Description
Let's get this spreading on Tumblr so more people can play! [link]I took a break from stencils and started sketching different Phantom of the Opera masks. That somehow turned into this. Every one of these is from some kind of version of PotO, including books, movies, and theatrical productions. Each version is only shown ONCE. For example, that little black one is NOT Gerard Butler's PonR mask.
So how many can YOU name? Don't peek in the comments when you guess!
1-3: Ratcatcher
4-6: Stagehand
7-9: Chorus girl
10-12: Manager
13-15: Patron
16-18: Prima Donna
19-21: Opera Ghost
Post your level in the comments!

I got 4, one is form the 2004 movie, another is form Webbers stage play, yet another is form the 1960s adaptation of the phantom and the one with the blood tears is for the Yeston and Kopit musical.

I absolutely adore this image and would like this design on a t-shirt, if at all possible. Do you have an account with this image at an online shirt printing store?

This is awesome! Ok. No peeking or looking up stuff. I HAVE seen POTO reviewer videos but I might not get all the names right, here it goes...
Top row: Cartoon version, ??, Phantom on Ice?, Claude Rains, ??
2nd row: Jane Seymour version, Herbert Lom, Gerik, Charles Dance version, Kopit stage musical, ???
3rd row: Robert Englund, ??, David Staller version, Phantom of Paradise, Lon Chaney, Michael Crawford/ALW
4th row: Leroux version, Phantom of hollywood??, Phantom computer game, ???
Now you just need to add the mask from the amateur film "Erik"!
Gosh the white one on the top right looks SO familiar! Where is it from?!

You are a Patron!
Here are the ones you missed:
White asymmetrical one next to cartoon - Phantom of the Mall
purple shards - Takarazuka production of Kopit
gold asymmetrical - Phantom on Ice
White under the gold one - Ken Hill
little black domino - Old Leroux cover [link]
Little white one under Chaney - Old Kay cover [link]
I think my reasoning for leaving out the amateur film was because it was amateur. I was sticking to professionally produced stuff.
Thanks for playing!

All the ones you've mentioned I'm actually pretty familiar with. Weird how they didn't come to mind though. XD
Have you seen it? It's pretty neat. But I agree, it's amateur-ish.

I didn't get the blue crystall-y one, the weepy bloody one, Phantom of Hollywood, the funny metallic one, or the angry-looking one on the bottom, next to Mystery Legends.

Blue crystals is the Takarazuka production of yeston/kopit Phantom. Weepy blood is from the American production of the same thing. The funny gold metallic one if from Phantom of the Opera on Ice (yes, there is such a thing). Angry one at bottom is from the first mass paperback of Kay Phantom.
Thanks for playing.

Aw, man, and I showed you the video for the american production of kopit! XD. Kay's Phantom - that's not just a reprint of Leroux's, is it?
Also, where can I find those last three - Tarazuka, Hollywood, and on Ice? I must, of course, expand my Phantom knowledge now!XD

You... Don't... Know... Kay? O_O
Susan Kay's Phantom. Google. Now.
As for the other three, it's difficult to find video of them online.
Phantom Reviewer's video of Hollywood: [link] (This one is really pretty stupid, the review is as much as you need to see.)
Ice: Phantom Reviewer also did this one. [link] There are also some good clips: [link] [link] (I haven't seen this one in whole. Never found a full video.)
Tak is still floating around the web in whole. I'll note you.

I know OF Kay, I just haven't read it yet - I saw it on the Kindle Store, but opted to buy Phantom: Edge of the Flame instead, which I totally recommend, by the way. It's like "Wicked," but for Phantom. The only thing I didn't like is that the author can't seem to decide if it takes place in Webber's or Leroux's version of the story....

Sounds like bad fanfiction. You really recommend it? I'm curious but don't want to waste my money on something that reads like it was printed straight off of fanfiction.com.

It's very well written, and the characters have some legitimate depth. The story line usually makes sense, beyond the one flaw I mentioned above. Everyone stays in character, including the Phantom. The way that the Phantom meets and falls for the girl in the story is thought out, and not just "suddenly they meet and fall in loooooooove <3" It may not be the BEST work, by any means, but as a hater of bad fanfiction myself, I can tell you that this is not that.

Fendaris In reply to twilightcross [2012-07-11 03:42:14 +0000 UTC]
Wait. Waitwaitwaitwaitwait, "other girl?!" There's an OC Sue?! Ooooooh, I am DEFINITELY not interested! Uhhh. *shudders* No offense, and it could be the best written fic in the genre, but the Erik/Christine relationship is what makes me love the story so much. I especially love Leroux's Erik, (a hideous, tortured, virtuoso and genius), who falls so hopelessly in love with one single girl so deeply, that losing her literally kills him! And the thought of him simply replacing the girl that is his reason for living, (no matter who the OC is or for what reason or under what circumstances)utterly repulses me because it negates his love for Christine by saying, "He didn't really love Christine specifically. She was just circumstantially available and he jumped at the chance of being with a girl. Any girl. He could definitely love any girl to death if he thinks he has a shot with her! See, I'll show you with this Sue over here! Christine isn't that special." See, I don't buy that. I will never buy that.
I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be contradictory or insult your taste in writing. I'm just fanatically obsessed with Erik and Christine to the point where I avoid all romantic interest OCs like the Bubonic plague!
But thank you for your insight into the story. I appreciate it. But I think I'll pass on actually reading it.

twilightcross In reply to Fendaris [2012-07-11 04:20:45 +0000 UTC]
Ah, normally, I'd agree - but the thing is, it approaches the Christine relationship in a way that is very believable for Erik's character - mainly, that he got bored and decided to start some mayhem. Also, without spoiling the ending, it is suitably tragic. Again, "Edge of the Flame" has my full reccomendation behind it, although I can understand exactly where you're coming from.
(although, really, I think Christine's a bit of a dolt in EVERY version, and I like the strong willed, witty, new girl MUCH better. And she has all those qualities without being a Mary Sue, before that comes up.)

Fendaris In reply to twilightcross [2012-07-12 08:13:06 +0000 UTC]
It sounds like an interesting premise and I'm glad to hear that it was well done. I still am going to pass on it though. E/C FOREVAHHH!!!!
And as for Christine, the best Christine in existence, out of all the movies and spoof books, is the original Leroux's Christine. All the others are stupid, ESPECIALLY Kay's! (There is NO excuse for that abysmal level of retardation!) But the original Christine starts off young and naive and she sort of grows up throughout the book to the point where she becomes way more mature than Raoul. She doesn't choose Erik, no, but she was justifiably terrified of him, so it makes sense. But the others, there's no excuse for them. They're stupid.

twilightcross In reply to Fendaris [2012-07-13 00:32:47 +0000 UTC]
*nod nod* I totally agree. I just thought it amusing that "Edge of the Flame" comments on Christine almost always being a dolt by using her relationship with the Phantom.
Since you probably won't read it, I'll go ahead and break it down for you (SPOILERS):
Basically, Erik decides to cause some trouble at the Opera House by becoming the mysterious trainer and supporter of Christine, whom the book all but says is a naive child. It's actually hilarious. And that secondary relationship underscores the entire novel.

Fendaris In reply to twilightcross [2012-07-16 01:46:45 +0000 UTC]
Ah, yes, definitely not my type of book. In fact, it sounds like every fangirl's fantasy, just with themselves inserted into the place of the oc. Writers who undermine Christine's intelligence, in my opinion, are just as guilty as those who make Raoul out to be nothing but a mindless fop and, Erik, a psychotic murderer. There's more to the characters than that and ignoring it makes for Character Assassination. (To emphasize my point, as well as just for lols, I would like to quote this little jewel from a rather infamous fanfic: "Hermione was kidnapped when she was born. Her real parents are vampires and one of them is a witch but Voldemort killed her mother and her father committed suicide because he was depressed about it. She still has nightmares about it and she is very haunted and depressed. It also turns out her real last name is Smith and not Granger. (Since she has converted to Satanism she is in Slytherin now not Griffindoor.)")

Fendaris In reply to twilightcross [2012-07-18 00:03:28 +0000 UTC]
No, actually, I guarantee that you will die laughing! It's called "My Immortal" but was kicked off of fanfiction.net when it became to popular/excessively flamed to hilarious degrees. But you can find it if you google something like "worst fanfic ever written." You'll have to sort through a lot of sites that only have pieces of it, but if you can actually find the whole thing, it'll be worth it for the 44 chapters of hilariously horrendous spelling errors, Character Assassination, and abject stupidity! Just thinking about it makes me laugh!
To prove my point, here's another little jewel of a quote: "You look kawai, girl." B'loody Mary said sadly. "Fangs (geddit) you do too." I said sadly too, but I was still upset. I slit both of my wrists feeling totally depressed and I sucked all the blood. I cried again in my bathroom and put the shades on so Snap and Loopin couldn't spy on me this time. I went to some classes. Vampire was in the Hair of Magical Magic Creatures. He looked all depressed because Draco had disappeared and he had used to be in love with Draco. He was sucking some blood from a Hufflepuff.
(Oh, and 'B'loody Mary' is Hermione and she's nicknamed Harry 'Vampire!' Bwahaha!)

Let's see. Chaney mask, Claude Rains mask, Herbert Lom mask, Phantom of Hollywood mask, Phantom of Paradise mask, Max Schell mask, cartoon mask, Englund's hat and scarf, Charles Dance mask, Gerry's phantom and zorro masks, ALW mask, Ken Hill mask, Yeston/Kopitt mask, David Staller mask, Yeston/Kopitt japanese mask and the ice show mask. I'm not sure but I'm going to guess the black full mask is the one Erik wore in Leroux's book. The white full mask with flower marking going over right eye... no idea.
How did I do?
