Description Apophysis 2.04 beta. This image is the result of going back over old flames generated in 2.03b and trying to figure out how to make them better, especially the tiling ones. This one turned out very well, so I thought I'd share it.

Thank you so much! Not a patch on your beautiful drawings though. You and so many others at The Exquisite Corpse have inspired me to pick up a pencil and try drawing again, thank you for that.

Awe schucks! All one can do is try to be good, lol!! Thanks so much for the wonderful praise, we all appreciate the support because we all put a lot of effort into making the corpses the very best and when people like you express your feelings openly, it makes it all worthwhile.

One of the best flames of this type I've seen. Design, colors - got it ALL!

Thank you Rykk. This is one of the most simply constructed fractals I ever made but it took three hours to get the colouring right!

Thank you, this is one of my favourite pieces because it is simplicity itself to create, the colouring part took hours!!

The colors are exquisite. This reminds me of a myriad of mirrored balls, you know the kind covered with little squares of mirror. I always did like those balls.

Thank you, it took about 10 minutes to make the basic fractal and then 3 hours to colour it!! I think the patience paid off though as it has a scintillating look, like mirror balls or cut jewels. I'm a sucker for sparkly things

"I'm a sucker for sparkly things"

Me, too, and I agree with you! It was worth the time spent, definitely. You're welcome.

Thank you

I have a 3cm diameter, diamond cut cubic zirconia it's a lovely thing and it just laps up sunlight. You can get them even bigger than that and one day, when I have the money to spare I will buy one of the huge ones!! (I've got quite a few of the fake diamonds too, I'm doing a jewellery class and hope to set them into something to display in the window.)

Wow! That CZ is quite a rock! I have a couple but nothing anywhere near that big. They're such lovely stones! I think making some kind of tinkly mobile for the window with CZs in it would be neat.

The mobile sounds great and very lovely. I bought loads of fake stones from eBay, some lovely fake diamonds in all colours and each one 1cm in diameter. I bought some real diamonds too a black one a yellow one and a blue one. I want to set them into a ring eventually. I just love the way that cut stones play with light.

All I gotta do is figure out how to mount them.

I have all kinds of pretty twinkly sparkly translucent things. I ought to do something with them.

Have you considered beading wire? You could probably make some 'baskets' to hold things with wire wrapping? I'm going to art college and doing a few part-time courses, one is jewellery. I'm hoping to mount my stones and hang them, probably with silver as it's fairly cheap.

I remember there is a huge beading shop in Phoenix from a couple of years back when I was helping a friend find supplies (even though we're in the UK, beading suppies were hard to come by).

I'm sure you'll think up something You seem very talented.

Beading wire is a very good idea. And I have seen baskets, and that's another really good idea.

We have a very good beading shop here, too. I can't even afford silver at the moment, but then I can't afford the stones, either. I did get some cabochons from my boss that I will be using for artistic purposes.

Thank you for the kind words!

It is a surprisingly simple design and yet very effective Getting the gradient 'just so' took the longest time.

Thank you. It's a very simple tiling fractal but it's the gradient really made the image work it's the same gradient I used in most of my work, I just used to modify it slightly each time as it seemed incapable of 'doing wrong' .

lgmac In reply to Siminart [2006-09-23 19:41:08 +0000 UTC]

I can't tile, so it doesn't look simple to me.

made a brilliant tutorial that covers quite a few things and he put in all he had learned about tiling, [link] you would certainly understand what he's talking about and be able to take it further.
