Sarah Jane Smith: Final Report page 9. By Paul Hanley (story, colour and lettering) with pencils and inks by me.
I've always been a big fan of U.N.I.T. and especially Sergeant Benton.
Paul says: Sorry about the delays in getting these pages out. Purely on me, not Shawn. Paying work has been plentiful lately, plus I'm juggling some other projects behind the scenes that make it difficult to find time for this.
Panel 4 is our tribute to the late, great Philip Madoc, another luminary of the Doctor Who world who we lost this year. He was like the Lon Chaney Sr of Who, the guy played so many parts. Seemed appropriate to bring him back one more time as a new character, rather than an old one.
Panel 5 is going to cause controversy, I'm sure. All I can (mysteriously) say is: Time War; Cracks in Time; don't believe everything you read; past tense doesn't equate to a death certificate. Also, the book DAMAGED GOODS had him still alive in 2015. And if ya think that complicates things, wait'll I tell ya that Russell T. Davies was the guy that wrote it!
If you're enjoying this comic, and feel like giving us a "tip", may I suggest giving to your local cancer charities. US readers may want to donate to this one: [link]

Benton! Yates! Jo! Sorry, no idea who the guy in panel 4 is... HARRY! Oh that's a lovely touch, especially since everyone is so convinced he's dead. Not convinced personally myself. And even Natalie... simply wonderful
And I loved the little reference to Iris. Really loving this comic, Guys!

Panel four is Paul and I's respectful nod to Philip Madoc (Brain of Moribus, The War Games, etc.). We actually went back and forth on including Harry. At the end of the day we figured that's what fan comics are for.

I'm glad you did include him. Harry Sullivan is one of my favourite Companions, and while I would be happy if they decided he was dead officially, I prefer to think that he is alive and kicking somewhere.
That's a really sweet nod towards Philip Madoc, one I'm sure he would've appreciated. It is truly sad that you have to include it though

Me too. I always liked Harry. Yeah and now apparently Janet Fielding has cancer. [link] Was there some kind of radiation leak at Television Centre?

Wait is that meant to be Dona in the last panel? I recognise John Benton and Jo Grant. But who are the others?

No, not Donna Noble. That's Natalie Redfern one of the main characters from the Big Finish Sarah Jane Smith audio stories. Panel 2 is Mike Yates, formerly of U.N.I.T. Panel 3 is a young Philip Madoc. He played several characters in Doctor Who over the decades. Panel 5 is Harry Sullivan.

Another incredible piece. When I first read this, Jo's panel was my favorite (loved the twin reference), but now it's definately panel 5. Love Harry!

I've always had a soft spot for Harry as well.

Love your versions of the older characters - and that is Natalie at the end there, isn't it? Really, really good

Why thank you kindly. Yes, that's Natalie. It was fun to have a young Madoc in there as well.

I'm very impressed with your art (and deeply envious as well...if you wake up with different hands one day, expect me to be lurking, Vincent Price style, around the corner, squandering your talents )

I love that movie! Well, anything with Vincent Price really. Thank you. It's been challenging to age some of the actors and try to capture likenesses.

Yeah I can imagine that Ian Marter would have presented a real problem. Yet you've done a spectacularly good job.
Most of Price's stuff is brilliant

Thanks. I was worried about that one. I basically kept him the same but added gray hair and wrinkles.
My favorite Vincent Price movie is probably His Kind of Woman [link] He's just awesome in that.

I think you did a brilliant job of him
I have never seen that movie...and it's got Jane Russell in it. Love her

It's a crazy fun flick. Price is a master ham in it. Mitchum is just...well, Mitchum. Jane Russell is awesome.

I still think he's up to something. Trying to revive Moribus or something...

Or it's a War Lord plot. Makes sense- UNIT and all.
It'd be a real pisser if it had something to do with a Kroll/Krotons alliance. Maybe they were sat next to each other at the Pandorica Luncheon (alhabetical tables and all...) and hit it off.

Man, I always wanted Madoc (from The War Games) to turn out to be The Master. I still kinda half believe he is.
