Finally, the male anatomy counterpart to the ladies tutorial from a month or two ago
I decided not to address the male genitalia this time around... one reason being cuz I don't think they are drawn as often as the female parts, and secondly because I suck at them XD I won't link directly but if you click here you can find a separate link to another tutorial that I found interesting on a non-DA art site.
Oh yeah, sorry the colors are hellla ugly. I was feeling uninspired.

Such a great tutorial. Not to mention the hilarious comments. It definitely deserved the daily deviation.
But the main purpose of this comment is body hair. What is up with body hair, anyway? I've got hair on my lower arms and legs, but not on the upper, and hair down the middle of my chest, but not on the ribs. It's just like what you describe up there, but what the hell? What possible evolutionary advantage would there be to loosing hair on your upper arms, ribs, and the sides of your belly, but not anywhere else? Science demands an answer!

Haha, well as far as I know hair is all about heat regulation? making sure your muscles gain or lose heat as necessary (for example, the hair on your head aids in keeping your brain cool esp since it is the most exposed part of your body). Its also for protecting certain areas from invading... stuff. I don't really understand how it applies practically though, like what the hell does the happy trail do? Well aside from looking nice XD

XD sexual selection makes the most sense. We had a discussion about it, I remember, in evolution class in college. Since only men have facial hair and it only grows after puberty, it's pretty obviously a sexual signal. But women don't seem to prefer men with beards, so what selective pressure keeps them around? It's a mystery.
Heat regulation: okay, so the lower arms and legs need more heat regulation than upper arms and legs?
Here's an idea: I know that when I have a lot of stuff in my pockets, they press against my skin and rub off the hair. So maybe it's just clothing that rubs off hair. That would be easy to check. Are there any hairy naked savages out there who can help us shed some light on the issue?

The reason hair is lacking in certain areas is actually not because of a biology. It's simply friction. The areas of the body that are constantly in friction with another part (The bottom of the arm against the side of the body for instance), tend to rub away the little hairs that are there.
... At least... that's how it was explained to me.
