Description I sometimes wonder where I'd be if Isabelle and her crew had'nt picked me up, I'd probably be dead, truth be told. I was a stupid kid, and I couldn't wait to leave Da'hren, but at the time I didn't really have a direction, a goal, I was just some puckish teenager with her first taste of freedom, aaaaaand I may have bitten off more than I could chew, and very nearly choked to death, metaphorically speaking... I didn't like the Empire, so I figured, 'Hey, I'll steal a Tie Fighter from the local depot!', I used to sneak in there sometimes, steal scrap, paint over propaganda posters, stupid junk that angry teenagers do, anyway yeah, I took a Tie Fighter. What I DIDN'T now at the time is that they're dreadful little death-traps, had I left the atmosphere in that thing, well, it would've been grizzly... Luckily enough Isabelle's cell was in the area, they saw Ties heading in their direction and figured they'd been discovered, I'm actually pretty lucky the Ties were firing at me, else Izzy might have shot me down thinking I was the leader! Sweet merry hell, I was so damn reckless back then... ~Quinn Shara's memoirs, Early Rebel years, reflecting on the bumpy start to her journey.

You were always just as reckless!!! ~Sidenote by Orchid Shara.
-------

Starrr Warrrs OC AU! And Quinn's journey starts off with her doing something reckless, who'd have figured, eh?
Originally she was gonna steal a Z-95 belonging to one of Isabelle's men, but I like this idea better, because hey, she could die in any number of ways!
She could get shot down by Imperials, she could leave the atmosphere and the lack of life-support would kill her, Izzy and Chase could mistake her for an Imperial and blow her up, she's crazy lucky... But start as you mean to go on, am I right? She gets older, and wiser, but she's always young at heart, reckless and impulsive.

She was born on Corellia, during the early weeks of Palpatine's Jedi Purge, her Father died soon after and her Mother spent the next five years ferrying her across the Galaxy, trying to stay a step ahead of the Imperial Inquisition, eventually leaving her at Yana's Shelter for Orphaned Children on Da'hren.
Da'hren is a small moon orbiting a gas giant called J'hen, it's an obscure little place on the edge of the Empire, it's surface is scarred from the Clone Wars as both sides had contested J'hen and in the years since a thriving community of scavengers and refugees made Da'hren their home, salvaging the forgotten wreckages that litter it's surface and constructing large cities where the scrap was densest, often made from that same scrap. Resource wise, the Empire has little interest in J'hen or Da'hren, however it serves as a good place for a remote refueling station, it's low population and out of the way location have other benefits for the Empire too...

Da'hren is a lucrative place for smugglers and scavengers, and also dissidents, with hundreds of old warships littering it's surface, many still untouched, although the equipment they're carrying might be outdated, it lies in incredible quantities, allowing a group like Isabelle's to amass a large surplus of arms and equipment to distribute among other Rebel cells, trade for information and supplies, etc. And indeed at this point in time Isabelle's group has only recently transitioned from an aid organisation into a Rebel cell, they came to Da'hren to procure military equipment, and leave with a wannabe-Jedi as well, not too bad, eh?
-------
Quinn: Yeaaaaaaaahhaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!

Isabelle: That's no Imperial pilot, a defector? Or--!

Chase: A joyrider!?

Isabelle: If she isn't wearing a flightsuit she's in big trouble... Chase, take out her tails, I'll guide her down!

Chase: S-sure! I don't think they even noticed us...
-------

Honestly, I drew this because it was a silly fun idea to draw, young Quinn having the time of her life, flying for real for the first time, ignorant to the danger around her, or maybe just not caring, riding high on the adrenaline rush, I just like her excited expression... XD Isabelle and Chase are shocked to hear a childish "Yeaaahhhaaahh" coming from the lead Tie. I changed up their equipment somewhat for this drawing, as this is early on, they're not that well equipped, their flightsuits and helmets aren't military grade, in fact their purpose for coming to Da'hren was to gather such equipment. Chase's custom Y-wing hasn't had it's garish red paint-job yet (hence it's three times slower...), and Isabelle and her wingman (likely Zomori) are flying Z-95s (X-wings aren't a thing yet after all) with quad-engines. (there are lots of different variations on the Z-95, I'm using the Fantasy Flight X-Wing Miniatures model as my reference. )

I really enjoyed playing with this, adding the different perspectives and panels, like the over the shoulder view of the pilot shooting at Quinn, that's a first, and it was really interesting to do, also the Tie Fighter bursting into flames, it's a stark contrast to Quinn's elation, and is pretty grim, but yeah, Quite a lot of my characters DIE, and I do want it to be kinda' grim and graphic when death occurs, because death is grim. But don't worry it won't be constantly grim, it'll have good times as well, p-promise!  By the way, I hope those Tie Fighter interiors look alright! It's not easy finding references, so I kinda' winged it... XD

Also J'hen and Da'hren are references to Monster Hunter (like Dalex), I really love those names... I changed them ever so slightly, adding more emphasic on the 'h'.

Anyway, I had a lot of fun with this, and I hope ya'll like it too, as ever feedback is greatly appreciated!

The fact that the tie pilot is raising his hands or anything just makes it look like he doesn't give any fucks xD it is as if he knew it'd be the exact death of him.

Still this is a very awesome piece with lovely design and a cool story behind it and there better be good times ; A ; I wanna see them happy at least once in a while you know ; w ;

Still quite impressive! Amazing work as always.

I think he knew there wasn't anything he could do, since standard Tie Fighters aren't equipped with shields if someone gets the drop on you it's already over, all you can do is watch those last few milliseconds tick over...

Thank you, I'm really glad you like it! Heheheh, but the bad times make the good times extra special! XD

Ahw, I really appreciate it. ^_^

Hehe true but i just can't help but find his lack of an expression funny because he looks like he doesn't give a damn though he probably does. But when you have too many bad times it makes the good times necessary not extea special ; A ; well they are but still! So much pain bro D:

Still you are impressive and amazing.

Thank you very much, I'm really glad you like it!

I'm glad you think so, I had so many ideas with this, I wanted to show how Quinn meets Isabelle, but I also wanted to add background to Isabelle and her cell, to provide some explanation as to how she makes the transition from aid organisation to armed dissidents, as well as show where Quinn grew up, I'd been brainstorming for quite a while for locations, but nothing fit perfectly in place until I decided to make my own. XD It's exciting because I can actually create some more stories and background for her youth here, such as her earning her keep by gathering scrap for sale. Most of all though this was really fun to do, very self-indulgent! XD

Thanks Slade, I really appreciate it! ^_^

It's a lot of fun seeing Quinn being all young and brash like this. I mean obviously we still see her being such later on in life but this right here really and truly is reckless.

Also I completely understand the joy of creating something completely new and original for yourself and your characters, it really is an enriching feeling being able to create something almost from scratch centered around your own characters and ideas.

Heheheh, like Orchid says, she was alwaysjust as reckless! XD But yeah, It was really nice to draw her looking so excited, flying free for the first time, young and inexperienced, not at all fazed by it, but rather emboldened by it! XD

Indeed, I've been playing around with a lot of ideas regarding Da'hren, and Quinn's youth, such as her aged 13/14 earning credits by scavenging stuff to sell to scrap dealers, and giving those credits to Yana to contribute to the shelter, though Yana secretly keeps all Quinn's contributions in a separate pool that she plans to give back to Quinn when she inevitably leaves (she knows Quinn is a Force sensitive, and knows that Quinn wants to become a Jedi), as capital for her journey... The vast ships that litter Da'hren's landscape also provide shelters for a young Quinn to train her powers, guided by whispers of the Force.

Nice!!! Both of those are awesome ships, I love the Starviper, I had to get a pair! XD

Oh god, the Imperial Raider Corvette is out soon too, I am so hyped to get my hands on that, getting a full 360 degree look at it, it looks phenomenal!

They only had one when I picked one up.

Now though I have a second TIE Defender and E-wing both, two X-wings, one TIE Phantom, three TIE Fighters, and a Moldy Crow...I kinda want to get some A-wings honestly but I haven't been able to find them!

And yes, the Raider looks awesome, as does the earlier attack craft they released (can't remember the name at the moment, but Galgriev has one).

I need to get the Armada expansions, Wave one just got released! I want me that Gladiator-class Star Destroyer, and Alliance Assault Frigate Mk.II!
I really hope that they'll announce the Immobilizer 418 among future waves, I'd be overjoyed if they did, I NEED a model of one of those ships, I love 'em! XD

I wanna get a few doubles of some ships, another Defender, another Bomber, another Phantom, another Moldy Crow, and another E-wing too, and maybe another IG-2000 because those ships work very well in pairs (Mercy, cries my bank! XD)... I think Fantasy Flight regularly reproduce and re-release them, you can check the status and availability of them here:  www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/…
Currently the A-wing expansion is awaiting a reprint, though that said it's not impossible to find some online, I use Ebay a lot myself, love a good bargain. XD

I need that Raider in my life, as does Kiri... XD And yeah, the VT-49 Decimator is an excellent ship design, it was originally designed for Star Wars: Galaxies as an Imperial equivalent to the Millennium Falcon, I think anyway...

On the subject of the Raider, it also comes with a repainted Tie Advanced, and one of the new Tie Advanced pilot cards is Juno Eclipse, which I'm happy about, because I really liked Juno, though I'm kinda' sad too because if she's a Tie Advanced pilot in the game then it's unlikely that they'll release a Rouge Shadow model, and THAT would have been an epic addition... ;w;

SlingBlade87 In reply to SithPostsArt [2015-05-20 03:38:01 +0000 UTC]

I just saw the Armada set at my local store.

Really want to get it but I don't use the models for illustration the way you do and having no one to play with I really don't know if I can warrant the nearly $80 (it's $78) price tag right now...though I did just pass my big physical exam so maybe I will spoil myself?

Honestly if they announced a Vindicator heavy cruiser I would scream and go for it along with paired Gladiators. That would be my dream flotilla right there I must admit!

Another Moldy Crow? Whatever for? Going to use it as a heavy fighter/gunship? I haven't gottne the IG-2000 yet, haven't seen it in the stores. That explains though why I can enver find any A-wings, TIE Interceptors or Y-wings though, I want to get some of both!

Yeah, I like the design of the Radier to be honest, very cool though I wish they'd also develop some of the other ship types the Empire used of comparable size.

Oh? A repainted TIE/adx1? What's the repaint scheme look like? Though it is awesome that Juno is involved, I do adore her! She's one of those characters that sits on teh sidelines that I absolutely fell in love with...I have so many of those.

It's really good, but it is pretty costly for what it is, that's not to say it's not of the highest quality, it is, but it's still a bit on the expensive side, hopefully they'll bring the price down a little bit in the future... ;w;

There are so many great ships, the potential of the future expansions is massive, it's really exciting!

Heheh with the Scum and Villainy faction adding cards for the HWK it's an even more versatile ship now, I also like the idea of one giving focus buffs whilst the other becomes a tanky gunboat with more gun add-on cards. It's a really top quality model, I saw a couple in my local bookstore the other day, as much as I wanted to get a second one however right now I decided against it because there are some better deals online... ;w; Heheh, yeah, it's good that they do still support and reprint older expansions, rather than letting them go permanently out of print, because it sucks when that happens...

It's definitely a terrifying sight for any Rebel that might encounter it... Yeah, I would like to see some others too, I think the logic is that the Empire needed a specialized anti-fighter ship, when it comes to anti-fighter counter measures the Empire generally relies on it's own fighters, also for game/player balancing reasons with the Rebel side having both the GR-75 and the CR90 corvette the Imperial players needed something similar. I'm just super excited to get a new plaything, for both art and irl! XD

The repaint is basically the Imperial blueish gray that the later Tie models got (following A New Hope), such as the interceptor and bomber, the original X1 and standard Ties have a more lighter gray. Aye, it was a pleasant surprise to see her, her pilot card is pretty awesome too, as her ability lets her execute some absurd extra maneuvers, plus her pilot skill is really high being 8, with Darth Vader the only X1 pilot higher with 9. She was a really great character, and it was great to see how she and Starkiller both developed as individuals and together (albeit briefly... ;w; ). Aye, Star Wars has such a great cast of side characters.

Yeah, it'd be nice if they brought the price down but I'm not complaining too much.

What I think is kinda funny is that so many of the ships and pilot cards they're now using are technically not canon any longer and certainly none of the new stuff they're creating is either!

That's actually a raell neat idea to have htem complement each other like that. I'm sure a lot of these models are going to become collectibles and such as time goes on honestly and it helps that they're so well crafted. The Star Trek equivalent to all this really wasn't as well produced from what I saw of the ship models.

Well they could have thrown in the Lancer frigate or Carrack light cruiser, those are both comparable ships and certainly not unknown. Woulda been cool to see either of those. Not hat I'm bashing the new ship mind you, it's a very cool and intimidating design no question.

Oh I see, so they actually go with that later paint scheme then, cool stuff, and I guess the both of us know all about awesome side characters eh?
