Starbase Trafalgar

In orbit of Eroni V, Federation Deuterium Mining and Refinery Planet

The USS Volker and USS Hercules approach the newly completed Starbase Trafalgar in orbit of Eroni V. The two starships belonging to Starfleet’s Corps of Engineers, were dispatched following Admiral Henry Hollander’s request for assistance.

The Federation Council approved the construction of the Starbase mega-structure to increase Starfleet’s presence in a valuable energy producing system. Increased border skirmishes by alleged Klingon “rogues” prompted Starfleet to post an unprecedented force to defend the system. Two Constitution-class heavy-cruisers, three Akyazi-class perimeter action ships and one Akula-class escort vessel patrolled the system while the USS Enterprise-B led a contingent of Starfleet’s most powerful ships to patrol the trade routes that criss-crossed the sector and were ripe for pirate activity.

While elements of the Federation Council opposed this mass build-up of military hardware and the threatening posture towards the Klingon Empire, the Miner’s Guild welcomed the increased Starfleet presence.

The Starbase, while being completed, was far from fully operational. The two deuterium refineries and storage facilities were running but the station’s main sensor suites and defence systems were not.

With Klingon raids intensifying across the sector and the upcoming secret trials of the USS Wyvern, Admiral Hollander wanted those systems and was grateful that the Corps of Engineers sent the assets they had.

The Volker and the Hercules would be joining their fellow S.C.E ship, the USS Barcelona who had been present at Trafalgar since the station was complete.

If only they knew the storm that was coming…
