Glad to know it helped! I can't wait to see what you do with it!
Haha, I remember just a little while ago, someone told me I needed a colorizing example and I'm like "What the heck is that?" Their explanations were so confusing... xP

This is really helpful, but I have a question. How do you colour it without going out of the original image? Since you're making a new layer to do it, you can't lock that, right? So, how do you make so that you can just take a big brush and go over it in the colour you want?

So like a guard-rail thing along the edge of the image so that you don't go over the lines? Is that what you're asking?
Hmm... I'm not really sure how to do that. I've only done it once or twice the right way, but you can try my way if you like.
Directions:
1. make a new layer on top of the one that you want to colorize.
2. add a layer mask on that new layer.
3. select the layer that you want to colorize, and use the Magic Wand selection tool to select everything EXCEPT the subject matter of the layer. [[if you wanted to go directly off this tutorial, then select everything on the layer that's left blank, i.e. the parts that aren't the horse]]
4. go back to your new layer and select the mask. DON'T DESELECT THE IMAGE!
5. get out your paint bucket tool, make sure the color you're painting with is black, and click once inside the selection.
6. Nothing should have changed in your image, so don't worry. Now, select the part that isn't the mask on your new layer, choose a color that you want to use, and color anywhere on the image. It should work so that you can only color over the place where your horse is, and not the background.
Hope that made sense.

There actually is an easier way-- try "lock transparent pixels" in the layers box when there's no background on the image.

I got it from Losmios's tutorial-- handiest thing ever.
No problem. Photoshop is hard-- it's always useful to find better ways to do things.

Not bad, did you mess up on cutting the left foreleg? The hoof looks small....maybe the angle.

You be the judge. The link to the original image is in the comments. But I don't think I messed up. After all, it is a foal. The hooves will be smaller.
