighty who wants to visit them once again and the date of his arrival happens to be today. So Vector tells Espio to take care of the mail and rushes off to the railway station with Charmy. But because these two are the way they are, they take a "shortcut" through the tutorial level and beat some criminals along the way. When they arrive at the station, Espio is already there and tells them that the train is incredibly late. Vector decides that if the train is not coming to them, they'll just go and get it, so they just follow the tracks until they find Mighty and the rest of the passengers who have been kicked out of the train which has been stolen altogether by the same villains who attacked Knuckles in the beginning. Mighty joins the team and introduces them to the mechnanic of switching characters out of battle as only three can be on screen at once or else they'd get in each other's way. He'd also give them some special equipment which allows them to equip something like Paper Mario's badges. The now equippable items have different effects, some restore some HP/PP each turn, some give you access to an extra move, some increase your stats, etc. After that, they decide to get onto the case of the stolen train and not let the villains get away with it. Later on in the game, they come across Knuckles who they accidentally save. Knuckles isn't too happy considering he was kicked off of his own island and the Master Emerald might be in danger, so he leaves them to go back to Angel Island. The bad guys meanwhile realize that the Master Emerald's power is completely inaccessible to them and that they need Knuckles to use it, so they start going after him. Team Chaotix gets attacked by them too as they already got in their way multiple times and go after him as well in order to warn him. They fight off the bad guys and realize that they're fighting the same enemy, so Knuckles becomes a permanent member of the team. There'd obviously be a lot more stuff happening, lots of fighting, many detective sidequests, tons of new locations and NPCs(human AND mobian) and obviously an epic finale, but that's the gist of how it's supposed to work and this comment would take forever if I went into every single detail. There obviously would be an emphasis on comedy, but in a more natural way unlike in Colors or Boom. The main mystery would be that of the new villain group which the Chaotix Crew has to stop, but there would be smaller mysteries during the story as well. And much like in the original Knuckles Chaotix, Sonic and Tails would show up in the overworld with their plane after the bad guys are beaten as an easteregg. I do wish more RPGs would let you revisit the overworld after you beat the final boss which this game definitely would, so there would be a lot more changes in the post-finale overworld. The game would officially end once you go back to Angel Island where Knuckles returns the Master Emerald and thanks the rest of the team for everything. Mighty would also take the next train to go on another journey as he loves to travel and can't stay in one place for too long, but plans on visiting them again if they have another big case going. Team Chaotix then goes home as well, but then find that they got mail and that they're supposed to retrieve a stolen diamond or something and run off again as the credits roll.
The gameplay would take inspiration from Sonic Chronicles as in you being able to change which character you're playing in the overworld, except that every single character has his unique abilities: Charmy can fly, Espio can become invisible, Knuckles can climb and dig, Mighty can use the spin dash to move objects and Vector can swim or something. In battle, they'd also work very differently. Mighty for one would be fast with high attack and low defenses, a sweeper so to say. Espio would obviously use his ninja skills to fight(aka not make direct contact for the most part) and have a high speed, but with attack and defense more balanced. Vector would have equally high attack and defense, but be the slowest of the bunch. Charmy would be more of a supporter with rather low stats except for speed and can inflict status conditions on opponents and heal your party as well as be completely immune to all ground attacks to make up for his low defenses. And Knuckles would be an allrounder with high attack and balanced speed and defense as well as some powerful Chaos moves like Thunder Arrow. There would be timed hits with button presses and if you execute a move perfectly it gets an extra epic animation. The team would be going up against a wide variety of opponents, from robots to man-eating plants and ferocious animals and even other mobians. By beating them, they would earn money because they made a contract with some old billionaire who previously worked at the GUN to make the world a safer place. The currency would definitely not be Rings though. I never got why they were treated as money in games like Chronicles. They are protective magical objects that stop mobians from dying in one hit, they are pretty much useless to humans though. They also appear to show up in random places, so they'd be pretty unreliable. I would much rather incorperate them into the battle system, but I'm not quite sure how. Maybe have like a Ring Bag mechanic where you can collect your Rings after you're hit or something, it would be quite the challenge to get that right and you'd need to take the console into consideration, but I think it could be done.

what's wrong with using elements of other continuities? I figured that you could reimagine characters from those other canons in ways to fit the game universe, In terms of legal issues these are mostly just hypothetical and I highly doubt that these would actually get made so I figured I might as do whatever I want with the concept, and if these do get made and we couldn't use certain characters they could be replaced with new characters if need be. You like the Blaze one the best really? I honestly feel that one is the weakest of my concepts. maybe you could go into detail on each idea if you don't mind (preferably in their comment sections). also glad you think that about having multiple different ideas.
"not going to bother copy and pasting your game concept here."
wasn't expecting a whole game concept here but okay, it seems like a pretty neat idea. I think that the best choice for a Chaotix spin off would be a point an click adventure but I guess an RPG could also be a good choice if you also decide to include Knuckles, the idea of reenacting an older Sonic spin off kind of reminds me of my Tails spin off being a reenactment of Tails Adventure. I actually plan on writing my ideas for a Sonic RPG series once I finish the Sonic character spin off ideas. Have you thought about posting your full concept for this game like I did with the spin off ideas?

There's nothing wrong with it per se, I would actually love to see some of these characters get reimagined(*coughcough* the concept of Enerjak *cough*), but as I said, there are the legal issues and some continuities I just don't think go together very well. Sonic Boom for one, I just can't take seriously in any way. It's a random sitcom thing with Sonic's face slapped onto it and it really shows in the characters from Boom. Most of them are concepts that were already done a million times before and they don't even look like they belong in Sonic. The latter is also a big problem with Sonic: The Comic. How would you even redesign most of these characters to not stick out like a sore thumb when they're clearly not meant to look like Sonic characters? And then there's also Sonic: The Comic's very different tone which is kind of like an outsider trying to write American edge. It's not terrible, but it doesn't work with main Sonic and definitely not with Boom. And you can't really change the tone of these characters because it would piss off the fans of the original incarnation. The only exception I would actually think to be kind of interesting would be Sticks in the Chaotix game because first off, she actually looks like she belongs in Sonic and second, in a comedic game about finding clues, she could actually work. As in, she would actually have a purpose in there that doesn't come down to generating "lolsorandom" humor. She could very well be one of those strangely endearing NPCs you occasionally come across in story-based games. But you shouldn't put a character into your concepts just because they kind of fit the role you had in mind. When it becomes too much, it ends up feeling cramped. Another problem is that many people don't know these characters and would be confused if all of them just showed up at once. Reimaginings can work, I for one loved how Archie reimagined characters like Breezie and Professor Von Schlemmer, but you shouldn't overdo it. I would stick to like two or three story relevant reimagined characters per game. In my concept, it would be Mighty and maybe Fang too. Mighty would be a more sentimental, nature-loving kind of guy who loves travelling and just wanted to pay his old buddies a visit for a nice get together. In the team dynamic, he would be optimistic but down to earth, not as over the top as Vector and Charmy, but not as serious as Espio or Knuckles either. Definitely willing to pack a punch if necessary, but usually more satisfied with peaceful solutions. Fang, I actually wrote a reimagining of, I just don't know if I'd use it in the concept because I didn't find it necessary so far. I'd maybe put him in as a sidequest where you have to catch him multiple times and retrieve stolen items. He'd be sneaky, always ready to fight dirty and quick to run away if he notices he can't win. He'd also do pretty much anything for a promising reward. Some other Sonic characters would probably appear as well, like I said, Sonic and Tails would cameo and maybe I'd have Vanilla and Cream as well, but they wouldn't really be any different from their normal games counterparts. Of course, you can do whatever you want in your concepts. They're pretty much fanfictions as of now and not bound by any rules you'd have to follow when writing for an actual game. Hell, my concept would probably get criticized for introducing a shit ton of new characters. There aren't just the villains who technically are a total of fifteen different characters plus a sidekick, I also made up a rival team of thieves for Team Chaotix, a clan similar to the Knuckles Clan with a guardian as their military leader, a crew of explorers, the billionaire who gives the Chaotix Crew their money and his niece, an old lady and a little girl who function as the cooking mechanic(again, like in the good old Paper Mario when the games still had neat ideas), the list goes on. Of course most of them would only be present for one chapter or so, but still. Then again, it's an RPG and RPGs need NPCs. In real life, I would probably just push my luck and see what SEGA would let me get away with.
"You like the Blaze one the best really? I honestly feel that one is the weakest of my concepts. maybe you could go into detail on each idea if you don't mind (preferably in their comment sections). also glad you think that about having multiple different ideas."
I think that there is a lot that could be done with her. Having Blaze get stripped of her powers seems like an interesting thought considering she apparently wasn't too happy with them at first. She could see what having pretty much no powers means. You could also go into detail of how Blaze's backstory of being a firebending guardian princess and getting bullied fits together. Because SEGA themselves never made an effort to explain that. There's also the fact that it has a new villain. When I saw the other villain characters like Dr. Finitevus and Sidewinder in the other concepts I was like "Oh, it's this guy. He tried to to this and that in the original continuity. Here we go again.", but a new villain always at least peaks my interest because I am a sucker for villain characters. Sure, Captain Kraken doesn't sound like that great of a villain at first with the whole "become a god" cliche, but I think you could make improvements. Every captain needs a crew. Why not give him one? It would be nice to see a new villain interact with other characters who fight on the same side and their reaction to his actions. Maybe this is just me loving the Villain Squad trope way too much, but I think that this kind of stuff can turn a meh villain into a great villain. Maybe you could have Marine use her own magic power though. She does have something going on at the end of Rush Adventure, but I don't think we ever actually got to know what it was.
"wasn't expecting a whole game concept here but okay, it seems like a pretty neat idea. I think what we can agree on is that a Chaotix game would live and die of the character interactions. Good characters and interactions are a must in a game for them, so they would need a genre that allows them to have that. I just chose RPGs because I love RPGs, I feel Point and Click would be a little too slow for a Sonic spin off though unless there's like a really amazing twist to it. Team Chaotix may be detectives, but they're still action heroes as well. I don't know if I'm going to post it, probably not. I'm actually really proud of a few things I came up with and will maybe use them in my own work someday. I feel DeviantArt is just not the place for my original stuff. Or hell, original stuff in general. I'd much rather do my own thing one day. But I might post some concepts that can't be detached from Sonic, like a concept for another Sonic Storybook game or a reimagining of some cutscenes I think had potential, but fell flat in the actual game. But that definitely won't be any time soon.

I kind of disagree with you in terms of the fleetway characters but whatever, if it means anything I'm thinking of completely rewriting some bits in the Knuckles and Shadow concepts and just completely rewriting the chaotix one, so I might consider some of your suggestions, I'm actually thinking of creating new villains for the Shadow and Chaotix to face in their games (I could tell you my ideas for them so far if you want). As for you introducing new characters, if it's going to be an RPG it's going to need a lot of NPCs and I don't think people would mind as long as you make them all interesting.
My issue with the Blaze concept is that well I had the most trouble coming up with stuff for that game because while Blaze would make the most sense for spin off with her being in the sol dimension so I felt kind of obligated to do one for her or other wise people will ask about it, the problem is that Blaze just doesn't interest me as a character, I mean I don't hate or even dislike I just don't have any strong feelings on her I don't know why I just don't. As for the ending with Captain Kraken "trying to become a god" I just needed a goal for the villain and a final boss set up. I figured that he would have a cast of minions that he would interact with I just didn't feel it'd be important to list them. I was thinking that blast Marine made could be from some sort of specially constructed glove she has. although there's one thing I appreciate is that you didn't suggest that I drop the Silver game idea and just put him in the Blaze game as Sol Dimension resident, I had a few people suggest that and it usually rubs me the wrong way.
Oh yeah you'd most definitely need good writing in a Chaotix game, and I'd imagine your RPG being kind of like the Mario ones with a Sonic flair. I figured that a Point and Click would be a good choice cause I wanted to focus on their detective skills and open up more investigatory puzzles and maybe some phoenix wright style interrogations. though I see your issues with the lack of action... maybe you could have that type of investigation in an RPG. I understand you in terms of original stuff, I got a comic I'd like to publish someday, but I'd want to copyright my characters first. I thought about putting the comic on Deviantart but until I can publish it I might just make own website for it instead, in the mean time I'll practice making comics by doing my comic "Sonic Odyssey" since my own comic does have some influence from the Sonic series but I feel that my comic has enough unique elements to set it apart from Sonic (also I'm making Sonic Odyssey because of my displeasure with how the series is being run from a story standpoint but that's another story). I'm also thinking about making my own ideas for Sonic Storybook games, though I'm having trouble what characters to cast as who and what stories to adapt and which ones would fit the Sonic series (I like Sherlock Holmes and think storybook centering on that would be cool but the investigation focused stories just can't fit with high speed action of the Sonic series).

Of course. I'm always open to hearing creative ideas from people who actually care and don't just mock Sonic all day. Sonic needs more fans like this in order to regain at least some of his reputation.
Yeah, I don't think Blaze is that interesting either. There's not much you can do with her that you can't do, no SHOULD do, with other characters. I always like to imagine a completely reset Sonic universe, nothing that's ever happened in Sonic has happened yet, we're back at Sonic 1 and now I think of things I could do with the characters in this reset universe. So with Tails, I'd do a bullying story about standing up for yourself and finding people who appreciate you the way you are. And with Knuckles, I'd do a story about him realizing that there is more to life than his duty and that being with the right people can be nice and even helpful. And with Blaze, I'd... What would I do? I can't do the bullying thing because I've already done it with Tails and I can't do the lone guardian thing because I've already done it with Knuckles, so what else really is there? So I guess if I had to reimagine her, I'd turn her into an actual princess who actually does stuff actual royals do, but not entirely remove her action-oriented side. In fact, I'd probably turn the entire nonsensical concept of her being bullied on its head and instead make her so beloved that she can't properly socialize with anyone because everyone just fawns over her all the time and it's not until she enters Sonic's dimension that she is treated like a normal person. But if I had the choice, I probably wouldn't even use her at all. Which is kind of sad because she has the potential to be interesting and that's why I want to see a story about her that tries to make it happen. The thing with Silver I don't even really understand. He doesn't deserve to be a footnote to Blaze, if anything, it should be vice versa because he is objectively the better character from a writing standpoint. Unlike Blaze, he actually has a story point to his character which is being connected to time travel and being affected if Sonic fails to save the world. Putting him in Blaze's dimension makes little to no sense and defeats his purpose. I could imagine them teaming up to fight a villain who can distort time and space alike, but not on a regular daily basis. Your concepts are fine, they don't need to cross over. With Silver, I guess if I had to reimagine him, he'd be some kind of time guardian who oversees the flow of time from a place beyond time and space(that may or may not have other people in it, I never thought that far, but since time in ticking in the entire universe, I'd say Silver is the time guardian of Earth/Mobius only and there are other guardians for other parts of the universe) and whenever something terrible is about to happen, he can enter the timeline and try to change it, but he needs to choose wisely because once he enters the timeline, he can't visit the same part again, so he might end up making things worse and the world will have to deal with the consequences of his actions. I know it's kind of farfetched and would most likely be too drastic a change, but it's the only thing I can come up with that has him keep the time travel aspect and not cause any time paradoxes whenever he shows up.
The Mario RPGs are a big inspiration for that idea. I know that many Sonic fans are tired of Sonic trying to imitate Mario, but I think it could really work here because, well, the Mario RPGs are pretty good and unique for the most part. Actually, I take that back, there are lots of amazing elements in both the Paper Mario and Mario&Luigi series and the best of those games is what Sonic deserves. My Chaotix game would have action-packed battles and diverse comedy like Mario&Luigi as well as the elegance and intelligence of pre-SS Paper Mario. The rest would be Sonic-inspired and relate to the concept at hand.
I do have a lot of original stuff as well. I even made a world of humans and anthropomorphic animals in case I actually never get my hands on Sonic. A few of my unreleased Sonic OCs went there and now work as main characters, the protagonist was created for this universe though. Right now, I'm working on one of my more simple concepts in order to pitch it to an art contest next year. I've also thought about making webcomics, but the problem is that in my mind, I jump from concept to concept and can't focus on one by myself. This month, I'm thinking about the Chaotix game, next month, I might be thinking about the human-anthro-thing, the month after, I might think about anthropomorphic guinea pigs and then I think about Team Chaotix again. Now I did make a few rough page sketches of a comic that's basically Sonic Rush except how I wish it went. It wouldn't be a full story, just a few scenes that I think were really bad in the original game and redone the way I would have liked them to be done. Aka, Cream is not a stalker, Knuckles is not an idiot, Amy is not a psychopath and Sonic is not the Wizard of Oz. But it's only like three pages or so and I have a lot of stuff to do, so I'll have to see if I find the time and motivation to finish it. Which I hope I will, but I can't be sure.
Heh, you know what's funny? I've been watching the Great Mouse Detective(which is the Disney version of Sherlock Holmes) a lot lately and whenever the song "The World's Greatest Criminal Mind" comes up, I always just imagine Eggman(as this movie's version of Moriarty) singing about his misdeeds and having a good time and his lackeys from all the TV shows backing him up. In fact, there's a darker alternate version that didn't make it into the final movie that I think suits him even better. If I was somewhat good at animating, I'd probably do something like what InkPotts and Stuflox do on their channels, but with Sonic. Basically, what they do is they do animatics of musical songs, but it's done with My Little Pony characters. I'd probably do Princess and the Pauper with Sally and Amy in the lead roles, Hamilton with Sonic as Hamilton and Sally as Washington(or at the very least the song "Right Hand Man"), an extended version of the Steven Universe intro, but with Knuckles and Team Chaotix as the Crystal Gems and finally, Jekyll&Hyde with Knuckles and Enerjak Knuckles as the titular characters. Maybe a few non-Sonic related things as well, like a Fawful version of "My Shiny Teeth and Me" from Fairly Odd Parents. Come on, the song is just too perfect for him to not make the connection. In terms of Storybook, I'd most likely tackle Greek mythology. The Sonic characters take on the roles of the Twelve Olympians, the sidekick would be either Amalthea or Pegasus and main villain would be Kronos who tries to absorb the power of the Olympians.

Yeah I understand I just like speaking to other creative types in general, and really I think people who mock Sonic all could go find a better use of their time than that. I honestly don't know why I don't like Blaze that much but I guess your explanation there could explain it. So you're suggesting that Silver be the Sonic version of Doctor Who? I can roll with that I actually got an oc for my comic who's a Doctor Who tribute and Silver and Sticks are his companions.
I think the main issue I have with Sonic being like Mario is him using similar aesthetics as well as the same philosophies regarding only having gameplay matter and completely disregarding the story and characters, which is why I like the Mario RPGs better than the main platformers heck the Thousand Year Door is actually my favorite gamecube game (and inspiration for a story in my own original comic). and I think the Mario RPGs are a good template for a Sonic RPG as long as you stick to the Sonic aesthetic and elements instead of making it look like Mario. I really love Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi (although I like Mario and Luigi better from a gameplay standpoint mainly because of the dodging). I actually got an idea for a Sonic RPG that uses the Mario and Luigi formula but with Sonic and Tails (I think it's fitting since a known feature of the genesis games is that Tails would follow Sonic around) but the Chaotix idea is great too! though one thing from the Mario RPGs I don't think they should borrow (other than the Mario elements) is the paper aesthetic from Paper Mario (the story telling aspect I'm good with though) since that is part that series' identity (much to it's detriment these days).
I also got my comic I plan to work on that takes influence from the Sonic franchise (that is a pirate adventure) and the franchise is already an influence on my art style anyways. and I can relate to your plight there. I had two other fan comics I wanted to do based on Donkey Kong Country and Buzz Lightyear but I put those on hiatus for now, maybe I'll get back to them when I want to take a break from my sonic comic. though my main issue with doing a web comic with my own original characters is that I'd want to get them copyrighted first. I only played a little bit of Sonic Rush but I do own Sonic Rush Adventures (though I don't have a working DS right now) and I wouldn't mind them doing another game where Sonic goes on a pirate adventure (hey there's an idea for a Story Book game).
first off I think the Great Mouse Detective is one of the most underrated Disney movies next to Treasure Planet (you noticed that I like pirates yet?). Anyways I actually think that Ratigan(the movies Moriarty) could be a good template for characterizing Eggman/Robotnik or at least a new villain for when I rewrite the Chaotix spin off idea. That World's Greatest Criminal Mind but with Eggman and his robots just sounds awesome (I'll have to look up that scene you're talking about) and I recognize those songs except for the Jekll&Hyde one (wasn't aware there was a song based on that story), I've had this idea in my mind for a few song parodies with Sonic one that I'm surprised no one tried yet (as far as I know) is one that parodies the song "You're Welcome" from Moana with Sonic as Mowi and Sally as Moana I mean I think it fits with the character's personality. That is a good idea for a Story Book game, one idea I had was one in the world of Universal Monsters (I know I'm cheating with this one but Dracula, Frankenstein, and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde originated from books) and I was thinking that Sonic gets turned into the Were Hog again and Dracula was the main villain and some casting ideas I had were Shadow as Frankenstein's monster and Eggman as either Dr. Frankenstein or Mr Hyde (as a reference to his Fleetway origin story) and Knuckles as Van Hellsing. Also I did some edits to the stories of the Knuckles and Shadow spin off idea if you're interested, I didn't do much changed to the Knuckles story but I pretty much made an all new story for Shadow.

Yeah, as a Mario fan, I wasn't a big fan of the Mario art style in Sonic myself. I would definitely put a big emphasis on making the game look like Sonic, it would probably end up looking more Sonic than most of the recent Sonic games. Many character designs would be inspired by the Archie comics because by god, there are some amazing designs in those and I would definitely try to replicate this style. Much like with the tone, I'd probably go for a mix between sprite-cartoonish and realistic. Like, a cartoony and crazy amusement park would have to work in the same game as an epic and graceful final level. I won't talk about the details of the latter here because it's another idea that's just too good to spoil in a DeviantArt comment thread, but if you're interested, go listen to "Tree of Life: Trunk" from Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, this is the kind of music I would want to play in this area. I've also thought about the Sonic&Tails RPG kind of thing, but came to the conclusion that it would be too close to the original Mario&Luigi.
I know what you mean with the copyrighting. I never upload any of my original stuff on this account because I don't want it to get stolen by a random person which would probably result in tons of unnecessary 1:1 drama. The thing isn't copyrighting the characters though, that happens automatically once you create them, the problem is actually being able to make use of your right to copyright claim. If you upload this stuff on your private channel and someone steals it, you can ask DeviantArt to take it down, but if the art thief takes everything up to eleven, they might run to other websites and put your stolen content there. And nobody will listen to you because you are a nobody online. You need to get popular first, popular enough that people will recognize your art and will call art thieves out on stealing it, so everybody knows it's actually yours even if the thieves don't take it down. If I put any of my comics or original characters online one day, I will do it on a seperate account with a more memorable and professional sounding name in order to create more of a following, probably with a Youtube channel for support as you don't get followers on DeviantArt with original content only. Better start with fanart and then move on to similar original stuff and you'll stand above all the petty art stealers.
The Great Mouse Detective is pretty good for what it is, especially the characters of Basil and Ratigan are great, but even in the 80s, the "Little Mouse Adventure" plot was already so overdone that pretty much any movie using it was doomed to be underrated. Which is a shame, this is one of the few movies I would actually want to see a sequel of, or maybe a spin off TV show. I've never seen Treasure Planet as I didn't have it on VHS as a kid and never found the time to watch it online though the animation looks great. The steampunk style reminds me of Gankutsuo, the Anime version of The Count of Monte Christo. But the good news is that these movies that previously weren't talked about are gaining more and more of a following. Haven't seen that many pirate movies aside from Peter Pan and some Pirates of the Caribbean, but I am planning to create a crew of pirates who also travel through space and are a gang of rogue lab experiments trying to survive on their own, so I better watch some rather soon.

when you say replicate the archie style do you mean like the pre reboot canon or the post reboot? I see your issue with a Sonic and Tails RPG being to much like Mario and Luigi but I think I'd be able work around that. For my Sonic and Tails RPG concept, I was thinking it would be like it's own continuity that has elements of past canons, and it would be like a loose adaptation of the world tour story arc from the Archie comics where Sonic and Tails chase Naugus around the world. Also I'm working on a rewrite for my concept for the Chaotix spin off and I'm debating on if I should stick to the Point and Click style or change it into an RPG or maybe a hybrid of both genres, on one hand I do want to be able to make use of them being detectives but I think you pointed out that they are still action heroes too so that'a predicament, so what do you think?
As for the copyright issues, I know about the Deviant art policies but I don't think that would be good enough, I use to have some of my original stuff on this site but I took them down when it was pointed out to me that people could steal my stuff. Once I get my characters copyrighted I plan to put my comic on it's own website.
I admit the mice going on adventures thing is a bit overdone but I think Great Mouse Detective and Secret of NIHM are the best of that genre. Is that pirate crew for your Chaotix RPG concept or for your original stuff? You could also look up pirate history if you want to know more about pirates that's one of the things I'm doing for my pirate comic, also if they're time travelers I think you could take some creative liberties.
I don't typically watch musicals, but I looked up one of those channels you mentioned to get an idea for what you want to do with animatics of Sonic characters singing and got to listen to some of that Jekyll and Hyde stuff you talked about and the songs sound pretty great might listen to a bit more of them.
you want to continue this conversation in notes so that we don't over stuff the comments?

Sorry for the late reply. I got plenty of stuff to do in real life and didn't manage to get some time off until now.
I mean the Archie art style that was created when the designs were standardized to look more like the game designs. The inspiration would be some post-reboot stuff(like the new Egg Bosses, aside from Akhlut's new design, they all look amazing), but I'd probably stick more to the pre-reboot stuff for creative liberties. For example, I want to have female Mobians without clothes and male Mobians that are fully clothed. I couldn't have that if I stuck to the more recent style. I want the character designs to look like they belong in Sonic, but I want to be free to go off the wall with new species and powers.
Well, I already told you what I would do. If you have an idea on how to make a point and click adventure action-packed and exciting, I'd say stick to it. It would definitely be a new and interesting take on the genre. Not sure about the mixed canon though. Again, I think mixing the canon up a little and remaking its best elements is great, but I wouldn't rely too much on it. If you use Naugus, make sure that even after the remake the character is still identifiable as Naugus, but at the same time you wouldn't need to read the comics to get what he's about. Think TMNT 2012 and their new renditions of the old characters as an example of this stuff done right.
The pirate thing is for something else, though the Chaotix game would involve them going on a ship to find a lost island and recruiting a crew to do so. The main point of these crew members is to get "killed" off in order to built up the suspense though. I mean, they wouldn't actually die, but they would be out of the way for the rest of the chapter. Afterwards, they'd go their seperate ways again and you'd be able to meet them again in the post-game.
It would probably be better if we continued in notes. This is getting really personal and off-topic for a public discussion.

Shadow have a little platforming in it but certain areas would turn into Stealth missions just like in Metal Gear Solid.
