Description
Smallest of the Shriek-hawk family, the Kyr'bes Galaar is found only on Concordia. A rare sight in modern times do to the decline of prey and nesting grounds cased by over mining. Though they made somewhat of a comeback with the former Duchess' ban on mining, the hawks continue to be critically endangered and close to joining their ancestors, the Jai'galaar, in extinction.Males are larger than females. Spending their time siting on the nest. Using their size to warm and conceal their young. Keeping them safe from predators and rival males. Females with their smaller lighter frames hunt and keep the nest maintained with regular renewal of branches, leaves, and stones. Often males will sit on the young of multiple females in their territory at once, though this behavior is rarely seen due to the decline in population.
Not usually aggressive or dangerous to humanoids they will ferociously defend their cliff side nests and young. Chicks may remain near the nest cliff for years and it was once not uncommon to see chicks of various ages and fledging in the nest from multiple females.
I may eventually get around to drawing a nest either for the crowned hawk or snow shrieker. I imagine that the hawks sit down to use their feet like hands along with their beak. Does anyone know what pre-destruction Mandalore's climate was like?
