Description
In the end I was too lazy to finish the picture... My pencil drawings are always kind of sketchy, that's why I'm always having trouble colouring them digitally... Maybe I'll even try to just colour it traditionally instead of using my lame computer >w<Anyway, a little picture belonging to DGM's nonsensical but funny "Zombie Arc". Of course in Ivory Tales (which means girl!Allen) style! *lol*
Chibi!Kanda (dressed up in English fashion thanks to Ellen) needs some help it seems ;3
(The thing she is carrying around is just a random package *lol*)
D.Gray-Man belongs to Katsura Hoshino

Cross is very mysterious... How loyal is he to the 14th? Levrrier said it was someone from the BO who had Cross killed, because it was their work. But that could have been to mislead us... but I like the idea that the Bo is willing to kill its exorcists, even strong ones that they need to win the war, for political reasons. Socalo Winters was supposed to be executed before the BO found him, so the BO is willing to do questionable things to defeat the Earl.
I like Kobayashi Sanae's voice. It was a nice pitch to it. Most female voices are really high and squeaky.
Alto had been living at the SMS base while he was working for that group, but when the Macross Quarter revolted, he no longer had a place to live. I assumed that he rented that apartment afterward.
I love details, so the blanks left by Macross F really annoys me.
The fandom seems to be very small and I haven`t found much.

I'm sure Cross has his own agenda and probably doesn't follow the 14th just because he happens to think the 14th has nice plans (because becoming the next Earl of Millennium somehow sounds as if he'd just continue a different kind of reign of terror, but I might be wrong and the being called Millennium Earl could benefit humanity if "used" correctly). Yes, Leverrier did say it was someone from Central, but who other than the Crows could kill or dispose of Cross - who's a very able exorcist? And I thought the Crows tend to follow Leverrier's orders because we've seen him surrounded by Crows many times until now. But I might think that just because Link follows him so obediently. If the Vatican has the ability to counter Innocence then maybe there are also fighters able to kill exorcists (beause it would be dangerous relying on people that cannot be controlled and disposed of if they ever go against their wishes...). Well, even a sinner could be a saint it seems - and if God (or whoever) choses to give a murderer Innocence... well... It does seem kind of strange, because none of the exorcists (maybe expect Tiedoll?) is particularily virtuous or devoted. So Innocence does not care one bit about things like that and the Vatican just plays along. The good thing is that nobody knows what kind of shady people the Vatican uses, because it's secret anyway. Ah, that's interesting to think about.
Yes! Though I sometimes thought she didn't get Allen's emotions across as I expected to hear them (mostly when she was shouting, but I imagine that it might be difficult sounding like a boy when shouting *lol*), but overall I really liked her, especially when Allen spoke more gently, it was really nice! And I'd like to hear her speak more characters, but other than Cathy and Allen I don't know her voicing anybody (at least nobody comes to my mind at the moment).
I wonder if the various Manga give more information about backgrounds but I doubt it... Which is kind of sad. Also that not much is done to cover these blanks by fanworks! I'd do something for it but I don't have the time now! And I'm Ranka biased anyway ;3 (though I must say that I don't really dislike Sheryl anymore, she has quite a bit of character development and I approve of it so I can't overlook that just because I like Ranka better)

I wonder when Cross got involved with the 14th. Did they ever meet face-to-face? I don't think the timeline would allow for an actual meeting. I really look forward to finding out Cross' true motivation to helping the 14th. It seems impossible that Cross would be anyone's follower. So I di think he muts have his own plan or the 14th promised him something-a world without the Earl? I thknk Cross might want to save the world, he may be even doing a 'noble' thing. But does he know what the 14th actually has planned-to replace the current Earl? And what type of position would the 14th take? Maybe he wants to save his siblings? It seemed in the past he really cared for the Earl, but was that an act? Or did something happen in the past to make the 14th turn on the Earl? I really wants answers~ This makes waiting a month very difficult~
It seems to be that Cross was killed by the BO. I had first suspected that Link had done it... but now I don't think so.
The BO knows that the exorcists aren't necessarily loyal to them, so it is useful for them to have a way to control their "pawns".
Tiedoll seems to be the only one who could be considered religious. I remember during the level 4's attack on Central, Tiedoll was actually wearing priest clothes and wears a cross. Winters is very crazy and an ex-convict, and just doesn't seem to be religious (she wears pants and drinks wine).
She doesn't voice main characters often... *sigh* She was the main character in Hatenko Yugi, along side Kanda's voice actor~ It wasn't a bad anime, and I really like the characters she voiced. Razel wasn't a naive girl, but actually cunning and strong. I remember there was talk of Koybayashi voicing Oscar in a new Rose of Versailles
The Macross F manga is actually based on the anime. It only gave one background scene for Alto scene so far. he was arguing with his father, saying there was no point in being in his family if he couldn't do what he wanted. I don't know exactly what he meant: did he mean what was the point of having a family if they didn't accept you, or was it something more small-minded?
I'm glad that you have a better opinion of Sheryl now~ Her sad past appeals to me more that Ranka's.

Maybe Cross formed a deal with the 14th because he expected some merit out of it - he's a scientist after all (and a magician, there probably are some secrets the 14th could teach him) and I doubt Cross would do anything just because it's noble or good for humanity.
It's a good thing we only have to wait for another week until we'll get a new chapter! I'm quite excited, but before we get any answers to what kind of relationship the Earl and the 14th had we probably get Kanda's backstory first. Not that I'm complaining!
I think it would be great to have more of the DGM Anime (with better quality) and have her voice Allen again! ^w^ But I guess that's just wishful thinking... I don't know Hatenko Yugi, but I watched "Lady Oscar" when I was a child! That brings back fond memories, hehe.
Hm, seems like a typical teenager thing to do... If he doesn't get a bit of space to move in freely within the family, then he'll leave. He was fine with following the road his father made him walk (that of a Kabuki actor) before, but maybe seeing more of the world outside of his family made him realize that Kabuki and his father's teachings are not all there is... Oh, I don't know...
I still like Ranka more though! ;3 Well, we haven't seen much of Sheryl's past or how she ended up on the streets... The experience probably shaped the way she is now though. Ranka was well sheltered with Ozma, therefore there was no real reason for her to be as strong and independant as Sheryl is.

Hm, it is certainly strange to think that Cross ever did anything out of the goodness of his heart. But he would have been much younger when he joined up with the 14yh. Maybe he was an idealistic youth? It seems doubtful.
I hope that the next chapter comes out soon~ I hope the holidays don't delay it too much. I imagine the entire chapter will he Kanda-back story. Chapters are less than 50 pages, so it might not even fully tell Kanda's past.
I never got to see Rose of Versailles, but Kobayashi will be Oscar in the 2010 movie! Kanda's voice actor also has a small part in it-as her ungrateful and brief fiance! He is not he love interest.
Macross F leaves too many unanswered questions. It styles itself on drama, but leaves out really interesting and dramatic pieces of information, such as Alto's childhood!
Ranka seems to have had an easier childhood, because at least she could not remember the gruesome parts of it and didn't have to live with it. Ozuma also seems to be a very doting big brother. Sheryl had to grow up with having lived in the streets. Macross F really leaves out interesting information!

Hehe, it seems funny to imagine Cross as an idealistic youth, but it might very well be. A young scientists with dreams and ambitions and maybe a way of making everything come true by accepting to be the 14th's follower? Why not!
The chapter was out incredibly early this time! After two days of not switching on my computer I check the internet and there it was! On the 26th! >w< Crazy, but it was great! And I guess Kanda's backstory will go on for a bit longer...
I want to see that movie! (Not only because of Kobayashi and Sakurai, even though both are great! I get ridiculously amused when voice actors I know for certain roles are part in another anime. I usually don't care that much about voice actors - and often forget their names - but sometimes I'm just so amazed by what they can do with their voices!) Ah, Lady Oscar...! And I can't even remember her fiance, only the guy she apparently loved if my memory's right, because I remember almost nothing of it...
Maybe Sheryl didn't live long on the streets? She was picked up by Grace after all and we don't know (or I don't remember) how she ended up on the streets - what happened to her mother? Or her father? (The series is overall strange when it gets to parents; the fathers are always out of the picture, or tyriannical in Alto's case and the mothers are... well, dead for some reason or another.) Anyway, that doesn't change the fact that she remembers her past, other than Ranka, that's true. Recalling her past didn't really change Ranka though... But she was urged to go out and find out the truth.
Ah... It could all have been done better... It just was not the focus of the series (but then what exactly was?)

I was pleasantly surprised to see ch. 190 up. The chapter was also very short! Only about 30 pages!
It turns out Kanda was always had an unpleasant personality~ I had thought it would be funny if he was a sweet child, but this works too. I predict another 2 chapters before Kanda's back story is finished.
I like how Sakurai's voice sounds~
The fiance only has a brief appearance I believe. After Oscar wears men's clothes to the engagement party and dances with women, the engagement is called off.
Rose of Versailles had such a dark ending...
Macross F is very weak on actual back story, which is strange because drama anime's usually are very detailed in regards to the past.
there are no mothers! None of the main characters have mothers~ Michael, Alto, Sheryl, Ranka, and Luka (maybe, his brothers are only mentioned). Fathers are also absent, for the most part.
What as the focuc of the series: SINGING AND PLANES. Lots of pop musical songs and flashy plane fights.

That's true, the chapter was kind of short... maybe the next will be longer. We haven't really seen much about Kanda's past yet, we just know what kind of personality he has (or had) and that he saw a certain woman / ghost who might end up being his "that person"... But I found it very touching to see how sad young Kanda was even though he put up an angry front most of the time (just like Allen and his bratty attitude...). And I'm starting to like Alma a bit better than I did when I first saw him.
*lol* Singing and planes... I just think that if anybody wanted to convince me to watch the series and gave me that as a summary I'd probably wouldn't be all too keen on it. But that's actually what it's about... Visuals and music take a way bigger part in the anime than any character development does... Especially constuction of backstory and motivation... They just gave us some hints and left it there... Meh... But still, I enjoyed the series - maybe I was taken in by flashy plan fights and pop music (because I did think some of the songs were nice and some scenes in the anime totally worth watching)

I wonder who "that person" is. when I was reading the raws, I had thought that woman in the lab coat, Twyi Chan, might be the woman Rhode mentioned. But it seems to have been the woman in the mist. It also looked like she was carrying something, like a sword or pole.
Kanda did have his moments of actually acting like a kid-he even had a few tears in his eyes.
I can understand why he hates Alma. Even though they have such depressing lives, are almost tortured, Alma is still happy. I guess Kanda has no illusions as to why they exist, and is very bitter about it.
I cannot say Alma and Allen act similar, but Alma actually seems to believe in being happy, while Allen is acting.
I think that all Macross series are about singing and planes and love. I agree, most of the music was good, though I usually don't like pop. and the visuals were stunning.
