Description
So... I almost forgot that I said I wanted to continue submitting some of work here that pertains to my progress. Here's a little something I did yesterday. As I'm still trying to improve on drawing faces and muster the courage to do portrait studies, I decided I would finally take a serious look into the Reilly method of facial construction. Honestly, for the longest time, I thought the approach looked really messy and convoluted, and to be fair, it is a lot to grasp and do (hence why there are only two heads here and a bunch of notes). Still, I think I was able to make some sense of things as I worked on this. This isn't the way I'd want to draw faces all the time, as there's plenty of busywork involved and the slightest measurement error seems to throw the rest of the construction off rather easily. But as more realistic portraits go, I do think I want to resort to this method to make sure the proportions are accurate and to better identify mistakes I make with even more stylized faces. So yeah, this was still a fruitful exercise.
By the way, if you are able to see anything wrong in my drawings or notes, please let me know. While I think I was able to grasp most of the features relatively easily, I still may have misunderstood some things. Particularly, I'm not entirely sure if I placed the eye sockets correctly, and they were actually one of the main reasons I wanted to finally approach this exercise. I'd appreciate the helpful feedback.
Anyways, thanks for viewing and reading!
