One of many photos I took of a tiny garter snake (genus Thamnophis) hatchling which was basking on a paved trail in Itasca park when I found it. The snake seemed quite aware of the camera looming in front of its face, and several times stared at it as it's doing here. If only I had a fish-eye lens, this perspective shot would look even cuter.Related content
