Description
ok, I’ll be honest...this card makes absolutely no sense what so ever... and i'm not sure how i would react if i saw this in a 18th century medical journal, but that’s what i was attempting to achieve here. There could be an ever so slight steampunk influence here as well but then again, my brain tends to see the world in a very odd way...the seed for this card came to me about an hour ago and quickly grew into how to use this image (made years ago) which is a combination of two images from the very useful Dover publications books of early century engravings and wood cuts...i combined these with standard techniques (paper, razor and glue) then had the image made into a transparency and did a bit of scraping to erase other flaws (no access to Photoshop at the time this was made...and i prefer old school hands on techniques anyway). I printed the image on some textured parchment which was further altered by me using dyes. The card itself had been distressed a few weeks previously and was on file waiting to be used so all these things came together organically. Now for an explanation of the name. Any reader of Douglas Adams will make that connection easily enough...the harder one will be finding the real meaning of -Eta kuram na smekh- so I’ll be kind and give you a few hints.
One: it's a direct reference to something that was said in the movie -Serenity- at a pivotal point.
Seconded: it's a real phrase
and Third: it’s a Russian idiom

thanks...maybe this will help
"Eta kuram na smekh", is a Russian expression ("Это курам на смех"). Literally, it means, "That's for chickens to laugh at" — a Russian idiom for "That's ridiculous" it's from the movie Serenity
