This reminds me of the sunrise I saw the other day. I'm usually such a zombie in the mornings that I hardly notice, but it was beautiful. And this is just perfect.

'Long and flexy' hehe, I've gotta add that to cute expressions from Americans!
I must say, you are sounding much more positive about your work. It does seem your work has changed since you've got back somehow.

Oh haha ... that's funny, I didn't get it. I've never heard of that. It sounds like a modern made up one. If I had to guess, I would say it meant 'sexy', right?
Well, I will woot for that too! It's about time! Catch cha later you handsome geezer!

It is for men yes, but it isn't as negative as it may sound. In fact, it's not negative or positive ... it just depends what people put in front of it. Such as 'dirty', 'ugly', 'top' or 'diamond' ... you get the idea. Some people use it for their mates, such as "Alright geezer" when greeting. You are right though, it doesn't sound as flattering as calling someone a handsome gentlemen, which you also are. 'Bird' ... yep ... that's the one. I must admit, that sounds even less flattering. Particularly when you put it with the former to describe someone ... "geezer bird" ... which is definitely a put down for a woman (it means she looks like a bloke). If you want to flatter someone, it's best not to call them a 'bird' ... unless you've know them for a while and it's more a term of endearment. Men mainly use it between themselves.
Hehe

Neil Diamond ... hehe ... you're too funny!
Either way it's an insult right! I think I'll leave that one alone should I ever visit your continent again.
You're welcome. I've had fun talking about all these things. That reminds me ... Have you heard of the new Guy Ritchie film coming out, called "RocknRolla"? I have no idea whether it's good ... but I may have to go see it just to find out ... I'm still debating it. I wondered if you were getting trailers for it over there.
Sorry if I'm posting too many messages on your pics! Anyway, until the next one ...

nah I didn't hear about it.. but then again.. I don't watch TV.. so I really wouldn't know even if there were trailers for it.. I bet it is good..
I just went to see "House Bunny" and there was a trailer that had the same gentleman that played in "Hot Fuzz" in it.. and that looked hilarious.. the story revolves around an inept assistant traveling to NY.. βfish out of waterβ kind of thing.. it kind of reminded me of a Mr. Bean movie..
I love your messages..

lunarsparks In reply to simple-squamous [2008-09-20 12:09:09 +0000 UTC]
That's alright then!
I've never heard of "House Bunny"! I think the other trailer was for "How to lose friends and ..." something something (I can't remember the full title). Okay, I just looked it up and it's "... and alienate people". I saw the trailer briefly but never paid attention to it. I will do next time. I like his work. The UK seem to have a lot of export comedians doing well in US films at the moment (like Ricky Gervais as well) ... it's odd but good. Did you like Mr Bean then? I used to catch a couple of the TV episodes when I was at school. Sometimes I watch his things and find the situations too painful to see ... because you can see what's going to go wrong before it does. The worst thing was when he put turps on that painting!

I never heard of Ricky Gervais.. but I just watched a bunch of his material on YouTube after you mentioned it.. he is hilarious!:

check that one out.. it's pretty funny..
well I thought Mr. Bean was funny now and again but not all the time.. what is a "turp"?

lunarsparks In reply to simple-squamous [2008-09-20 17:39:50 +0000 UTC]
Oh good, I'm glad you like him ... I think he is hilarious too. He wrote a programme called "The Office" and now there is an American version of it (I know you don't watch TV but you may of heard of it). I've seen the full version of that clip, and it's still funny every time.
Sorry, that means turpentine. 'Turps' isn't plural, it just happen to have an 's' on the end. I suppose calling it that for short is a British thing as well. We call methylated spirits 'meths' too ... I know ... we're weird! Lol.

simple-squamous In reply to lunarsparks [2008-09-21 15:18:06 +0000 UTC]
I have heard of the American version.. geez.. do you ever get tired of us stealing TV show ideas from your country?.. are any of them better over here?.. or are they worse?.. I wonder if they pay then English production companies royalties.. or maybe it's the same company?.. hmm
yes I would like to watch more of his material.. but all I have is YouTube to go off.. I really like his funny take on genesis.. even though it is a bit arrogant and blasphemous.. I think god has a sense of humor though..
hehe "Turps".. what are methylated spirits? never heard of that.. give me an example..
well have a fantastic English day "royal cuteness"

lunarsparks In reply to simple-squamous [2008-09-25 21:15:32 +0000 UTC]
Sometimes, but only in the sense that I think ... "well, wasn't our version good enough?". Though, I'm very aware that not all jokes in English shows are going to be funny to Americans, so on that account it makes sense to do your own. Ricky Gervais does actually get royalties for 'The Office', I believe. In other cases I'm not sure ... they must do, right! Unless there is some way of just paying for the concept or something.
I must admit I prefer the English version of 'The Office', just because the way the characters act are more like our workplace reality. I have a friend who loves the American version but she has always loved American imports of any kind. I still find them funny myself ... just in a different way (and that goes for other shows too). Saying that, however, I've never been a big watcher of either of them.
You may know methylated spirits as ethanol. It's camping and oil burner fluid. Usually purple in colour. "Royal cuteness"! Thanks handsome American country boy!
P.S. You still need to tell me what 'grits' are!

yes they "must do".. hehe..
lump sum or percentages.. I am sure they are making out well..
oh I don't watch tv at all.. don't really have time for it.. "rubbish" you could say.. hehe
but at times I catch something that I missed on YouTube or some other internet based video site and I see the appeal of it.. photography.. random google searches.. news.. and email take up too much of my free time..
aahh.. methylated spirits.. meetheel.. hehe.. I love the way the English say Aluminum.. I am going to make you say that someday..
grits.. just a breakfast alternative to oat-meal (corn based alternative).. is all.. but can be consumed any time of day.. big in the south country.. not so much in the north..
hmm.. another day in paradise.. more photography tomorrow hopefully..
take it easy darling..
Cheers!

I must admit in my experience, when I went to New York and watched some TV to see what it was like, I couldn't believe how many adverts there were. There was practically nothing left of the programme and the adverts lasted for ages too.
I wonder if you might like a programme here called 'QI'. Only because I get the impression you like finding out about things. It's like a fake quiz show with comedians, but it has some really interesting facts in it. I suppose you could call it a more intelligent show. And I'm all for introducing you to a few more English things even if you end up not liking it, hehe.

Well, they entertain you for a few minutes.
Aluminium! Aluminium! Hehe. I can't wait to hear you say 'awesome' or 'darling' ... actually I'm gonna make you say 'aluminium' and 'aluminum' as well!
You know what! I've wanted to know what grits were for years and I, stupidly, never looked it up. Thanks for that. I can't quite imagine how it would taste with fried chicken, but I'm sure that's a taste sensation I'll experience.
I wish you a great evening tonight. I shall be going to sleep soon (if I actually get off of DA that is).

yes.. really annoying adverts and lack of original content are the main reasons why I do not watch television.. just seems like a colossal waste of my time..
QI sounds interesting.. I bet I would like it if I ever saw it.. I am in a library right now so I can't watch those clips.. but I will later..
haha you are funny.

I believe you'd like it. You can save those clips for when you have some free time, or maybe when you're bored or something. Me, funny ... I aim to please (sort of), hehe.
I think my dA addiction has chilled out a bit. I know yours has. Hehe, you used to post so many pictures. Everything has calmed down so much on here. Or maybe it's just me thinking it has ..

Anything that is hard to do, is worth it, right? You'll have a great sense of achievement at the end.
Hehe, I know exactly what you mean. I've been losing a bit of faith in the creative process myself. I think I'm going through a phase but I suppose I just need to push through it. In your case, I think having that goal is a good one. I may have to follow suit actually ... special, different... those are some good words! Hehe.
