That's quite beautiful but in very cold colours so it doesn't look overly sweet which is good in this case, I think. Perhaps I would've gone with a lighter background on the right side too but it's not really bad this way either.

I feel like adding a tiny critique. Your colors are really great, very vibrant! I would work more on the lines tho, aside from some part where you have slighlty thinner lines you have the same line weight for almost everything, working more on that could really add an extra bit to your works. Another thing that is kinda noticeable are some small dots of "dirt" where you forgot to erase or where you went over some lines. For the light lines over the water you should have tried to use the pen tool to get more clean curves (what software do you use btw?) and at last, for the exhagon I suggest doing half of one with the pen tool, then mirror it and copy it around, Β this way you should be able to avoid those AA lines. Β You have some great potential, so keep practicing!

Ahaha I know, the line over the water is kinda "jagged" and not smooth. Naturally, I know that I can use Pen tool to make a "clean" curves but I was just being lazy and strokes it with standard brush instead

I'm using Genius Pen Tablet now for making the lineart (yeah it's cheap...less then 50 USD) but I admit when making this artwork I use mouse for the coloring and effect....for my convenience only

The anime does have a yaoi vibe like you said, but it's not too obvious, and if you're not looking for yaoi subtext, it's just a friendship story (although the yaoi subtext is definitely intended). ^^
