Nice shot! I would love to see a revival of such architecture. Ain't gonna happen but I can only dream.

Wouldnβt we all love to see a revival of such architecture but, as you say, it ainβt gonna happen! Developers in UK are far too obsessed with building as many tiny, ugly brick boxes as they can squeeze on to a piece of land. Itβs not only the beautiful mansions which are out of favour, cricket too seems to be in decline. At club level, fewer youngsters are joining. They say the game takes too long to play! T20 is popular but anything beyond .... !Β

I know those houses from TV-movies inspired by Rosamund Pilcher!
My most important reason for looking those movies:Β SHEEEEEEEEP!!!!! And the beautiful landscapes too. But the stories are pretty ... deppert (this is a Viennese slang-word, and I don't give you the translation, in case of you appreciate those movies ).
But indeed I've to admit that Pilcher-movies made in GB are far, far better than the German ones!

Deppert? ... I can guess; I've read one of her books, maybe even two ... yes, I must have been desperate!! I've not seen any of the movies and I don't think I will be rushing out to buy the DVDs!!Β

I'm pleased you think so; it's not looking bad for over 300 years old is it?! That's the house not the cricketers!!

Not bad is it!! Imagine how much clutter you could accumulate in a place that size and imagine cleaning it ... not a job I'd fancy!!

If I owned a place like that, I would hire it cleaned free of any clutter. I cannot stand a cluttered environment. I am what they call a "neat freak".

Oh, how I wish I was a neat freak but sadly it's not in my nature! Β

SinceΒ I am legally blind from birth, being organized is not an option, it is a must, lest I loose my own butt were it not attached.

I can well imagine the importance in your life of being organised and tidy and that presumably extends to your hiking and camping.Β

So quintessentially English!! The structure is quite impressive isn't it and was, apparently, not considered all that grand in its day (well not for wealthy people anyway!)

Yes well, they were very 'fancy' in their tastes back then! But this is just splendid; and timeless in it's magnificence.

A grand house, what better way to show traditional England than with a grand house and the game of cricket.

Absolutely ... tradition: it's what we're best at although cricket may be looking a bit shaky at times! Β
