Spongebob Squarepants turned ten years old this year, which marks a pretty big milestone for Tom Kenny (Spongebob's voice) as well. He's been working in animation for over 15 years (starting on Rocko's Modern Life), and in light of his most popular character's 10th anniversary, I thought it'd be cool to give him a thank you gift. I've been a fan since 2007 when I realized that Tom had worked on pretty much every favorite cartoon of mine.I drew this (and my best buddy *squeedgemonster colored it) just in time to hand it off at Comic Con 2009. It features a selection of what I thought were his most notable characters: Spongebob, Mayor, Starscream, Spyro the Dragon, Heffer, Pat the Hammer, Eduardo and (Cat)Dog. We weren't sure how Tom would react, and to our surprise he actually teared up! Aghk! I didn't mean to make him cry! (They were happy tears though, so it's all good.) I'm so glad he liked it! I had a blast putting it together and handing it off to him in person.
By the way, Tom Kenny is one of the nicest guys around and everyone should draw stuff for him. Just sayin'.

This picture has quiet a few nice details too. Look at the side of that boat!!I've seen this picture a few times now but I just noticed, one of the oddest things about it is that somehow that "10 years" sun is the darkest spot on the picture. I think it might have something to do with the sky shading. Since most of it is white clouds so that blue sky some how made it dark or something. It's a good thing because it makes you read the sun. Really cool. It's such a cute tribute!

I knew about all of the others, but I had no Idea he voiced Spyro XD

I forgot! In Spyro 3 he also voiced Sgt. Byrd the flying penguin. And apparently he did return to voice Spyro and others in the 4th game, but later Spyro games feature different actors.

He did voice Spyro but only for the PS1 sequels (Ripto's Rage, Year of the Dragon). In those games, he voices not only Spyro, but also the Professor and a bunch of the citizens of different worlds. If you go back and watch a few cut scenes you can kind of pick up on it. [link]
The reason it's a bit difficult to tell is because Spyro's voice is a lot like Tom's own voice, not quite as goofy or insane as many of his other character voices!

That's pretty awesome, not sure why he doesn't use that type of voice more....Or maybe he does but it doesn't get as much exposure as his almost uniform goofy voice.

Yeah, he does use it for some voices but once he proved he could do really zaney work, I think that's what people started asking him to do most. If you're interested in Tom Kenny, he actually was a stand-up comedian before he was a voice actor and you can see him do VERY different voices and acting than what you're used to if you look into his older stuff.

Tom is also known for the voice of Ice King (Adventure Time), Lumpus & Slinkman (Camp Lazlo), Val Hallen (Dexter's Laboratory), Ed The Otter (Brandy & Mr. Whiskers), Jake Spidermonkey, and Rabbit from Winnie The Pooh (2011 movie).

Tom Kenny is one of the better well-known American actors....He voiced Spongebob Squarepants, and Spyro The Dragon from the Spyro games 2-4.
