Description Five bajillion people have asked me how to properly install and use Plugins on UTAU. So, despite how there's probably other tutorials on this (I'm too lazy to search), I decided to piece one together because I'm too lazy to do a video on it.

Sorry you all have to suffer through my handwriting. Why I didn't type the things is beyond me.

Like I say in it, try to figure out what went wrong if it isn't showing up/it isn't performing its function, and if nothing works THEN ask me and I'll try to help you work it out. Also, please please PLEASE tell me if I forgot something or said something wrong in this tutorial.

Hope this helps people!

ALSO. Since I know people will ask about it, here's where you can get the Romaji to Hiragana plugin: utaforum.net/thread-romaji-to-…
UTAU Plugin Directory is here (All Japanese site; just scroll down to the table): www20.atwiki.jp/utaou/pages/36…
I'm having trouble finding the thread on UTAforum that explains the useful ones. Feel free to dig around for tips, plugins, how-tos, and stuff on these UTAforum boards: utaforum.net/board-software-pl… utaforum.net/board-tutorials-r…
IF YOU'RE USING A 4.0 OR LATER VERSION OF UTAU: To get plugins to work you need to go to Tools > Options > Others and check the box next to "Output..." and make sure the box below says "(All)".

NOTE that some plugins may not work without Japanese local or AppLocale. Many rely on Japanese inside .txt files, which turns to gibberish without the locale change, so I am unsure what will work and what won't.

UTAU (c) Ameya
Plugins (c) Creators (I don't remember who made the CV to VCV and Romaji to Hiragana plugins...)

I`m having a lot of problems with the romaji to kana plugin. I`ve installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled it about seven times now, but it still refuses to work :c when I select the notes and chose the plugin, the command prompt comes up as if it`s going to do something, but then it just closes, and nothing changes.

Do you have Japanese locale?
And I'm pretty sure the plugin is only romaji to hiragana unless you edit it.

shinamiEBA In reply to kikuhiko [2013-01-05 15:54:42 +0000 UTC]

Well, you can edit it.

Just open the .txt file romantokana_phone and you'll see everything. Now, just copy that list and reverse the order. Also, it's missing some things like wo/uo, maybe the Vs though I don't remember because I edited mine ages ago. You'll know when you try to use it on a UST and one isn't translated. XD

Uhm.. Small question =^u^=

By download UTAU does it take up much space? I don't want my new computer to be like my last hand-me-down where it shut off soon as i logged on T3T
Thanks
~Snow

shinamiEBA In reply to Ao-Yuki [2013-01-04 20:41:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh, it's not UTAU that takes up space at all. UTAU is very small. If you're worried about space have very little GB to your computer, then download USTs and voicebanks sparingly - that's the real bulk to UTAU. USTs actually don't take up much space but the WAVs and .cache folders they generate over time can build up to a LOT.

Ao-Yuki In reply to shinamiEBA [2013-01-05 03:25:02 +0000 UTC]

The WAVs and cache folders are the audio that you make right? *Sorry, trying to learn all this stuff slowly XD*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shinamiEBA In reply to Ao-Yuki [2013-01-05 03:28:36 +0000 UTC]

Oh, WAVs are the audio. Lets say you have a three minute sound file that might be 3MB as an MP3. As a WAV, it's probably 30MB. Though WAV quality is higher (and it's the only way Vocaloid and UTAU export). Cache folders are what UTAU creates for easy remembering when you play an UTAU through something you just played it through, and while useful I suggest every few months cleaning out all the built-up cache folders.

Umm...what? Install what? Plugins? You don't install plugins, just put them in the folders.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shinamiEBA In reply to Kitkat-Paints [2012-12-29 18:39:42 +0000 UTC]

Oh, okay. Unfotunately I can't do it myself right now (you know, an administrator needs to let you do it, ugh), but I think I remember. Open up the installer and just continue hitting the box that has the (N) next to all the Japanese, and then eventually it should finish and there should only be a single button to click that closes the installer. I recommend for you either 4.15 or 4.16, whichever is available currently, because ye olde 2.76 which I use requires a res file pack you download to be in english.

Oh and you did change your computer to Japanese locale first, right?

Kitkat-Paints In reply to shinamiEBA [2012-12-29 21:43:36 +0000 UTC]

oh, I did all that before, that's the direction that got my computer crashed.

shinamiEBA In reply to Kitkat-Paints [2012-12-29 22:13:25 +0000 UTC]

...Installing a program shouldn't cause your computer to crash. It's likely either a hardware issue or you have some viruses. I'd ask your parents or get it checked out.

I checked and it's working fine. ono
Here, what you do is in Tools > Options check the box for "Output the entry blah blah blah" an in the dropdown make sure it's on (All).

THERE'S A PLUGINS FOLDER?! WHERE?

(I'm using UTAU version 0.2.76)

shinamiEBA In reply to LuxSomnium [2012-12-27 16:29:49 +0000 UTC]

Some people keep reporting that they don't have one. If you don't simply make a folder called "plugins" and it should be fine.

sorry to bother you if you already got it working, but UTAU sometimes doesn't come with a plugins folder. c: if you don't have one, make one and then install the plugins ^^

Sorry for the very late reply, I was on a hiatus. ;;

Anyways, that should happen. Try opening it as an administrator? I have no clue why it would do that, no has ever brought that up.

had a problem with my plugins not wanting to show up under tools>plug-ins
had everything set up accordingly so I got ridiculously confused but figured out it was because my plug-ins folder was labeled wrong
"plugins" is how it's suppose to be named. Any other way becomes unreadable to utau.
