sorry i just read that you using black charcoal paper on another deviation and guessing that is what you used here as well?

oh and what paper too. i want to try doing some portraits and i don't know where to start but i thought it might work better using acrylics or watercolors right now.

They are watercolors in tubes,like them way better than the pencils or palettes.I can use water to make it really thin for washes or out of the tube to layer the colors.On the black charcoal paper they stand out plus even if the paint dries I can still move it around to change anything by using water on a brush.It's so cool to experiment with.

I have a feeling that's suppose to be water behind the bird, but through my strange eyes, I keep seeing a night sky. 
I really love it and the detail on the bird and branches is terrific! Just what I would except from a great artist like you!
