Description Beware of Galgriev, he may wear the mantle of Commander and seem as gullible as the rest, but his boots lie firmly in the camp of the Imperial Inquisition, he's as sly as they come, and it makes getting you information a painfully delicate process... I'm sure you've heard of the Inquisition, they're tasked with the capture and interrogation of enemies to the Emperor, such as yourself Isabelle, however what you might not be aware of is their connection to the Jedi, and their primary role, Quinn has the attention of a very dangerous man... And, well... I worry. Especially for that kid she looks after... Is... Is she Force sensitive too? Then please, warn Quinn to keep her close... Galgriev will likely target her as well... ~Extracts from a conversation, spoken by double agent Tish Sonbur, sharing insight on Inquisitor Galgriev with Isabelle Devon, the then leader of Goldsaber.
-------

Star Wars OC AU stuff, mainly just coloured sketches. These ones focus of one of the primary antagonists, Inquisitor (and later Warlord) Gideon Galgriev.

Galgriev is the man holding the Dark Jedi Kiri Starchacer's leash, he's calculating and sadistic, and very much enjoys being in control of enemy and ally alike. His demeanor is usually eerily calm, though despite how softly he speaks those around him can't help but feel uneasy, as if sensing his malicious will... Tish Sonbur feels a cold sweat when in his presence, as if he has a pervasive air around him, his smile especially sends a chill down her spine...

Galgriev sees Kiri as an amusing plaything, an animal to prod and enrage before setting loose on the Rebellion, Kiri murdered her former Master for just that, though however much she despises Galgriev she too feels unnerved by his presence, and lacks the conviction to strike out at him...

His early and personal life are much a mystery (for now anyway, who knows what the future holds XD), however one thing that is known is that he's a Droid fetishist, he believes Droids to be far superior to Organics, he admires them for many reasons, their efficiency, adaptability, apathy, and lack of weaknesses/requirements of Organics, he often laments how the Empire relies upon human soldiers over advanced Battle Droids. He employs various Droids for several roles, his personal guard are made up of combat Droids inspired by the IG-series, they're equipped with Electrostaffs and blades, and there are two variations, the advanced variation equipped with a second pair of arms, Galgriev also has a perverse fondness for the Imperial IT-O Interrogation Droid, all too eager to employ them when he suspects information is being withheld, or sometimes as rumors suggest, for the twisted pleasure... Two particular IT-Os have gained infamy among his crew as his 'pets', Wrath and Rancor...

Despite being an Inquisitor the extent of Galgriev's Force sensitivity is a mystery, in fact many of his lower ranking crew are oblivious to the fact, however those closer to him know better, and tread lightly hoping to remain ignorant to his true strength... Galgriev also does not wield a Lightsaber, but instead a thin bladed sword, it's deceptively weak in appearance, and in fact is forged from concentrated Cortisis, a lightsaber striking it's blade will immediately short out, and be rendered inoperable for several minutes, this blade has tasted Jedi blood on several occasions thanks to that deception...

As for Galgriev's mission, to hunt down suspected rebel elements and Force sensitives, he has been given command of a special ship, a unique variation of the Victory-class Star Destroyer, which carries a single focused Gravity Well projector on it's upper hull, it's area of effect is smaller than that of an Immobilizer 418 Interdictor, however it is designed to target a specific enemy, rather than hold a fleet, this also means that it requires less power than an Immobilizer's quad Gravity Wells allowing it to maintain engine and shield power, speaking of engines it is also equipped with more powerful engines than the standard Victory-class, allowing it to chase enemies attempting to flee beyond it's projector range, these features earned it a fearsome reputation, and the name: The Pursuer. (Which is also a Dark Souls reference to an enemy I like... XD) Shortly before the Battle of Yavin however, due to the heroic efforts of one of Isabelle's fighters, The Pursuer is crippled, damaged beyond repair, and soon replaced with an Imperial-class Star Destroyer.

Where as Kiri's personal transport is a Lambda shuttle, Galgriev's is a heavily armored VT-49 Decimator, outfitted with a heavy arsenal, including forward facing heavy cannons, turning it into a lethal gunboat, additionally it's blade-shaped wedges were further reinforced meaning the ship's frame itself was a deadly weapon, relentlessly ramming through enemy fighters and even lighter transports, leaving nothing but a trail of twisted metal behind it...

In short, this guys one hell of a piece of work, Quinn n' the gang had better watch out!

Originally Galgriev's ship (during the early years) was going to be a heavier version of the 418 Immobilizer, buuut honestly, that idea doesn't make much sense to me, as they require heavy escort to operate effectively, this makes a lot more sense in my mind, and I much prefer the 'Pursuer' idea.
Anyhow I've talked enough, hope ya'll like, feedback and comments greatly appreciated!

Okay it has taken me forever to get back to you here in regards the Pursuer and I am very sorry about that, kinda got sidelined with all manner of other things!

Anyways, in regards the ship design and function as you asked.

I love it.

There is of course a scaled up Interdictor which is based on the Imperial I-class hull but it shares many of the same flaws as the smaller Immobilizer-class despite the greater power supply available to it.

This more compact design with its very target specific gravity well is an interesting approach as it very obviously is designed as a pursuit and capture craft rather than a broad interdiction unit like its cousins and limiting the scope of its interdiction field also enables it to defend itself more effectively.

All in all it's a really cool (and honestly scary) design despite the relatively small size and fits with its owner's intent very nicely.

oh yeah I'd love to see you draw the look of horror on some headstrong knight or padawan's face as their blade shorts out. Jeez that could be an epic scene... just having them slash with a super confident expression maybe even some witticism. Then the look of shock as their saber goes out. Then Galgriev's smile as he walks forward, flanked by his droids. And a last shot of the look of terror across the Jedi's face... just my two cents XD

Heheh, he's certainly the kind of person to draw something like that out, taking time to relish the shock and horror... I'm thinking his combat style is geared around baiting his opponent into attacking first, parrying and as their saber shorts out, and riposting with calculated brutality... 'You're free to attack me, if you so wish, but I warn you, your pitiful Jedi tools are meaningless to me, you'd do no worse tossing your lightsaber aside and resigning yourself to grim fate, it'd be my pleasure to end your nightmare, though if you wish to persist, I won't argue, I love a fighter even more, hehehahahahah, they never see it coming, and it gets me every time.'

Oh yeah, he's been in the works for a long time now, the man holding Kiri's leash, in that sense, Quinn's true antagonist... So damn smug... XD
Oh wow... XD

They can take a fair while, Star Destroyers for example are deceptively complex, they have a lot going on on the upper hull, and the angles need to be just right, thankfully though I have the best References ! XD

He wasn't the only who trained her, she killed her trainer in the end (The Sith Rule of Two states that there is always a Master and an Apprentice, and the Apprentice can only become a Master by killing their own Master and taking their place, the Sith are preeeetty effed up... ), but this guy, he's even worse, total psycho... But I can't wait to draw a battle with him. XD

It's good to finally have a face to him though, and her certainly doesn't sound like someone you'd want to mess around with by any means!

He's one twisted sonovabitch, that's for sure...

He has shown up once or twice, like in Tish's sketches, but this is the first thing with a proper bio on him and such. ^_^
Something I'm really interested in is your thoughts on his ship, The Pursuer.

huh...and inquisitor that actually has a name, and looks more like Imperial navy instead of a sith wannabe. It's really refreshing. Dinsey should learn from you...but they won't. Also, those ship designs are awesome. and nice to have one of them compared to a TIE fighter, to give a sense of scale. Though, I do have to point out that Cortosis actually isn't a reliable material as a lightsaber counter measure...and the "malfunction" it causes really only last as long as it takes a person to turn off, then back on their lightsaber...but then, this is the Original trilogy era, and many not have that knowledge any more...outside of the emperor and vader

SithPostsArt In reply to JoeBlue [2015-05-02 21:24:28 +0000 UTC]

Heheh, I'm glad you like it, Yeah, I kind of hate it when they keep a name hidden just to be mysterious, it's like c'mon, by season two we should at least have a name? I haven't actually been able to watch Rebels yet, so I can't really judge, I do kind of like the Inquisitor's design, it's quite interesting, but I'd figure that the Imperial Inquisition would try to blend in more than stand out, hence why I gave Galgriev the Navy connection, it also makes sense to me that the Inquisition would have members within various other bureaus... Ahhhh Disney, I have such a love/hate thing with them...
I really love working on ships, I use a lot of references too, in this case I used a Star Wars Armada Victory-class from the core set, and an X-Wing Miniatures Tie Fighter from that core set, and the VT-49 Decimator Expansion (References here! ) Fantasy Flight's models are utterly fantastic, some of the best, and invaluable as reference material.

In my research I did come across contradictory accounts regarding Cortosis, from instances where it simply deactivating a Lightsaber for a second, to instances where it would disable a Lightsaber for several minutes, an example being in the comic Purge the Jedi Shadday Potkin uses a Cortosis blade to disable Vader's Lightsaber for several minutes during an ambush (Source:  img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20… )
I'm kind of running with the theory that it depends on the purity of the Cortosis weave, a weave with a low Cortosis density would prevent the Lightsaber from cutting through it, however the low density would not deactivate the saber, just merely allowing for combat to be viable, higher density would cause deactivation for maybe a second or so...
Galgriev's blade is made from concentrated Cortosis, such blades are extremely rare however, due to the high cost of Cortosis, the idea is that it's a weapon designed solely to slay Jedi, and the Cortosis is of both the highest density, and quality, it's extreme purity causes a violent feedback. That's just the angle I'm pursuing anyway.

JoeBlue In reply to SithPostsArt [2015-05-02 23:41:07 +0000 UTC]

I agree, it does make sense. since a lightsaber instantly draws your attention if seen. Though to me, it also makes sense, since Jedi Sentinels also have been doing it, to the point that people think they didn't exist...and Palps suspecting that the majority of Jedi that survived the purge were Sentinels.

Those things are very cool indeed, even if unpainted. a very nice source for reference indeed.

I have the Jedi Path book, and it states that it can either deflect the blade or cause a feed back loop. it also says that it's brittle, so you can break through it with enough force, although rarely. ...now I don't remember where I heard it being unreliable...funny enough, out of the 4 countermeasure the book listed, Cortosis is one of the most widely available
