Description
Apophysis205beta2zplus_cplus_r5.241 ApoMap and PSP 9This is my submission for the wtc 22
I confess, I've tried really hard with the wire and tube tutorial by CygX! [link] but was getting nowhere fast. So I went back to the flipped disc tutorial by Joel Faber [link] and continued playing with that. Then I wondered what would happen if wires and tubes were added to that and here you see the result. It's marble run madness in an Escher dimension
I did try a modified version with marbles in the tubes but had to mess around with the weights so much it destroyed the slightly ethereal look that this one has, so I'm sticking with it.
ps it is worth a full view for detail

Thank you, it was certainly a surprise result of the experiment. It's good to mess with tutorials and mix them up a bit

Somehow, and I don't understand how by any means, it was the combination of the Flipped Disc technique and the Wire and Tube technique that brought the colours out and set them on fire. I used to be a big user of dull colours but at art college was befriended by a group of people from Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Peru and they brought out, through their inspiring work, a love of bold bright colour. If it don't hurt your eyes, it just ain't worth it, tee, hee, hee!

Well, this one nearly hurts! I bet it's nice and loud in your ears I honestly don't think I have seen many fractals with colours this rich in them.

Sorry this reply is so late, I've just returned to both the computer and dA after a few months break.
Thank you for your lovely comment and taking the time to look at my efforts.

Ha, ha, ha! I'm working on my health which means taking a break from the computer for a while. When I've finished catching up and clearing everything I'll write a journal to say I'm taking a sabbatical for health reasons, just for a month or two. My son will be on holiday for the summer real soon.

I hope he will take very good care of you dear Helen. A sabatical from the pc won't do any harm but I look forward to see back feeling rested and in good spirits after his holidays

I'm going to persevere with the wire and tubes but so far all I've managed to make is granny knots!

I know that feeling. I can't make anything like ~CygX1 's glorious work, so I have to just play around and see what perversions I can come up

Tis a another beautiful piece of work! You never cease to amaze me....btw, I haven't forgotten you and the responses you gave to me on the tutorials....you know how life gets in the way.
BTW, I love this line: "I don't know about genius, I'd more say it was stupidity let loose". That's gonna be my new sig line for awhile!

Thank you Art I hope life is treating you well and you are having the fun sort of 'life in the way' rather than the opposite (which always turns out to be interesting in the long run)
I don't think I've ever said anything memorable to be quoted, thank you.
Have a great weekend!

Thank you, it's my inability to get to grips with wires and tubes that lead to this. I'm going to try and combine them with other methods I'm sure about and see what results as I know for sure that just the learning alone will be fun

Thank you T
You know me and colour. I used to be so very British (don'tcha know) with staid colour choice but now like 'em hot, hot, hot!!
I was having trouble colouring this and then just clicked on a random Apo gradient that was harmonious but dull, the work of the moment in ApoMap to get it just right, I love that programme!

Genius and stupidity: perhaps they're both rooted in a certain naivety, but differ in the management thereof?

Thank you. I'll keep persevering with the wire and tube tutorial, though i need a 'light bulb' moment to get it. I tend to be very obtuse most of the time
