This reminds me of a passage from the epilogue of my Thomas and the Great War story on Wattpad.
"...and Toby was on his way to a farm when he noticed that he only had to take three trucks again.
"What's all this?" he asked a lorry.
"We're doing most of your work now," said the lorry. "You're too slow and it's high time you were put in a museum where you belong."
"I may be old," Toby explained. "But I have a lot of life left in me."
"Times are changing," replied the lorry, and he drove away, leaving Toby with very hurt feelings."

Then the lorry promptly crashed and Toby had to take the load.

Well I can't take much credit as the fine painting was done by Malcolm Root. Editing wise I only added one of Toby' Railway Series's face and I altered the BR number to match the one Tobe's would of been carrying when the Hatt's went on their holiday
