Ooh! Now this looks like a sharp family! They have a very nice color scheme going on and some fine clothing!
Lovely bit of story, and such fun characters.

Oh they're sharp all right!
Bit of a note, whenever Tkarites leave the home they ALWAYS have at least two knives with them.
If they're in their home they usually take them off, but some don't and just have hidden ones.
And the youngest in the pic, Kaleeva, is training to someday become a member of the Karee.

Very fun! I suppose that Kaleeva is the type to keep her knives with her at all times, if she's in training like that.

Yep
If you don't see any one her it means they're small and hidden.

I do love tiny razor sharp knives hidden away in clever spots!

And even if they don't have actual knives on them every Tkarite is trained in both gymnastics
and hand to hand. They hone their bodies and minds to be blades.
In this picture the Tkarite captain when boarding the Nlian ship for the first time
has left his weapons behind in a show of friendship
www.deviantart.com/seekhim/art…
But even without blades he's deadly
In this picture Kaleeva doesn't appear to have any blades but while hidden they're there.
And even though she has no intention of harming the ones in the picture with her she is still deadly.
And the Nlians know it too. They rely on the two hundred years of friendship between both of their peoples.

In this picture Kaleeva has hidden blades. Z'Rol as a member of Starfleet, doesn't have any
on her, but she is a skilled gymnast and martial artist.

Awesome! I love that they themselves are blades, and can fight perfectly well with only their minds and bodies as weapons. Bruce Lee would approve, I think.

This species reminds me so much of the Dungeons and Dragons drow (especially their aesthetic), but more good-aligned, which is awesome!

I've gotten a lot of that!
Some have even called them Space Drow!

Lol, that's awesome! And after all, my Dinarians could probably be called "space halflings" or "space munchkins" or somesuch in the same manner.

Now these Tkarites seem like good solid aristocrats... maybe not as crazy as humans though.

Actually they're not aristocrats.
House Z'Rol is a powerful and wealthy Merchant House, but its not one of the Ruling Houses.

Ah, so they are richer, but less powerful than the Aristocrats?

SeekHim In reply to DBrentOGara [2018-09-01 03:02:15 +0000 UTC]
I don't think they're richer, they're just heavily into business and commerce.

...so, their capital is tied up in easily liquified trade goods and commercial real estate, while the aristocrat's capital is tied up in long term investments and land.
Assuming they are anything like Earth merchants and aristocrats.

I LOVE IT!! Every time I see another piece of this culture I want you to write another story about them so, so bad. Please?

We'll see!
Bit of a teaser, I'm currently working on another bit of culture right now from the Norayis Sector.
Also please let me know what you think of these Nlian ships.

The ships are nice. I have'ta be honest, the ships interest me less than the people and culture. Sorry. The ships are cool, but the people are what make them intresting to me.

I can understand that. Ships reflect a culture too though.

Wow, this is very beautiful and you've made them all look royal! One thing I couldn't stand about the Orions was that all the women were beautiful and all the men looked ugly. I'm glad to see that's not the case with the Tkarites!

SeekHim In reply to suburbantimewaster [2017-09-05 03:52:30 +0000 UTC]
Part of the thing with Orions was that all the men were bald. Some may have looked better with hair.
Also male Orions tend to be very muscular and bulky. I also didn't like the face piercings many had!

This is just Beautiful!!!
I really love the intricate patterns on the floors, walls and the pillars. I do notice the Tkarites different use of colour for example in their bath house, homes and their everyday attire they seem to go with different shades of purple. But for their halls of justice and attire in combat against the Orions they use shade of black, grey and red.

SeekHim In reply to bjmaxvin67 [2017-09-03 18:45:32 +0000 UTC]
Tkarites have always loved purple and use every variation on it.
Black is a color of power and solemnity and is only used for very serious occasions.
Red is the color of blood and death and only used in matters of judgment.
Only Tribunals and the Karee dress in them because they are bringers of judgment and death.
