I am currently doing artwork that is not being uploaded, at least not right now. I don't want to feel like I did not upload even tho I am still illustrating so here is this as filler. This is black pen and purple color pencil.

The idea at the time was to draw images from my area. I did not want my illustrations to look boring so I opted that every second illustration in my book will be in a spot color. There was this story a guy told me about being in a art class where they had to paint a pineapple. Everyone except one girl decided to paint the pineapple in it's traditional colors - yellow and green. This particular girl decided to paint her pineapple in purple. Noone knew why. The lecturer, however, loved the idea and she ended up with the highest mark.

I decided to opt to do something a bit more creative with my project and so I added purple (I did initially intend to go green). At first it took me a moment to convince myself to color the grass and tree's green because I am so used to doing what I see. I pushed through and I ended up really liking what it turned out to be...funnily enough I also got the highest marks for these series of images. The initial idea was to draw my area as beautiful as I could because it is 'known' to be a dangerous place by everyone who does not live here. In it's own weird way I subverted preconceptions of what is 'known' and presented a beauty that is not seen...both in images presented and color.
