Description Five bajillion people have asked me how to properly install and use Plugins on UTAU. So, despite how there's probably other tutorials on this (I'm too lazy to search), I decided to piece one together because I'm too lazy to do a video on it.

Sorry you all have to suffer through my handwriting. Why I didn't type the things is beyond me.

Like I say in it, try to figure out what went wrong if it isn't showing up/it isn't performing its function, and if nothing works THEN ask me and I'll try to help you work it out. Also, please please PLEASE tell me if I forgot something or said something wrong in this tutorial.

Hope this helps people!

ALSO. Since I know people will ask about it, here's where you can get the Romaji to Hiragana plugin: utaforum.net/thread-romaji-to-…
UTAU Plugin Directory is here (All Japanese site; just scroll down to the table): www20.atwiki.jp/utaou/pages/36…
I'm having trouble finding the thread on UTAforum that explains the useful ones. Feel free to dig around for tips, plugins, how-tos, and stuff on these UTAforum boards: utaforum.net/board-software-pl… utaforum.net/board-tutorials-r…
IF YOU'RE USING A 4.0 OR LATER VERSION OF UTAU: To get plugins to work you need to go to Tools > Options > Others and check the box next to "Output..." and make sure the box below says "(All)".

NOTE that some plugins may not work without Japanese local or AppLocale. Many rely on Japanese inside .txt files, which turns to gibberish without the locale change, so I am unsure what will work and what won't.

UTAU (c) Ameya
Plugins (c) Creators (I don't remember who made the CV to VCV and Romaji to Hiragana plugins...)

Ah, I didn't know it would do that since I've always assumed everyone would title it "plugins". Thanks for that info, if should help in the future if others have the same issue!

At first I thought the folder naming needed to sync up with how it's labeled under tools. That's how most programs do it. So yeah, heads up for anyone who labeled there's wrong like I did!

I used both the Lyric Diphonizer and the one you got on the tutorial and it still doesn't work.
I tried putting my plugins folder into my Program Files UTAU folder AND my utau0276 folder.
It DOES show up on the Tools > Plug-Ins thing, but when I click it, it doesn't work.

Hmmm, do you follow what I do precisely? When using the CV > VCV plugin (Diphonizer), are you selecting Hiragana CV notes with no prefixes? It only works on those. And do you have Japanese loale? If not it may not work regardless.

Meep, sorry for the late reply, I was essentially on hiatus all summer.

...I have no idea why it would do that? Maybe try copy/pasting it into the folder or extracting it in a different manner?

Meep, sorry for the late reply, I was essentially on hiatus all summer.

Anyways, I barely use any of them - a lot are editors for Mode 1 which, now that I think about it, are obsolite because of the Mode 1 to Mode 2 converter plugin.

Hmm, you're in the UTAU directory right? Well, if you are and just don't, just make one. New Folder> Type "plugins"

PinkutoMomo32 In reply to RedSakuraWolf [2012-04-17 08:39:03 +0000 UTC]

Okay.. after I commented that I don't have a plugin folder.. wel.. I figured out how to make one
Steps:
1. Make a folder. Rename it "plugins". BE SURE THE SPELLING IS CORRECT.
2. Put all of your plugins in that folder.
3. Open up your UTAU. Go to Tools>Plug-ins. There. If there isn't any Reload it.

Hope it helped

There's a looooot. I don't even know what all of them do, sorry. DX There's various things like UST converters (CV to VCV, CV to V, Romaji to Hiragana, etc), editers, etc. Too much.

oki x'D
I got another converter that's not in the utau program but it can turn ust into romanji or hiragana, which is effektive since it will take longer for me to add hiraganas to me utaus since they have extra sounds to..and that I'm lazy heh..'
But it's nice that they got those things :')

shinamiEBA In reply to KyokiRose [2012-01-22 19:53:34 +0000 UTC]

[link] Go down to UTAU Translations and download the English file into your UTAU folder. Then, take out the "res" file and put it in with all the other folders, samplers, etc. From now on, whenever you open that UTAU via shortcut or whatever, UTAU is in english.

Umm, how to clarify how to clarify...Well, you click download, download it somewhere, then you open your UTAU folder (It's either on your desktop or in Programs, depending on if you downloaded the UTAU folder originally or just the installer), open the file you just downloaded, and drag/drop it into the UTAU folder. It's the res file, so it should be like this: [link] (I have lots of extra stuff though).

That help? D:

iBurrito In reply to ??? [2012-01-18 00:24:43 +0000 UTC]

I was wondering, (I've been searching this, and a few other things for a while now) how did you get your program in full English? And yes, I do mean full.

Any time that I download a program translated into English, it's only partly, and any other characters that aren't English, part up as f's and question marks. None of them are symbols you would find in a completely English program.

>3< Excuse me if I make no sense. I'm not really tech savvy.

Do you know how I can make my voice bank (that is, when I get to it. >_>) to.. register romaji?

How do I word that? D:

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shinamiEBA In reply to iBurrito [2012-01-22 20:03:29 +0000 UTC]

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I looked around for a video that could explain this quickly, but I soon found either it's 10 minute long tutorials for UTAU overall or I just couldn't find one specific enough.

Anyways, first of all, for the english part go to [link] Go down to UTAU Translations and download the English file into your UTAU folder. Then, take out the "res" file and put it in with all the other folders, samplers, etc. From now on, whenever you open that UTAU via shortcut or whatever, UTAU is in english.

However, from what you're describing, your computer is not in Japanese locale. Having your computer in Japanese locale allows it to display and download correctly Japanese, so you can use VCV banks and banks like Kasane Teto and Namine Ritsu and the bank that comes with UTAU, Defoko. This explanation is going to be a bit long.

First, you'll need to uninstall UTAU before changing locale. The process I'm going to explain is for Windows 7 or Vista. Go to Start > Contol Pannel > Uninstall a Program. Go to the bottom, and if you aren't administrator, have your parent uninstall it.

Next is Japanese Locale. Just so you know, it doesn't do much - your computer will still be in english, and only small, random things you never use and maybe iTunes will be Japanese. I'm not sure about iTunes since I don't use it, but if something goes wrong with that Googling stuff can help. Go to Start > Control Pannel > Clock, Language, and Region > Change Location > Administrative > Change System Locale. If you aren't Administrator, again, your parent needs to do it, and again, it doesn't do much but let Japanese stuff work now. After it's changed, restart the computer and reinstall UTAU. Now Defoko will work and you can download Japanese banks!

The final matter, of making banks register romaji...you're going to need to watch some UTAU tutorials if you don't know what terms like Hirigana Encoded/Romaji Encoded/Aliases mean. Just watch some tutorials and it should click as to how to make romaji work with banks. Tutorials are EVERYWHERE, especially for CV, the basic form you'll likely be working with.

Whew. Long reply is long. Hope this helps and you have fun with UTAU!

Hmm... I have a problem.

I have downloaded the VCV to CV plugin, but.. the Japanese in the notepad file called plusgin is not Japanese. just strange stuff. What do i rename the name of it into?!

shinamiEBA In reply to FierceFlash [2012-01-08 01:05:48 +0000 UTC]

(Sorry I took so long to reply. ; A ; )

I bet 100% your problem is that you don't have Japanese locale. Japanese becomes mojibake (nonsense) when downloaded without Japanese locale, which is why people who haven't changed their locale to Japan can't use Japanese encoded banks - they download incorrectly. Anyways, just go ahead and replace the mojibake name with VCV to CV, but just so you know I don't know if it'll work without the correct locale.

If you do have the correct locale I am befuddled.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FierceFlash In reply to shinamiEBA [2012-01-08 04:30:58 +0000 UTC]

And i don't need Japanese locale.. (I am not using UTAU as a Japanese school..)

I tried, and it won't show up in the plugins menu.
