Description
Houndour and Houndoom male and female variations! For a contest at . Decided to keep it simple with a mix of vector and solid shading. Overall, I like the results.Male Houndour: Spiked bone helmet, bones on back and front legs, orange belly
Female Houndour: Longer snout, no horns on helmet, duller coloring, necklace-like bones around neck, smaller feet, longer tail
Male Houndoom: No ears, several curling horns on head, bones along back and base of tail, orange back feet
Female Houndoom: Longer snout, two curling horns, bone necklace, much thinner and more elegant, orange stripes on back in place of bones, long curling tail with bone tail ring

Your digital style is so slick! I really like it because it is bold, smooth, and expressively effective with well-done anatomy and just the right attention paid to things like depth and texture. I also love the use of colored lines (and the smoothness of those lines), as well as the shading. Awesome work portraying the environment, in addition to the Pokemon. The lava bubbling in the foreground is amazing, especially how its warm light reflects on the gray stone, and I'm impressed by the texture on the cinder cones in the backdrop.
As an entry to the #pokedorks contest, this is also great. Very clever changing up the bone placements and horns while also playing with their colors. That creates good, solid differences between the genders without deviating too much from the fiery hound theme of these Pokemon. Best of luck to you!

Thanks peachfuzz! You always notice those extra little details I put more effort into the background than I usually do, so it's nice when people say something about it.

I love this piece! The colors work together nicely and the differences between the two genders, while subtle, are effective and make a big difference. I could tell which ones were male and female almost immediately. Your background is fantastic as well.
Wonderful work! Good luck with the contest!

Thanks for all the great compliments! I'm really glad someone mentioned the background. Usually they aren't my thing, but I thought I did pretty well with this one.
