Description

… Jeez, this one’s kind of a mess, isn’t it?

The thought process behind this one was weird, as I’m sure comes as no surprise. I suppose ultimately we all have Bard66 to thank for it, since he introduced me to the Nature Bow by Micha666Ragnar . Once I downloaded it and realized it looked like somebody had just tied a string to a tree branch, of course it was only logical to have Alesan and Lucia do just that. Then this whole thing became an excuse to put those two in a bunch of wacky situations, because goodness knows they're the main protagonists' kids and they're barely characters in these strips. I guess this falls into that category of "Comics I Mostly Did for Me," but hopefully you guys like it too.

I think after this strip Aela is going to declare this bow too valuable to use in battle, and will resume using her Stalhrim one. Except for special occasions.  And I wouldn’t worry too much about Aela’s husband missing her special day – I’m sure once his current interdimensional muckabout is done, he’ll more than make up for lost time.

Aww, what an adorable and thoughtful gift! It's like when your kid draws your family and you can't help but put it up on the fridge. What a good parent Aela is!

Too bad fridges haven't been invented yet, or I'm sure she'd have found a way to attach that bow to one. I guess she'll have to make do with a special display stand instead.

lol! You are a very creative person Douglas.

I honestly wouldn't have thought of that. Bravo

awww. Aela's going to treasure that forever! Especially if and when she figures out what they went through for her.... after she stops laughing and or freaking out that they put themselves in danger.

Yeah, she's gonna alternate between "I'm so proud!" and "You did what?!" for a little while.

I freaking love how the kids' bow has become the most outrageously overpowered bow in Skyrim. I mean, what other bow can hit a person so hard their head goes flying like an apple?

Sir-Douglas-of-Fir In reply to ShoutFinder [2018-08-27 23:38:06 +0000 UTC]

It's just like William Tell, only gorier!

And the best part is that such a giant, unwieldy thing with ridiculous draw weight and heavy ammunition would be just about useless in anyone else's hands. Aela's just that good.

Bwah ha ha ha! This is great! The little sneaky poses, "why is the mead always gone?," how many kids is that bandit dealing with anyway or do I not want to know, BEES, the basket trick, Nelkir being a skeeze, I love all of it.

Yay!

As for the bandit, I'm not really sure myself, though I imagine she turned to a life of crime after a short and unsuccessful career as a governess.

I'm picturing a very short, very horrifying rendition of The Sound of Music.

They didn't use a forge to make that bow, what kind of sorcery is that?.

Considering that the bow works quite excellently, maybe those kids have a future as weaponsmiths? XD

Or MacGyvers. Either way.

the-exiled-muse [2018-08-25 08:33:35 +0000 UTC]

Cool! That bow must have some amazing draw strength to decapitate a person, especially given how those arrows look at least as big as riekling spears.

And we learned exactly how old the kids are.

the-exiled-muse In reply to the-exiled-muse [2018-08-25 21:47:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh I certainly believe Aela is very strong. The greater the draw strength, the stronger the archer has to be. I wonder how much weight Aela could lift?

Sir-Douglas-of-Fir In reply to the-exiled-muse [2018-08-25 23:05:45 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't speculate on any hard numbers, but to my mind, Nord physiology plus lycanthropy means she could probably deadlift Shelob in full armor without too much hassle.

the-exiled-muse In reply to Sir-Douglas-of-Fir [2018-08-25 23:36:23 +0000 UTC]

Heh, now I'm imaging Aela and Shelob taking turns lifting each other over their heads, partly to see if they could, and partly for laughs.

Sir-Douglas-of-Fir In reply to the-exiled-muse [2018-08-25 13:16:37 +0000 UTC]

It's as much a testament to Aela's strength and skill as it is the bow's construction. That said, I think once those big honkin' arrows got some momentum behind them, they'd hit like a shot from a ballista.

And yeah, I may come to regret giving their exact age, since we're running on Comic Book Time here, but I figure Shelob and Aela have had them for two or three years by now at the very least.

Rienh [2018-08-25 05:06:45 +0000 UTC]

Well that does it. Ulfric can eat the world like Alduin, but Shelob MUST go home at least for his wife's birthday! He can go back to whooping Ulfric's ass after that. Wife's birthday is a serious business. Also awesome looking bow. Btw I appreciate someone else having vanilla children like me.

Sir-Douglas-of-Fir In reply to Rienh [2018-08-25 13:11:49 +0000 UTC]

"Hey, can you stop tearing apart the foundations of society for a couple days? My wife's got a birthday coming up, and--"
"No. "
"Curse you, Ulfric!!!"

I like the bow, though I confess I'd like it a lot more if it weren't so darn big. But yeah, I've had the vanilla kids waaaay too long to change my ways now.

Rienh In reply to Sir-Douglas-of-Fir [2018-08-25 18:15:37 +0000 UTC]

Have a substitute for Shelob for the lenght of the birthday celebration. John, Archer, Julius? Plenty of options. I now imagine Shelob thinking: "What's with the kids in this reality? They look completely different." Anyway this was a really sweet idea for a comic.

How did you manage the jumping off the bridge shot?

A bow that looks like a branch...I foresee a gag where Aela drops her bow in woods, and has to look for a branch in a forest (needle in haystack).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sir-Douglas-of-Fir In reply to spruce56 [2018-08-25 13:05:17 +0000 UTC]

Oh, that one was fairly simple. Just used the "tc" console command to make each kid jump off, then used "tai" to freeze them in place.

Could be, could be. Goodness knows I've already lost the stupid thing in the woods a time or two and had to spawn in another one.

I don't think so, unless it was added to conjurers' equipment list as part of Immersive Creatures. The Dunmer in this strip was already wearing it when I found her, and I didn't think to look.
