This weekend I went back to the half-face makeup. I took the one I made previously and beefed it up, adding thickness with cotton batting and texture with gelatin. I must say, gelatin is very fun to play with and creates nice burn textures.Anyways, on to the pictures.
The three hatless pics show the makeup with all the painting and shading done. I actually had time to do a better job on the left side.
Middle is the complete effect. I elected to cover all the makeup on the appliance with liquid latex in order to preserve the colors during the constant removing and replacing of the mask. It also gave it a nice slimy sheen. Stage blood was applied over that in the hollows where gelatin was used. If I look exhausted in the picture, it's because I was (and still am). I took that after I got home last night, around 2 in the bloody morning...
The last pic is the appliance after I finally got to rip it off and get some sleep.
I got lots of compliments on this at work from my coworkers, and lots of screams and "Eeeeews" from the guests. I'm definitely wearing this one to the costume contest.

This is a really original and cool design. Nice work. I also like how you've done some highlights/shadows on the left side instead of the white you had used last week.

Thanks, that means a lot. I meant to do shading on the first go, but I ran out of time. Since the piece had been made and touched up when I started, I had plenty of time to work on the left side.

It's not exactly a day job, I work 3 days every 5 monthes and got paid 110 dollars for this time. Not enough if ya ask me cause I was on my feet the whole freakin time!

As for the pay, I only got $95 for my first pay period at the house, and I do a heck lot more than just stay on my feet.

Never heard of people getting paid to do that. Is is at a retirement home or something?
My job can get very uncomfortable, especially if you're like me and do things that you know are way beyond your fitness level and will result in sore muscles and zillions of bruises. The fun comes from the satisfaction you feel when you make grown men jump a foot in the air and girls run from you screaming.

I'm sure that's what it was. I just thought people's reactions were funny. Some would scream and refuse to look at me, others would stare unabashedly. I even had people taking pictures, with and without the mask.
