This is last terms work for university. It was developed according to the conditions of Xella student competition 2013/14. The task was to create an archive in the midst of Kassel for all the documents and works the documenta leaves behind. Inside there is to be found the archive itself, a library and rooms to showcase sculptures and art. The site itself was pretty delicate, I'd say. A very difficuelt one that demanded a special solution. Here is mine.
The dOCUMENTA itself has transformed Kassel from what it was to what it is. However inbetween these exhibitions nothing stays. It vanishes as fast as it appeared. I told myself there has to be something that stays. Something that sets a mark. Moreover Kassel could not show monuments that did not date back some hundred years, just like there was nothing of importance that would deserve a landmark ourtimes. So this tower became the manifestation of the important role the dOCUMENTA and Kassel have for each other. It's located in walking distance to the main location of the exhibition itself, in the heart of the city and visible all over Kassel.
