So here it is, finally! I was getting tired of the super old ref Vreyin had and decided to update her. I love revamps ~
In case anyone was wondering, 99% of the text is in past tense on purpose because it's indicating she's long dead. Like all of the other avians.
Oh, and you can see a preview of the new Shrike!
I don't have much to say at the moment, so I'd just like to say a special thanks to =kilara , ~Foxchibi , and =Humingbird for their help and support. C:
Also, this species belongs to =kilara and are not an 'open species', so please refrain from making one for your own as it is disrespectful to do so without her permission. She has quite a few awesome open species though! Here's a nice little list: [link]

Those colors are amazing!
I just adore the pattern on the wings, and the color combinations remind me of early morning.
All the different angles and views give a nice perspective on her body shape, and your grasp on anatomy is outstanding!
As for the reference sheet itself, the layout is very neat and clean, and the text is very informative.
Great job!
Also, what tools and brushes do you mainly use to make your lines and coloring so crisp and smooth? You have a very clean technique indeed~

As for the tools I use, I just use Photoshop CS (from start to finish) and only used two brushes -- a tiny px brush for lining and the 19px opacity brush with varying opacity.

I'm so glad you revamped Vreyin. She looked great before, but I must admit; I like it a lot better without all those bright colors. This reference sheet is so informative, and very organized. Nicely done.

I was wondering - in proportion to the viewing size under DL, how large was the working size of this?

Pretty big, I have a very hard time working on a small canvas (anything smaller than 3k pixels long) so this was over that by a large margin.

Holy mother of all things! How in the world did I miss this?!
Vreyin, one of my favorite Avians to date. She was beautiful in the beginning, overall dominating in the Avian world....how could she get anymore amazing?? BUT SHE HAS!!
By gosh, I love the little tweaks in her design! I especially love the facial pinions that hand from her crest like dangling earrings. That is a really unique and original touch that I have yet to see 8D The way her colors blend together is just simply delicious, and very pleasing to the eye. Nothing on this pretty girl is an eyesore!
I really like the feathers the come out from underneath her crest, and the very subtle markings on them. For some reason...they just make my eyes happy xD
I am enjoying this change in style from the last reff sheet. The slender cat-like build really suits Vreyin. And the idea for the two feather pinions coming out of one quill is really pretty.
To this day, Vreyin is still my favorite! And you my friend are a GOD at reference sheets!!

I love that you love all of the tweaks I gave to her design, no matter how massive in the revamp department they are. I'm also equally happy that you think her new color patterning is far more aesthetically pleasing than the previous, I wanted to take it down a notch but keep it dynamic without being too overbearing, as her last design was.
I'm also glad that she's your favourite!! That means an uber lot to me!
And thank YOU for enjoying my art, it's awesome peeps like you who inspire me to improve and expand my art even further.

I just barely got photoshop cs5 and I know some stuff from coloring and all but how do you do the color charting? The gradient tool is one of those things that give me a hard time to understand and learn how to use.

Please don't make your own avian though, they're not a 'free species' for just anyone to create. The intellectual property owner (aka copyright owner) of this species only allows those close to her to make one of their own. <:3 so please respect her wishes!

*nods* I would be very angry if someone made a Chirima or Umbruel without asking me first, but that's mostly because the Umbruels are my babies and the Chirima's are a complex race that basically need a specific character sheet and a walk-through to create XD But I understand completely lol.

Honestly, I like all the glow effects on him from the other sheet, along with his previous tail design and wing designs... However, this reference sheet has much more detail in other areas. Kudos :3
I really want to make one of these guys though, can you point me to the race/species sheet for them if possible?
