Referenced from this deviation [link] by *kerembeyit . Posted with permissionJust for practice, about 6 hours (didn't keep track) in acrylic paint. I'm really enjoying the whole notion of painting without a pencil sketch. It's rather gratifying.
Do you think it's a male or a female? The egg would suggest it to be female, but it looks male to me. So what do you think?

Extraordinary effort!! and wonderful result as well ^^ n to your question, dragons somehow all appear male to me (i know,im weird), but when I saw ur explaination for the egg i changed my mind and the color red starts to look feminine too....

Yeah, for me, the dragon could swing either way. Since it's red with blue highlights, it also looks really purple, which makes it more feminine!!!

Hmm; could be a male watching after the egg while his mate is out or something happened to her. I always pictured red dragons like cardinals and some other birds/animals; mate for life and take turns caring after the eggs/ young.

Thanks, the texturing was good fun (but I got bored on the wing). Having an egg does not necessarily constitute female status, but I'm just trying to figure out what to name it. Naming things is fun. If it were female, its name would be Esmerelda.
