Description This a 'modernized' C96 in 9mm for Match shooting since that's about the only environment its complex operation would get the love it deserves to operate without jamming too frequently.

Barrel is ported, iron sights removed and replaced with a 'drop-in' short rail system which currently mounts a badly drawn Trijicon RMR. The grip is a custom 'revolver style' grip which I'm not really happy with in its current lined form (it would probably look better shaded) So overall, a good afternoon distraction.

No need to cry heresy for defacing a classic, I was just bored.

Done with Paint.net, a program I really dont know very well hence the low detail.

Love this gun . love what you have done with it. I have always wanted to get one of these and use it for competitive shooting but you can't put after market barrels on them

Oh, and I would love to see the C06-08 get the same treatment...that would have been the "product improved" C96 [kinda like the Browning HP is an evolution derived from the M1911].
Too bad they didnt make very many

That is, AWSOME. If I was going to red dot ANY pistol, it would be an RMR...oh, wait, I did that to a Glock 21. Don't listen to the old fuddy duddys, red dots are the way of the future, just like HUDs replaced the old "crosshairs" for air to air duels, and Red Dots have become the primary sight for combat rifles.
And the RMR is tough enough to fit the bill [Glock 21 with a slide mounted RMR, never misses a beat and always puts the bullet where I want it].
Id want that pistol in 7.62x25 Tok though ...but thats cause I'm WEIRD!

I like this version of the grip. Nice improvements everywhere compared to the original (already quite cool) broomhandle!

To be honest, I think the love of them is just down to subjective appeal. It isn't one of the most reliable weapons, neither was the Luger, or the Borchardt C-93, but they were early advancements into the realm of the semi-automatic pistol made in Germany.

Overall, they were never the most accurate, reliable, or powerful of pistols, but they were distinctive, and most definitely pushing forwards the progress of technology. As well, as being of German manufacture, which to some, is important.

I asked mainly because it dropped so many people in WWII. Or so I thought. Well, thanks for the info anyway.

Does it use clips or magazines?

10 round stripper clips, the floor-plate while removable does not allow for the installation of a removable magazine.

Wasn't there an automatic mauser variant with a 20rd mag?
The mods here with that would be pretty damn awesome.

There was, but a fully automatic weapon isn't exactly great for match shooting...

tru.
Forgot that. I was thinking from a military angle. But remember, the C96 holster doubles as a stock.

It's beautiful, man. Haven't seen someone ballsy enough to attempt it before, though. Nice.
