Description

"Consume… Consume everything." – The Moon from Majora's Mask

This is my entry to #DrawtoberPart2 , the second of three parts of the Drawtober 2023 event hosted by team – quite some fun prompts I got to say!

This artwork is available as a free 4K (3840x2160) wallpaper download for your own personal, noncommercial uses.

Please ask me for permission before reuploading it elsewhere (I definitely don't bite! ).

This image started out as a cozy speedpainting session in bed, but I invested more time into it than I expected as I wanted to get the image as close to the original as possible in the shortest time frame possible.

As such it passed a little over the 2h mark and is still blurry rather than more refined. Even so, I'm quite happy with it!

I picked Day 14's #moon theme because I had Majora's Mask fanart in mind for quite a while now… and I'm a sucker for moon(s).

So what better opportunity than to do that now?

It's scary, it's hitting hard into uncanny valley, and it is an immediate threat.

Rumour has it some fearless people who played that game even said afterwards: "I fear no man. But that thing… it scares me!"

Never played Majora's Mask, but you're fond of the idea of a twisted yet familiar world and very unique character routines and problems?

Like to be pressured by an overarching problem that does not stop to grant you a little break?

Are you fond of partially resetting your progress to start the loop all over again?

Do you love seeing depressed and hopeless NPCs that all try to cope with the seemingly inevitable in different ways?

And do you love playing a game that clearly got a weird rating and probably wasn't all that suited for kids after all?

Then I got to say…

Play it.

Now.

PS: Posted at 06:40 my time – to honour the N64.

Disclaimer: I do not claim the ownership over the visual design of the moon (especially not our real one), or Skull Kid, and naturally the design / idea belongs to Nintendo as part of their Zelda franchise. This is merely non-profit fanart.

Made with GIMP 2.10 on Xubuntu.

I hope you like it – and stay safe in these wild times!

Sly.
