Description
... I don't remember much of the surgery, muffled voices as I drifted in and out of consciousness, and pain, pain despite the Symoxin, or whatever painkillers they used, and something missing too... When I woke up it all came back to me, honestly, I couldn't even look at myself, a part of my mind was perhaps still in denial, but the physical trauma was nothing really, the hardest adjustment to make was knowing that I'd never see Kiri again... We were enemies once, but she'd come a long way since the days of the Empire, I was proud of her, proud to call her a friend, and mortified that she'd died protecting me, I won't lie, at that moment my heart was consumed with hatred... And guilt...~Quinn Shara's memoirs, New Republic years, reflecting on the loss of her left arm, and the death of Kiri Starchaser, her former enemy, turned apprentice, at the hands of the Yuuzhan Vong.
-------
Some Star Wars OC EU AU (LETTERS
During the early days of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion Quinn and her allies' primary role in the conflict was to rescue refugees from the fringes of enemy lines, and securing supply lines for those fighting on the front, during one such mission an enemy advance force caught her unit off guard, forcing them into a desperate fighting retreat, in the battle that followed Quinn became infected with a type of parasite that feeds off of the host's connection to the Force, she fought on regardless, confident in her saber skills, however when confronting an enemy warrior she misjudged the enemy's weapon, what looked like a serrated sword was actually a whip, and when she parried it with her palm it coiled around her arm to devastating effect...
Her whole left arm was little more than a dead weight, hanging off by a thread and hemorrhaging blood, in an instant she made the decision to cut it off at the shoulder, the searing blade of her lightsaber cauterizing as it cut through, though the pain was beyond excruciating Quinn had at least ensured that she wouldn't bleed to death. Using the adrenaline surge that followed she flew into a frenzied counteroffensive, fighting with a single arm and taking her enemy by surprise, though she soon burned out, however just when it seemed hope was lost she was saved by Kiri Starchaser.
Kiri told Quinn to retreat whist she held off the attackers, and although Quinn protested Kiri knocked her unconscious and had her squad carry her to the last evacuation transport... Kiri remained behind because had she retreated with Quinn then they would have been run down by the attackers, she chose to stand her ground, to sacrifice herself to repay Quinn for redeeming her. As Quinn regained consciousness in the fleeing ship she felt Kiri become one with the Force. Soon after Quinn is rushed into emergency surgery to treat and clean her wounds, however she doesn't get a replacement arm until after the Yuuzhan Vong war ends, choosing to fight with one arm as a self-imposed punishment.
-------
I'm so sorry Quinn... You look so bewildered... Battered, bruised, and scared, both physically and mentally...
I feel so bad for putting her through this, but that drama, that trauma, it's what'll make her even stronger.
Her hair is actually quite long, I rarely draw her with it down, she always ties it up in her trademark braided bun style, she actually doesn't like it down, however during the rest of the Yuuzhan Vong war she keeps it down, well, she only has one arm so it's actually impossible for her to braid it....
This actually just started as practice for drawing/colouring bruises and scars, I hope they look alright, any feedback would be appreciated.
By the way, the sign in the corner is written in Galactic Basic Standard, if anyone can read it without going to the wiki you'll have my geek respect. XD
Anyway, that's that, I hope you like(is that the right word here?) it. More to come when I'm no longer ill.

You do "Bewildered, upset, in pain, injured, angry, and sad" much too well, my friend.
This is a stunning piece, and you can really feel her confusion and her pain, and the detail is exquisite.

Heheheh, thank you very much, though my OCs probable hate me... XD Emotions are an important insight into understanding a character, their expressions and body language can often say more than their words ever could, so I try my best to get them right. ;w;

Mine do too, the life of an author, heh! XD
Amen, I just wish I could draw like you can! I just have to settle with writing about how they look
And you did a great job of it too, it is a very expressive and emotional picture.

Heheheh, aye! XD
Eh, with practice anyone can do it, I'm legally blind and Dyspraxic, my hands shake so much I can't even tie knots (which is why I don't ink my lines, because I physically can't ), given enough time and dedication anyone can become an artist. ^_^ I wish I could write, like, I have the ideas, the stories, the characters in my head, but beyond dialog putting stories into words is just a mystery to me, I really struggle to put words to it. ;w;
Thank you, I really appreciate it. ^_^

Yeah, well, some are more cut out for it than others! My drawings all make me wanna throw up when I step back and look at them.
... Really? Oh, you have the same I problem that I do, I bet. Though I'm willing to bet yours is worse... Eesh, your poor hands, that must suck! I tip my pointed green hat to you sir, you must work through a lot to get these done, and they're still incredible!
Oooh, that is the most frustrating thing! Heh, maybe I could help you out a bit with that sometime! I used to go through that a lot, still do(Which is the reason why story uploads can be rather few and far between), but I'm steadily getting the hang of it, though I probably just jinxed it...
Always welcome, my friend.

Question, have you ever considered leaving the Star Wars universe and having your character's exist within your own sci-fi world? From reading the back stories and characters that you create, I think you could really make something compelling and unique on your own.
Just something to consider

Heheh! Actually I have several ideas for original projects, the Star Wars thing is really just something that I've been drawing more of recently, I've got many ideas for my own Sci-fi space opera style comic, as well as several slice of life style romantic stories, a war story, my head is full of ideas, the Star Wars one is great practice though because it's working in the confines of an already established world, with it's own rules and limitations, and I thing that's a good place to start. ^_^
The Star Wars stuff I actually only started drawing over the past couple of months, the majority of my gallery is original stuff! XD
I'm honoured that you think my characters are compelling enough to stand on their own merits, it means the world, Characters are the most important thing to me when crafting a story! I'll try to draw my own universe's characters a bit more, heheh, it's just a bit hard to stop drawing Star Wars stuff because I absolutely adore Star Wars! XD

I know, I feel bad for putting her through it... ;A;
But she'll bounce back, stronger than ever!
