Description This African Elephant and two of his friends were in the road outside the South Luangwa National Park. While we waited to see if they would move (there’s not much else to do when three grown elephants are in your road!), this guy reached up with his trunk, wrapped it around a tree trunk, and began shaking the tree. They do that to release seed pods from the tree, which were apparently ripe for the picking, as they rained down easily to the ground. As the three elephants proceeded to enjoy the seed pods, and we turned back to go another route, I thought it was a very cool demonstration of the power and cleverness of these mighty animals.

Yes, I was truly blessed to see these amazing creatures in the wild. I love zoos, but it's something different entirely to see them in their natural environment just living their lives. Glad you like the photo.
