Description
The point when all life ends, and the very begining to when life can start once more.Been working on this piece for a while, so I hope this is a nice intro into me working on art again. I know I haven't submitted anything in a while. My life kinda feels like my artwork at the moment. Anyway I hope you like it and all the work I poured into it.

Im sorry its taken so long for the print, but I wanted the piece to be perfected
before I send it off to Expose as well as Prints.

Texture work and painting really. You just tend to look for textures that match the effect you're going for.

that is very well done. Question, I'm taking a class in digital matte painting in a few weeks. are there any resources/tutorials online (free ones I mean) that you have found helpful in creating this?

um greg martin comes to mind, i pretty much studied his work in and out. figured out how he did things, that sort of thing.
the 3d work is pretty much self taught messing around with 3dstudio max.
the other stuff is just self taught photoshop things - texture works, layer modes, that sorta thing.
my original stuff really sucked and i pushed myself to redo many of my works to make them better.
so its really 2-3 years of trial and error.

Well i did not use a tutorial, I just studied explosion photos and sorta painted that way.

when i saw the thumbnail i thought the second planet was some kind of blast wave from the impact

Actually all my prints are on sale for 15 dollars, and thats for the largest size.
I dont get any profit for it, so you should take advantage of it while you can.
I used a mixture of textures, photographs, and painting to make the image.
Its hard to pinpoint what I did where since this was made such a long time ago.

I think as far as realism and details go, you have made this pretty solid. My only criticism is that is does not look like the fire surrounds the crashing planet, and furthermore, the planet does not look like is has even impacted Earth in this moment yet...
