TIME For enhanced EXTREME
by the way can you teach me to add something like a gradient or do you just texture it with a TGA of a gradient (I say TGA because thats the only thing my teacher will let me use)

Gradients are easy and yet annoying
Are you familiar with the surface editor?

When you click on the "t" in the color/spec/bump/whatever channels you can on the top right select what type of layer it is your working iwth...Image map, Procedural, OR GRADIENT! Then you can make a gradient, it is automatically set for I believe one meter? (bottom number below the gradient, can go lower/higher) Then you have different ways to set the gradient to your object. For example pivot point, or bump, slope, previous layer etc. Play around and you'll see what they do.
If you really wanna talk lightwave my skype name is lady_silverbeam
Does that help at all? Otherwise I'll need to actually make a tutorial.
Oh and look up william vaughn's tutorials, they are excellent and many.

Juanbrj In reply to silverbeam [2009-04-17 04:02:15 +0000 UTC]
you just go to surface editor and choose a image you want to use and for bump maps you just desaturated the image and add more contrast and a bit of brightness
by the way do you know how to make people on LW if so can you make a tutorial about it cuz I want to make a statue

yes....But this weekends is gonna be crazy...so you'll have to wait untill next week at the earliest.
I actually have a model I just started so That would work. I'll make a tutorial as I make it.
I like box modeling. the important part is to have a reference image. You can put it into the backgorund through display options (d) Then make a box, tab it for subpatch and then build from there.
look for the tutorial in the next bit.
also check for william vaughn's tutorials at the newtek lightwave forum.
