Description Based on a true story. When I first got Hearthfire, I never had any intention of adopting anyone. Now, I'm thankful they limit you to two children, or I would be hosting "The Elder Scrolls V: Cheaper by the Dozen." They're all so pitiful and cute!

Fortunately for Shelob, Aela empathized with Lucia, since she too had lost her mother at an early age. She was more than happy to take the girl in.

I've switched from MS Paint to GIMP at the helpful suggestion of . I've not tried anything too fancy with it yet, but it does make editing much easier. Screenshots are of course still taken in Skyrim.

Update: added the new banner and increased size

(Wait, the game limits you to two adoptions? So I CAN'T adopt a small army of children and then train them up over the years to become elite assassins for a new and powerful Dark Brotherhood? ... ... Y'know... hypothetically.)

Oh, I'm sure there are mods out there that can accommodate your insane plan. Hypothetically, of course.

(Oh! Whew, that's a relief! I don't have to change the... hypothetical plan. That is entirely hypothetical.)

Taking a child from the street is wonderful. But then when demand presents and allowances 99.99% of the time, you begin to regret that. When Lucia asked me if I brought her a present after I spent 15 days in Solstheim, I cursed Bethesda for not having an option to send children to the orphanage. I wonder how Shelob manages to endure that. I bet this is an orc thing.

Nice work

You went to Solstheim for fifteen days and didn't bring back some sort of souvenir for your family?

I wish there was more we could give to our kids in the game, oh well, the kid with the french name from Honorhall at least gets a dragon bone dagger from papa.

Had to rescue him from bandits once.

Seriously, what is up with those bandits?

I once gave an enchanted daedric dagger to my girl because she complains all the time about Braith.

You had to rescue your kid from bandits? Is that from a mod? I know bandits can kidnap your spouse, but kids?

Ok, it is the spouse. My bad. Guess I remembered the rescue your kid from Hob cave quest in Fable II and thought it was a quest here. Actually I find it hilarious that Mjoll the Lioness is one of the spouses that can be kidnapped by bandits. Same with Uthgerd, those two tend to handle themselves well.

Haha! Love the last line! Though, I'm sure Aela wouldn't mind continuing her family traditions with Lucia, even if she's not related by blood.

Heh. Thanks. I still can't decide whether having the Companions for babysitters is a good or bad influence on them.

lol ""Which will probably include divorce if Aela doesn't approve of this" XD that's the good thing about Skyrim. You don't have to consult your npc spouse before you join a guild or in this case, adopt a kid.

Or consider that you're probably leaving them with the kids while you go out and do awesome things for untold weeks at a time. I think Dovahkiin secretly translates to "deadbeat."

not quite. You get paid for doing some of the awesome things. But still....Paarthurnax, is there something you're not telling us? XD lol but quick question, how do you take screenshots of Skyrim? I ask because I have a snipping tool on my pc, which is what I also have skyrim for. and I want to take screenshots of my characters, but I can't use my snipping tool because the game automatically goes into full screen mode.

Most people I know run Skyrim through Steam and take screenshots that way. There's probably a way to take them without Steam, but I've never tried it.

I adopted the girl from Windhelm, because while all the kids have sad stories, I'd sympathize a child who tries to work on the streets in one of Skyrim's coldest cities than one who just begs... That sounds really heartless :<

I did that too, also adopted Lucia from Whiterun.

One had parents fighting for the stormcloaks

Didn't Lucia's father fight for the Imperials? I don't know if he was brought up but considering her age I wouldn't be surprised if he died fighting in the civil war for the Imperials.

Anyway I adopted both and joined the Imperials.

That was my Nord RP character Jon Steelheart who is native to Skyrim and has been on a training journey for five years only to return to people who don't recognize him. His besties Ralof and Hadvar don't recognize him and are at each others throats until the dragon attack in which he works together with both of them. Jon already has a pre-existing relationship with Lydia who is Balgruuf's niece and she is the only one who recognizes him immediately but the two lovers are unable to reunite until after that first dragon is dealt with but when they do reunite it is a heartwarming one in which Jon reveals just who he is in front of Ralof, Hadvar, Balgruuf, his own father, and everyone else there. Yes, Lydia still becomes Jon's Housecarl but that is more ceremonial than anything since the two being lovers makes them of equal rank to everyone else and she was trained to be a Housecarl.

the only ones who don't seem to hate them are the overly optimistic naive ones. frankly i am not a fan of em neither, too glitched and what the hell is the point of display cases when all they do is shooth the items out when you come home later. aelas is better than njada, temba, etc.....now THATS a beeyotch. XD

Lucia was the first child my Redguard adopted followed by Samuel from Riften

so now i have a family of a Redguard Stormcloak, a Nord wife (Aela) and two Imperial children

Almost as diverse as my own Imperial Orsimer, Nord wife, Imperial daughter, and Redguard son (because yes, Alesan is apparently a Redguard). Mixed families rock!

Garchompisbeast In reply to Sir-Douglas-of-Fir [2013-01-14 16:32:39 +0000 UTC]

indeed

Samuel is gonna be trained to be a hunter by Aela and Lucia is gonna be a blacksmith trained by 'Uncle Ogol' (Ogol's my steward at Heljarchen Hall)

Sir-Douglas-of-Fir In reply to Garchompisbeast [2013-01-14 16:44:47 +0000 UTC]

Neat! I didn't realize you had an Orcish steward. Since we moved to Solitude, Lucia says she wants to be a bard and Alesan wants to join the Legion. "Why not," I says.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Garchompisbeast In reply to Sir-Douglas-of-Fir [2013-01-14 16:48:16 +0000 UTC]

Samuel and Lucia are having nothing to do with warfare, Mathias may be a Stormcloak but he's not proud of it

that's why Samuel is learning to hunt as a profession and survival whilst Lucia is going into blacksmithing

Heh, that's pretty cool.

This brings up a good point: if marriage and adoption is so fast and easy, I figure that divorce would be too... Lets hope they don't have a bad argument one day.

Sir-Douglas-of-Fir In reply to HelloMyNameIsEd [2013-01-10 16:15:33 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.

Of course, divorce in Skyrim seems to be limited to console comands and cold-blooded murder... so yes, let's hope nothing happens.
