Description

So here’s another comic for you, according to my inscrutable whims. The whole thing was really just an excuse for the panel in the middle (you know the one I mean), but I also knew I couldn’t just leave it at that.

I’m sure this is probably confusing for anyone who hasn’t played Shadow of Mordor, which was one of the things I did during my hiatus. In fact, I have it to thank for my return, since all those orc (or uruks, if you’re pedantic about it) reminded me too much of Shelob to leave my strip abandoned any longer.

The basic gist of the game is this: you are Talion, who is what you’d get if Aragorn and Ezio Auditore had a baby. After dying along with his family in the first ten minutes of the game, Talion awakens to find that he is “banished from death” and bound to the spirit of a millennia-old elf king. So the two go on a merry quest to kill, dominate, and ruin the day of as many orcs/uruks as possible in their quest to break the curse and find revenge. Which is why Talion reappeared in the last panel of this strip: when he dies in-game, he is magically revived by the curse, though the consequences of his death remain (such as the orc who killed him getting a promotion).

For those who have played before, I realize my version of Talion doesn’t bear too striking a resemblance to the original. I was rather proud of my work on the elf-wraith, but then most of his features didn’t cross over once the ghost effect was added. Oh well.

Good grief, fella, you might try giving me some time to get back to you.

The short answer is that I used the Creation Kit. If you're not familiar with how it works, there are many lovely tutorials available on YouTube to get you started. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZxuVY…

"You are Talion, who is what you'd get if Aragorn and Ezio Auditore had a baby." I'm sure there's a fan fiction about that somewhere. I don't know of any, but I'm certain there is.

How did you make Celebrimbor? Im asking because I am actually playing a Talion like character in Skyrim. All I need now is a wraith.

On the internet, anything can be found. It's just a matter of time when you'll go insane from the experience of searching for it. Ha! Ha, ha!HA HA HA HA HA!

Hahaha, I get it because I've done all these things and I'm part of Tolkien fandom. Well done.

That's just great! Poor Shelob. Then again, he's an Orsimer, he can use a little bit of fire in his blood every now and again.

Right.  I bought Shadow of Mordor a few months ago - I AM going to get around to playing it.  And Skyrim again, because Skyrim is awesome.  Excellent comic

It's a fun game - though a tad short if you just plow through the main quests like I did.

What I know of Shadow of Mordor was through some walkthroughs, and thank the Nine it was enough.

Well, I don't really know what to write, but I liked the comic despite not playing Shadow of Mordor.

Y'know, I'm really surprised this strip went over as well as it did, since most of the readers who commented on it haven't played the game.

As usual, great job with the posing and post-editing. Loved Shelob's character card there, especially.

The card makes me wonder why I don't give Archer his helmet to wear more often. Gotta watch out for those head-stabs, after all.

Sir-Douglas-of-Fir In reply to HelloMyNameIsEd [2016-03-07 11:13:20 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I know the card's background looks a little rough in places, but overall I'm happy with the result.

Just as long as it isn't one of those vision-blocking helmets, like the Dawnguard's.

HelloMyNameIsEd In reply to Sir-Douglas-of-Fir [2016-03-07 16:21:09 +0000 UTC]

Well, wearing the light Dawnguard helmet would be good training if Archer wants to be as good as those blind Kung-Fu masters, I guess. Visibility would be about the same, anyways.

Oh wow, Celibrimbor?  That's pulling out some big guns there. Is there going to be more to this, or are you leaving it here?

How'd these two wind up in Skyrim anyhows?

I also take umbrage at the bow and arrow comment.  Telki has dropped dragons with sneak shots and her custom crafted and enchanted bows.  Seriously, I will have to screencap her 'Uber Bow of Whomping' for you with its stats sometime.

Just so's y'know.

Sir-Douglas-of-Fir In reply to Wynnifredd [2016-03-07 01:42:41 +0000 UTC]

They're probably not coming back, tbh. Although if my whims continue their current whimsy, we may hear from their "informant" again.

A wizard did it.

Obviously, any comments about weapon effectiveness do not apply to the Dragonborn. With the aid of mods which I know to exist, I'm pretty sure there's an alternate universe where the Dovahkiin has vanquished all his/her foes with a common dinner fork.

Wynnifredd In reply to Sir-Douglas-of-Fir [2016-03-07 03:07:22 +0000 UTC]

You said it, now ya gotta comic it. Least a one shot. The Dragonspork has a nice ring to it.

well, no weapon is as effective as the Dragonborn's and crew. So why did arrows draw his particular disdain?

i may be a little too defensive since, y'know, i'm a bow fan. Love me anyhow.

While I haven't played Shadow of Mordor, I've read the books it was based on and recognized the lore behind Talion's hatred.

The funny thing is that there are many in Tamriel who feel the exact same way (i.e. The Pig Children).

And its celebrities to act as better examples ... but that seems difficult for any race to have.

Btw, perhaps Shelob should make Vilkas do the paperwork in return for subjecting him to that nonsense.

Ha ha ha ha, poor Talion he is dealing with a force that is beyond his comprehension. I wonder what Shelob from Mordor would think if Shelob from Skyrim met her and vice versa Xp.
