Stardate 2189
Bridge of the Vositel
Commander Carleen of House Do'ren, sat in the command center of her new ship, and thought back over everything that had led to this moment.
She had been born on Tkara I, chief world of the powerful Tkarite Freehold, in the coastal city-state of Lanteea . There were three things Lanteea was famous for: its great wealth, its magnificent architecture and its warrior tradition. Many Warrior Houses had called the city home, including many Karee, the Freehold's deadliest and most cunning warriors and the heads of both law enforcement and the military. It was also the location of one of the largest Karee shipyards as well as a prestigious Kareeshay (Karee Training Center)
Her mother's family, House Do’ren, had long specialized in construction, an important profession in a city state famed for its architecture. Their House was relatively young, going back only four generations. They had started out as Vomel, (Lower class) but had gradually risen to Banee (Middle class) and where fiercely proud of their accomplishments.
Her father’s family, House Zomay, had long served as security guards for minor merchant Houses. She had taken after her father in her interests. From childhood she would watch Warrior Games and knew that that was where her future lay. Like all Tkarites, she was trained in gymnastics, hand to hand and the blade from an early age, but she proved to be particularly adept with great skill in tactics.
Upon obtaining Adult Status in 2165, she applied to and was accepted into the Kareeshay a tremendous honor both for herself and her House. In 2170, after five years of intense training, she graduated with honors and was assigned to Zashee (Upper Cut) as a Tactical officer. Over the next decade she proved to be extremely gifted both as a warrior and tactician and rose rapidly in rank, receiving several commendations.
And now it had all led to this.
She had been given the rank of Commander and command of the new patrol ship, Vositel (Sharp Blade).
One of the first of its class, it was as all Tkarite ships- beautiful, swift, powerful and deadly. It had been constructed in one of the shipyards of Lanteea and was now docked at Command Central, where it would have its official launching tomorrow.
Later today there would be formalities and paperwork and tomorrow pomp and ceremony.
But for now...now she was going to simply savor this moment.

I wonder how they would deal with a Dalek invasion because they don't use Invasion methods you think. They might bomb the planet or use Asteroids or even the SUN rays.

I admit I thought a lot about the Drows when I designed the Tkarites.
They're a combination Drow and Dark elf.
They don't worship Lolth and they're not evil (but they're very cunning)

Makes sense. The Drow are very interesting people. It's hard not to draw on them for inspiration.

The Tkarites have something else in common with them; their society is very matriarchal.
Females are the heads of the family and tend to dominate in politics, law and commerce.
Males tend to dominate in scholarship, medicine, technology and science.
Both serve in the military and law enforcement
A person's family is called one's House. (Ex House Jovel, House Krevee, House Asheen)
The oldest woman in the family is referred to as Matron. She is regarded as the family ruler and under
her roof her word is law. Her husband is referred to as her Consort.
Lineage is passed down through the female and one always belongs to their mother's House.
Marriage is seen as a means of allying Houses and producing heirs, not a matter of love.
Monogamy is virtually nonexistent and it’s common for both partners to have multiple lovers.
Since Tkarites are only fertile at certain periods of their lives this causes no problem and birth out of wedlock
is extremely rare.
Children generally live with their parents until they marry. When a man marries he joins the household of his wife,
although he will always belong to his mother’s House. When a lower or middle class woman marries she leaves
to establish her own household. Many nobles or wealthy families have large estates that have been in their family
for centuries. In their case younger members often stay and several generations live together under the same roof.
Even women who leave to establish their own households, continue to defer to the Matron of their family.
When the Matron dies the next oldest female becomes Matron.

What stands out to me is this lady's regal qualities. She's strong and has a quota of pure ruthlessness which she isn't afraid to use. I think the fact she's got a handy sword on her throne--can't consider it a mere command chair--says a lot about her character and species.

She actually has two swords, one on each side!
One should never mess with members of the Karee!
One can only wonder what the gentle Nlians thought during their early encounters.

That could be a good story about the early Nilan and Tkarite dynamic. Danger threatens and the poor Nilans see the Tkarite slice and dice method.
And two swords? Be still my heart. There's something about a lady who's not afraid of deadly action.

Tkarites always prefer to use two blades.
As for slicing and dicing, Nlians were trained by both Andorians and Tkarites when they put
together their Defense Force. The Defense Force was needed one time when the Zeuna Outposts
were attacked by raiders in 2200. The Nlians put what they learned to use and repelled the attackers.
