A piece to commemorate the dawn of Evahs death...

As many of you already know, Emiris and Kel's bond was the result of Evah trying to save both their lives the day she passed away.
While Kel managed to protect her for a time while in his Caindread form, the instant the sun broke over the horizon and he reverted to his human form he fell.

When Kel transitions between forms he is not 'miraculously healed' or suddenly strengthened by the change. Whatever wounds he receives in one form instantly transitions to the other. So while a scratch in his human form may prove to be of little concern to his Caindread form, the opposite is also true. A small wound in his Caindread form can prove deadly to his human form as the cut must tear and twist to conform to his smaller human body.

The morning he failed to save her was the first time he realized this, and subsequently it is what nearmost killed him. As the wounds he incurred split open to encompass his frailer human form he collapsed, the last of his light trailing out in a fine steam beneath the rain falling round about him...

I wanted to create an image that conveyed the link between both forms, as well as encompassed the loss and despair he felt from failing to protect her.

For those who do not know, Kels blood falls like magma until it eventually cools and dries dark red.
Thus all the blood in this piece is his own.
