Same deal as with Big. Just playing around with design concepts and seeing what I like and don't like.After seeing this awesome tumblr user's gijinka designs: cleopatrasweave.tumblr.com/pos… it reminded me I wanted to get back to working on Tails. I'm not really happy with how he looks, and I wanted to get better at drawing the chair.
I'm still not entirely satisfied, but I'm happier about the chair and the direction he's going in. Think I may scrap the jacket and scarf, and maybe the goggles. His outfit isn't really working for me, but I like his face better than the last one.

You know, I kind of like that you've made him disabled. Firstly, that's a first time I see any of the main characters disabled, and secondly, it lets you play with all kinds of gizmo and devices.
It kind of makes sense that a kid would fly via a hi-tech wheelchair rather that magic or mutation.

Very nice, though I'm still getting used to the fact he's disabled, I'd always pictured him with a mutation, kinda like with Angel from X-Men

Actually, I think either the goggles or the scarf might work. Not both but one or the other.

I think I like the scarf better, but I dunno. Goggles are overdone, but he has actually worn them on a couple occasions. I'd probably get rid of it in a newer draft, or have them over his eyes or something.

I actually like most of his jacket; the ring in the middle tacks me off a bit. The face/hair is definitely better, much more like Tails. Great attention to detail on the wheelchair; the turn signals amused me.

The ring in the middle is supposed to be the Heroes flight logo. I probably shouldn't have filled the middle in black, and now that I'm looking back at it I should probably move it somewhere else than on the shirt. Maybe onto the jacket instead, or maybe even incorporate it into the wheels on the wheelchair.

Oh derp, I would've known that if I'd drawn the connection from the earlier versions. I have no excuse, so instead I'll use an ad hominem: your mother wears combat boots with mismatched socks.

The earlier version didn't have it, but I was trying to put something there that was better than the 'player 2' text he had before. It's really hard to tell what it is from these sketches, and I'm not sure it works that well. :/ Not sure I know what to put there instead though, or if I should just leave it blank.
