So here it is, finally! I was getting tired of the super old ref Vreyin had and decided to update her. I love revamps ~
In case anyone was wondering, 99% of the text is in past tense on purpose because it's indicating she's long dead. Like all of the other avians.
Oh, and you can see a preview of the new Shrike!
I don't have much to say at the moment, so I'd just like to say a special thanks to =kilara , ~Foxchibi , and =Humingbird for their help and support. C:
Also, this species belongs to =kilara and are not an 'open species', so please refrain from making one for your own as it is disrespectful to do so without her permission. She has quite a few awesome open species though! Here's a nice little list: [link]

Your reference sheets tell stories. I always love seeing and admiring them. The colours and the movements of the characters as well as the most important features of the creatures are the most amazing parts. How long does it usually take you? I would also love to make proper ref sheets of my creatures for references because I sometimes need refs fro my own chars. XD

This ref took me a god-awful amount of time, I spent a few days just sitting there sloooowly trudging away at it.
Sometimes I sincerely wish I wasn't so slow at art 3:

I love her new design, the patterns using gradients, but also mixing hard edges into it to create visual contrast and interest.
I love the size contrast you put in the top corner, and the fact that you included her parents in the background <3333

You were a huuuuge help in this, I'm glad you persauded me against banding the blue on her crest. You're totally right, it looks so much better with the smooth gradient. And I never thought I'd like the hard edged markings as much as I do now, I'm glad you also persuaded me to try something new.
I'll have to redraw it, I think I accidentally deleted it in the huge PSD file. Not a biggie though, more human practice and all <3
